Yeah caught me in the awkward position haha
I always felt a little weird being a girl sax player. It was mostly other boys playing. It felt good to beat them in competition lol

My sax in HS was called gator, but I didn't name it that, that was what everyone called it. It had a faux(?) alligator skin case. My gator is in a modern travel case, but it's still gator.

One of my fave songs on sax was I Remember Clifford, which is a trumpet song mainly, but the backing horns are lovely and in our band I had a solo following the trumpet solo. Also it's easy to play the lead on tenor too, because they're both b-flat instruments. Also it's just a beautiful song.

And very much different to that, we did an instrumental arrangement of Vehicle by the Ides of March which was absolutely awesome. Had an alto and tenor solo in it.

This might be the version of i remember clifford we did in my high school jazz band but i cant remember for sure.

in Hs we played this simplified version of the Hogan’s heroes theme song and it was the one song the whole class could play so we’d get amped on feeling the joy of making music together but we sucked at everything else so when the teacher left for a bit we’d pull out that song and just blast it. teacher eventually caved and gave us a more complex version of the theme but we sucked at that too

I'm supposed to be getting a new saxophone delivered today so I'll probably christen it tonight. I'll try to make another recording.i also got a couple of Real Books (books with common songs and jazz standards transcribed) so I'll find something fun to play from those.

Oh my god you guys. I'm so excited about this! Playing on a new horn and mouthpiece makes all the difference. It's incredible. Probably one of the worst financial decisions I've ever made but gently caress it it rules!!!!!

everyone always talks about the amount of modern soldiers needed to conquer rome, but no one talks about how many modern saxophones it would take to stop agriculture

hello internet friend

the talent of the sax playing goes without saying but also, maybe i should say "very good sax playing!"

i can barely sing and that is a single valve, i can't imagine playing sax or any instrument at all to be honest

thanks everyone for posting, but six and vanisher especially!!!

It took quite a few years of practice and lots of failures to get to be able to play decently. Don't be afraid to sound like poo poo for a while! It gets better!

I really want to find a song to play that I can do the vocal part as sax and play along with karaoke accompaniment. I'll be looking for something. Possibly something stevie wonder?

The X-man cometh

I was worried about asking if you could do the sax solos from Thunder Road or Born to Run because they're so short, but they're perfect for karaoke.
