I have a German side to my family who are all at heart uptight, judgmental, cold, angry and dull folks, and at first I just figured it was a family thing, but over the years I've noticed they're not outside the norm of German mentality. Above: Authentic Germams. I mean come on, they were at the epicenter of two World Wars, Berlin Wall, architecture that consists entirely of solid triangles and squares with sharp pointy corners, Rammstein, German Expressionism, Albert Einstein whose work led to the creation of the atomic bomb, schaudenfreude, Donald "Drumpf" Trump, Austria, that evil dude with those round glasses who gets his face melted off in Raiders of the Lost Ark, and they can't even be happy with their own sausages as they refer to them as wursts.  Above: German art And this goes way back into antiqiity; the Greeks and Romans considered the Germanic people by and large savage barbarians, and you know we can take their word for it. So what's the deal, is Deutscheland just a land of sociopaths whose only joy in life is spite or are they more like European Klingons whose entire culture is centered around aggression and warfare, cause I just can't figure them out. I lived in Germany when I was a kid (army brat) and one time I laughed when I was off base and a bunch of them surrounded me, glaring and yelling. A couple of them held me down while they all formed an orderly line and then they lifted my tiny body overhead and they passed me all the way back to the front gate of the post like it was a bucket line.

dunno OP, but I'm pretty sure that correlating national or ethnic groups with inherent characteristics makes a lot of sense and I wonder if anyone else has come up with that before!

I dated a german girl for a few months and hung out with her and her german friends a few times. they were inoffensive but also frowned a lot when I did some poo poo they didn't like like call someone a "dipshit" or smoke or laugh at a joke. i dunno , i liked them.

I spent the first part of my childhood on an American Air Force base in Germany, all the German kids I knew were nice and friendly, but all the adults were very stern and taciturn. So maybe there's something to it

One of my best friends grew up in Germany and he's goofy as gently caress. Also his dad is like a million years old, German, and made awesome music (also starred in one porn in the 60s). In high school I was in a band with a German exchange student, and he was an awesome stoner hippie guitar virtuoso. So I reject this thread.

Many years ago I was an exchange student in university I got swapped from Canada and went to Germany I was in Stuttgart, here’s my observation. They were mostly all stuck up boring people except for some areas of Bavaria which had cool people, Stuttgart and that Baden Wurttemburg area were extremely “stuck up boring German” But even Germany couldn’t hold a candle to how awful Austria and Austrian people are so thank you for reading

This is extremely true lmao, I travelled to Frankfurt met up with a distant relative and he took me to a Nutella store downtown Frankfurt, then we went back to his place and watched a Rammstein DVD and he talked to me about horror movies, then watched a euro cup game and that was the most crazy day according to him

He really tried his best to deny it, despite the fact it was obviously his dad. He said, "My dad wouldn't wear a gold necklace, that can't be him", and then he asked if he could have a copy of it. He studied it, trying to disprove it, he once ran up to me and said, "This is gonna sound weird, but, his penis doesn't look like my penis, I don't think it's him." Several years later his dad died, and he asked his mom about the porn. She said, "I don't know, sounds like him though." At his funeral it was what everyone was whispering about, apparently the news made it to the rest of his family. They showed a tribute video with pictures of his dad over his life, but they had trouble finding pictures of him as a young man so they inserted some cropped stills of his face from "Intim Report". I couldn't loving believe it. I still die laughing just thinking about it.
