"begrudgingly "

The literal first thing the Emperor does when he steps foot on mars is fix a chronic knee problem in a Knight by poking it and saying "Machine heal thy self."

How come no one wants to think that humans are the going to be the "great old ones" who go on to gently caress up the galaxy for future species?

I'm sure if we put the effort in we can use up half the galaxy's resources, make psychotic mushrooms, several satans and piss off some robot mummys.

More to the point, every Black Crusade had a specific objective which was met. The Imperium not knowing what that objective was rather being the point.

He was taking out the Necron pylon system that maintained the integrity of real space, culminating in the 13th Crusade where he broke the final ones at Cadia and split the galaxy in half.

Despite the haters, Abaddon's living his best life.

Just got done reading the Gathering Storm books last night and there's still pylon world's out there he just took out enough to throw the system out of wack. G-man's girlfriend went looking for them.

Also if you step out of your caste's lane you get disappeared.

There's a water caste in Blade of Damocles hiding a sculpture she made because if people learn about it she'll be taken for reeducation which most people don't return from.

The only reason Farsight got away with it was him being a big hero.

Before you criticize a name for being dumb, remember that the Land Raider and Land Speeder are canonically called that because the dude who discovered them was named Land.

And Arkhan spent the rest of his life mad that everyone kept calling it a Land Raider instead of Land's Raider.

That's the entire purpose of Dreadnoughts isn't it. You have a dying veteran with hundreds of years experience and want to keep him around.

Legio Cybernetica was a thing in 30k and it's still around in 40k to make all the battle robots the imperium needs.

Alpha Primus and he was supposed to be a new primarch because Cawl can't help himself. It didn't work so Cawl used him to move the primaris project forward.

Didn't the space sharks use the badab war as an excuse to steal tithe everything and everyone that wasn't nailed down?

Always remember about George Washington is that he was a terrible general with freakish luck, but apparently an excellent spymaster.
He was really good at ordered withdrawals which back then keeping your rabble from fleeing in every direction was a pretty important skill. Its one of the main reasons the French backed the colonies, other than just for loving with the British.

The Imperial Guard usually die much more, but I assume that there's some kind of retirement age or limit to your tours of duty. If only because if they regularly shoved elderly guardsmen to the front to die, the fluff wouldn't shut up about that.

There's an Eisenhorn story about a retired group the guard that go nuts from chaos/xeno ptsd and start murdering people.

Its been a while since I read it but I think the first Ghosts novel says something about guard regiments being used to found planetary governments on worlds they bring into compliance.
