There was probably some really freaking great Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Egyptian, Chinese and a ton of other ancient civ musicians and composers who put so much of our garbage bullshit to shame that listening to it now would destroy our own civilization just like it did to theirs, so what I'm saying is "the best is yet to come" obviously.

I'm gonna sound like a real shithead but art is not a contest. Everyone has their own reasons for liking some musician more than others and that's totally fine. Anyway probably Bach, Ravi Shankar (for being an ambassador to a complex musical system that is completely alien to western theory) and idk Phillip Glass or John Cage or Shoenberg or something.
