We've seen slightly higher meat prices in Knoxville, it's more an issue of what is on the shelf any given day. Produce has been even more of an issue and what we've been able to get from Kroger has been pretty bad quality. We did luck out and discover https://www.knoxproducebox.com/ which we tried for the first time last week. Nearly cut our produce bill in half while giving us close to twice as much as we were buying and supports local farms. We only found out about it because I was talking to my home health nurse about food delivery but it would be worth seeing if something similar is available in your area.

Luckily for me and the kids here everything has been widely available (other than the initial rush of TP but we weren't running low and luckily my landlord has literally 1000+ rolls here and I am the only one in the building when the kids are at their moms). In fact we have been having steak twice a week, the local IGA grocery store is well stocked and I can get 3-5 small steaks for $5-8. But today people are out wandering around like oh well everything is fine. I am keeping my computer store appointment only and still no contact or limited contact.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to put you off doing it - just don't expect a perfect flat finish on it! its gonna undulate a bit and be lumpy in places. You might think you've got it perfect but then it will dry and you will realise that you havent! I rendered my garden retaining wall myself and the finish I achieved is 'rustic' - which I am totally happy with! I deliberately did it with a rough finish too so as to make it look more deliberately bumpy. Its now painted light-terracotta and looks like 'rustic Mediterranean' edit - i rendered this (and painted it slightly terracotta this last weekend) Tomarse fucked around with this message at 22:24 on Apr 28, 2020 |

I braved Costco today and the one here was fully stocked with paper towels and about half stocked with toilet paper. Most of the shelves seemed to be about normal. Meat shortage is definitely real though as they only had, at best, 2/3rds of the usual amount of beef/pork. Kroger/Fred Myers' non-organic produce was a pretty mixed bag when I was there Friday. The onion selection in particular was very poor. There were a few packages of dried beans which I haven't seen in over a month so that's neat.

I JUST went through that with my boy's Xbox One. He was having trouble and, at 17, I told him to figure it out himself. Well, he came up with a "Double NAT" problem, and he stuck with that as the problem. I told him yes, he's going through multiple routers, but we eliminated one and it still showed double NAT and I said that's not the problem. So, I got him a new headset. Looked fine, plugged it in to the controller and it changed from "no-mic" to "headset" icon and I thought he was fine. Next day I found out he was raging at night because it didn't work. So, I got him a new controller. Showed up today. Paired it and set up a party with just me in it. Whenever I talked, the ring around my icon lit up. Tried with the old controller and it never lit up. Looks like it was a bad controller. A lot of drama for a stupid problem that has a tough troubleshooting flowchart.

He thinks the headset is the problem, but my thinking is a mic works or it doesn't, random on and off issues have to be related to something else. Reset the Xbox and router and nothing, but tomorrow it will probably work fine. I really don't want to start throwing parts at it this poo poo is expensive.

McCarthy's general eschewment of conventional writing techniques is just one of the many reasons I enjoy his writing so much. Haven't been around much lately as my job goes to hell, but now I need help. My mom and sister have decided they want a chicken coop and a greenhouse and I get to build them. The plan for the greenhouse is to pour a slab (concrete footings at the very least) and just do basic timber framing. For anyone who's done this before, is there anything in particular I should watch out for? The plan is to build the coop first since it'll be more forgiving and then do the greenhouse since I haven't built a structure before. Treated lumber for all the wood most likely, polycarbonate panels for anything on the greenhouse that isn't wood, it seems like it should be pretty straightforward, but I'm happy to hear how I'm an idiot and woefully unprepared

The cost is higher but it's good quality and good availability, and it's generally important to us. We can afford it, fortunately. Due to my wife's food allergies she strictly only eats grass fed beef or organic chicken. We have found a local farm that does a very good job with grass fed beef (never grained at all) that is kept healthy etc etc. If an animal gets sick it is quarantined and moved to a different place usually to for harvesting for other animal consumption. We have found a quarter beef to work perfectly for our needs. We have done a half beef and that is just a lot. Fills out chest freezer we have in the basement and most of the upright in the garage. It is nice though, they package it however we request. We can ask for roasts to be approx X pounds, ground beef in X pounds, steaks packaged 2/pack or 3/pack. If we know we don't want a given cut then we can just get it cut as stew meat. We are charged a hanging weight, then a per pound processing thing. It ends up being around $5-6 per pound which is very good. It costs a bit upfront but definitely saves a lot of $$$ long term

Applebees Appetizer posted:The controller? Jesus Christ, and those aren't cheap either. The headset jack on the controller (the ones that have one - early ones for the original Xbone don't!) is a standard headset jack, so you can test with basically any headset that works with a mobile phone or current-ish laptop. It can definitely be a frustrating when you can't As far as the controllers, yeah, the wireless ones aren't cheap. You can sometimes find deals, or get used ones from GameStop, if you have one nearby. Right now, I'm using a cheap headset because the splitter adapter I had to use a traditional PC headset with separate mic and headphones plugs started fritzing. Wires inside at the joined bit flex constantly due to location when plugged into the controller, and headphones sound was going out. I bought a better one from Sennheiser rather than random Chinese manufacturer this time. A few bucks more, but still only $14. edit: Applebees Appetizer posted:Port should be fine, he just got it for Christmas. I've had issues with my older Xbox One not recognizing a mic or headset, but not in quite a while. Usually unplugging the headset, then plugging it back in after 10-20 seconds fixed it, or turning off the controller, then powering it back up, then plugging the headset in. Occasionally I had to unplug and replug the Xbox One headset adapter I'm using (it has chat/game balance, mute, and volume right on the adapter, so you don't have to have that on the adapter, or try to find those controls in the GUI) because that adapter is USB and has the same problem that every USB device, ever, has with Windows-based devices. Occasionally, it's just not there. meatpimp posted:The thing that got me thinking about the controller is that a) he bought it used and b) it's taken a few wall throws from him rage quitting. Kids. Welp, my 98 year old grandmother died today. The COVID restrictions mean only 8 people cam go to the graveside. This is causing great confusion among the boomers in the family. “Visitation” is 10 people for 15 minutes, then disinfect for 10 minutes and 15 more minutes of visitation. She’s got 4 sons, 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, not counting all the half’s and steps. Graveside is 8 people. She’s our matriarch and I’m not sure where what’s going to happen next. I’m in awe of her skills.
