From time to time they show up in thrift stores, you might even score an old Napa Valley one. Why the gently caress is an old name brand one like that so expensive online anyways? Is it purely the cost of shipping a large size one?

I don't know if it's done so that there's an evenish amount of play time on each side of the tape? When organizing my 8 tracks the other day I noticed that some of the tracks listings had notes that there was like 1:45 of silence at the end of program 2 so everything lines up. And I know I have tapes that have a huge amount of silence at the end of one side as well. Could be talking out my rear end on this one though.
