It’s really hosed up that it took until now to arrest these fucks. All praise to the GBI on that one I guess.

There’s already talk of how the jogger (The word they use ends in gger too, but I don’t want to quote them) was likely part of a string of recent burglaries and other pure strain horse poo poo.

I really, really, really, need the state of Georgia to put a needle in both of their arms and send them on to the next life. If anyone but a white old cop and his son had pulled this poo poo they’d certainly get the death penalty.

On the whole I’m generally against the death penalty, but I make exemptions. Consider these men exempted.

Yeah I am pretty sure since congress hasn't authorized the commissioning of additional officers or made any senior enlisted allocations for the Space Force, they are literally just siphoning off of Air Force Space Command and calling it a different branch of service.

Congress authorized the Space Force, Chief Towberman was the first Enlisted, SNCO, and Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Space Force. He’s the chief with all the flair. They’re working out which Airmen will be qualified to transfer to the USSF. (And a smaller number of space specialist Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines), but it looks like it may be more competitive than all encompassing. Like, there is way more interest and enthusiasm for the USSF than there will be slots.

If I was still in the USAF I’d be applying to transfer so fast it’d make your head spin. 95% of what the USSF does is classified, or at least details of exactly what they’re doing are classified (Can’t hide that you launched a satellite but you don’t have to say what that bird does for instance, or the X-37b as another example) but that just makes it all sexier and more exciting. The USAF was a good steward of the space mission, but the USSF under the Department of the Air Force is poised to take everything in that mission set to the next level.

Short of that, just wait for their first PFC Manning to get your juicy space details online. It’s.. disturbingly likely to happen, too.

No, not at all. It’s no more his forum than it was mine or Vas’s or EBB’s or loving Grover’s when we were mods.

Being a mod means that you get a couple of extra buttons to do bans and probations, plus access to some mod only forums and the reports system. That and a blue star next to your av. That is it in its entirety. It’s the dumbest “job” in the world, and nobody with a shred of self respect would take it very seriously. There’s things to take seriously as a mod, but being one isn’t one of them.

McNally strikes the right balance. I 100% disagree with the no using of bitch as an insult, but I also recognize in a larger context- The vast majority of the SA forums is pretty much in concurrence with him. So it’s not like he’s just playing PC police- the times and people here are changing. He’s guiding the herd towards the larger SA community’s standards and that is good. Being the black sheep or problem children will end up being the end of this great little group if we don’t get at least somewhat in line with everyone else around here.

Still a great sub forum and community, it’s not like I’m gonna stop enjoying this place because it’s slowly gentrifying to the level of an upstate liberal arts college professor.

Who the gently caress is running these C-RAM’s anyway? Are they run by contractors? Or do we take navy folks who know how to maintain CIWS or whatever and make them do it in land locked Afghanistan for 6-12 months?

I’m all but 100% certain it ain’t the USAF or USMC running those guns, so my best guess is Navy folks under Army opcon or contractor/civilians. Or Army owning them and having the folks for it, but something tells me the Army isn’t putting joe on that. Just a hunch, could be wrong.

Anyone know?

LtCol J. Krusinski

Well I’ll be damned, the Army does own it. That makes waaaaaaay too much sense for the military. I seriously anticipated reading that USN Sailors we’re getting mobilized to loving Afghanistan to maintain and operate those guns, since they have so many of them on ships. I seem to recall Mr. Nice relaying a story about losing an Aegis FC from his boat to Iraq, or Afghanistan. That’s probably where I got it in my head that it was USN. That and their already existing expertise with the systems.

MLMP08, you are an ADA soldier, how big is the Army C-RAM force? We talking a battalion sized element? A couple companies spread across different ADA battalions? I can’t imagine it would be a problem unless you’re in one of Those Career Fields. The stuff on Something Awful isn’t more radical than what you’d find on Facebook or Twitter. Granted it slants left instead of right which... oh...

I think our past, such as usernames such as “N*gger death turbo” “Gas Cures K*kes” and the generally extremely unprofessional past of this sub forum is something any smart officer who’s moving up (particularly to command) doesn’t want to be associated with. All it takes is one person with an axe to grind to find someone’s leadership and let them know what they’re a part of or posting. He never posted anything bad but guilt by association is a thing. Also our constant calls for nuclear war/death are problematic for an Ammo officer who may have to be in a PRP status for nuclear munitions. He wouldn’t work on the bombs, but he can command the dudes that do. And that’s a zero tolerance community.

ManMythLegend struck the right balance of being part of GiP but not engaging in the jack assery and keeping things either professional and helping sailors in the Navy thread and posting generally positive, or well written professional posts on things that aren’t positive.

I hope they both make at least O-6, if not become flag officers. They’re some of my favorite posters.

And if you think GiP won’t contact your chain of command- years ago I personally (and a few others) reported Mot Bailey’s (Who’s name and command were stupid easy to find) security gently caress ups talking OPLANs in GiP. Doubt anything came of it other than maybe a “Hey knock that off” but uh, it happens. Punishments for LtJG’s is usually focused on correcting the problem and educating them to stop being dumbasses. Commanders and LtCol’s? Not so much. It’s a loss in confidence to command, an LOC/LOR and their career is over.

Like I said, MML is the best example of how to be a field grade officer and still be part of this community. Kudos to him.

Loverro’s departure has nothing to do with this mission or its safety. The best guess from industry/news sources is he violated procurement rules in the break neck race to get back to the moon by 2024. He said specifically that his resignation had nothing to do with DM-2.

Having some experience with the matter I definitely wouldn't put much stock in the whole "I just wanted to make sure we got to the Moon as quickly as possible!" defense, either. Fallom posted:

That is a nonsense defense because there is an existing process for sole source justifications and mechanisms to gauge the ability of industry to meet contract requirements before you even issue an RFP. He would have been aware of these.

My point was his departure has nothing to do with the safety of the upcoming crewed dragon. My point was not that he “aw shucks’d” some contracts, just that the safety of the upcoming flights played no role in his resignation.
