I like miley because when they asked her what "the jay-z song" was in "party in the u.s.a." she was like "??? it's not a true story. i don't write the songs" and then years later she was covering "nothing compares 2 u" at a concert and she didn't know the words, so she looked them up on her phone sat on stage reading the lyrics off her phone it don't matter to her lol I learned these things because people were mad at her the monkees didn't even play their own instruments everybody get mad everybody get mad now we have ed sheeran he plays the instrument. thank gently caress. thank gently caress we have this lame buttwad with a guitar doing weird bad songs on radio stations I don't listen to did we need shakira to pick up a guitar? and justin timberlake? and fred durst? I guess it made them more "real", because lord knows that's what people come to shakira for. these millionaires somehow found the time to learn three chords. incredible. that's "talent" and "real music", a white dad decided while frothing in rage at disco 40 years ago even justin bieber will worm his way into writing credits on his songs by improvising a "yeah yeah" or a "whoa" he's a song writer, you guys! miley couldn't be bothered "miley, you must work really hard and pour your heart into your music, right?" "I'm the achy breaky heart guy's daughter. they gave me a tv show when I was 11." ... god drat you to hell learn the words beforehand you little trollop!!!!! your spontaneous decision to sing a song you like for your fans is only authentic if it has been carefully rehearsed! and yet, she doesn't take up the "villain role" in pop culture that thing where somebody is elevated and their importance artificially inflated as a negative example, like bieb or kanye or the kardashians or the president. people don't watch them because they like them, they watch them because they're such bitches (and in kanye's case because he really is a phenomenally great producer, I KNOW, you don't have to tell me) she denies you that she's not a "bad girl", she really just shook her tiny flat rear end because she wanted to she's just completely uninterested in providing comforting illusions of authenticity what could be more authentic than that?

i remember like 11 years ago me and my friends were listening to pop country to make fun of it, but eventually taylor swift grew on us and we'd get drunk and sing her songs very sincerely and got excited for her third album lol. her stuff is still some of my favorite music. if she wrote it or someone else thats fine either way
