I’m literally 20-3 with turtle mage. I’ve played two mirrors and they were delightful because it was obvious the other player had no idea wtf was happening.

Pro tip: if you find yourself in a mirror, keep your board COMPLETELY OPEN leading up to the Tortolan turn. You absolutely need your minion slots 1 and 2 to be tortolans. If you can get your opponent to stick some dumbass minion in their 1/2 slot, just spam frost nova forever. They cannot generate more tortolans without clearing those spots, but they’re also incapable of clearing those spots on their own.

Take your tortolan-fu seriously.

My favorite version is the one with the obelisks. It slowly crescendoes from a bunch of turtles casting illusions and frost novas, to a single obelisk, to three, and then oh gently caress there’s like 25-30 damage at the end of this turn and every turn hereafter

I just don't know what deck to use anymore. I haven't won a game in the last 8 days (0-18). If I run face hunter I match into control and heals. If I run bomb warrior I match into weapon destruction (2 decks even teaching into sticky fingers). I run aggro rogue or even secret rogue with my own tech including flik, I match into heavy aggro or highlander decks. I dont have the cards for the paladin lists or for turtle mage.

I mean that is a fair point, but I figured maybe I can enable a new deck or significantly improve an existing deck out of all that. From the other replies it seems like Lorekeeper could do that so I'll check into Lorekeeper decks (particularly that highlander priest one since I have most of it already).

Take a break if you lose a few games in a row to clear out your head, and stick to playing one or two decks that you feel really confident with (though feel free to swap if it seems like you keep consistently running into bad matchups or hard counters). The final climb is the hardest part, but so long as you can maintain an over 50% win rate, you’ll get there.

does pretty well against most things that aren't insane aggro or N'Zoth decks

you want to mulligan aggressively for the Cutlass or Shinyfinder/Raiding Party to tutor it against basically everything but Priest, and keep Sudden Betrayal if you're expecting heavy aggro like DH or Hunter

and make sure you choose every off-class choice you get with Tess in mind, it's all too easy to pick draw spells and then when you play Tess you end up drawing like 10 cards by mistake (and this deck really doesn't need that much draw anyway, most games the issue is trying to keep under the hand limit)

Legit. Somehow in my head I saw a 1 mana give everything Rush and thought "that's okay but probably not playable", forgetting stuff like Magic Carpet and Goblin Lackey. Thing that surprised me about it was how it assisted combo decks like Mecha'thun Rogue and Turtle Mage.

Paladin is easy to counter struggling against hyper aggro like rogue before the nerfs and priest so people have not come around to playing it again.

Created by mage continues to be fun. Got to Diamond 5 with it today, my win percentage is strong enough with it that legend seems totally doable.

There's so many different directions you can go with this deck that virtually every starting hand you can get has something interesting to do (load up on cheap spells for Chenvalla, generate a bunch of stuff for mana giants, get out an early Ras Frostwhisper or Jandice, or just do a bunch of poo poo and cyclone yourself a full hand).

Demon hunter can be tough if you can't find things to freeze face (they can get to 8 attack and cast that "deal your weapon damage to minions" against your mana giants, which is BRUTAL), and druid if you're not well ahead with a lot of resources in hand by the time they get to 7. Bomb warrior can sometimes be a pain (again, finding freeze pretty much locks in the game for you). Everything else seems super easy.

I don't know why Blizzard decided to play the characters completely straight this year. Maybe they thought the Dragon story was too silly? Even something like how they handled Medivh in ONiK would be way more palatable.
