I will not volunteer with the democratic party as I have the past four years because they no longer represent me. I don't genuinely believe that they will win in the fall. The party does not support me and is beholden to the exact same handful of billionaires that are running the republican party.

Good luck calling people selfish assholes for not wanting to support a rapist racist piece of poo poo, though.

You don't get to poo poo all over people for years if not decades and then throw a fit when those people no longer support you. I mean you can, as this thread shows, but it's not going to win you an election, as 2016 showed.

Besides Biden has repeatedly told people who disagree with him not to vote for him. Congrats Joe, we found a policy we can agree on!

I'd still say its worth it to try at the local level. The tea party just didn't hit the national stage at the first crack. In my home town, we had a movement very similar to the tea party start to hit the county seats WAYYY before I heard about the official tea party.

If you want to move the big DNC with progressive candidates - get them at the local and state level. They have a much more direct impact on schools, roads, public transit, rent control, etc. I get the big Bernie ideas aren't going to happen and that sucks (I've never voted for Biden in a primary), but please continue that push to get the right people for down ticket races.

My local situation is unchangeable. Gerrymandering at the federal level has me in a progressive's district as I live in a black part of town so I'm tallied up with Jacksonville instead of people down the street from me. The other federal district (and more populous portion) is either chuds or centrist democrats. It is not possible to get progressive persons elected locally despite a lot of effort because the voting base, even if technically democratic, is extremely conservative. I really just need to get out of north florida because I cannot change how people are here.

Gerrymandering owns, I have to drive three miles to my polling place but there's a polling place for a different precinct literally across the street from my house

Trump is change, just not for the better for most people on earth.

Know what does need to change and is entirely within the DNC's control? Same day primaries across the country. This slapdash bullshit needs to end, I don't give a gently caress if New Hampshire and Iowa get mad about it. An artificially inflated importance of a segment of an electorate is bad for democracy.

Have yall ever looked at how many layers there are between primary voters and the actual DNC?

"The Partyís basic organization, from local to state level, is:
ē PrecinctVolunteer
ē PrecinctCommitteeperson (one per precinct, plusVice-Committeeperson)
ē CountyCommittee andCountyChair (elected by fellow PCs and VCs)
ē DistrictCommittee and DistrictChair (elected by fellow CountyChairs, Vice Chairs)
ē State Committee (composed of DistrictChairs andVice Chairs, DNC members and
constituencycaucuses)
ē State Executive Committee and State Chair (elected by State Committee members; Deputy
Chairs appointed byChair)"

From there the state committee elects who they send to the national committee. So we didn't vote for Tom Perez, you MAYBE voted for a precinct member who voted for a county member who voted for a district member who voted for a state member who voted on whom to send to the DNC who voted to elect Tom Perez the chair of the party.
