I saw these guys a long time ago. My favourite thing the drummer said was “it’s been a pleasure... for you”. They were really good.

I think iskra opened for them.

I’m disappointed to find out earlier in this thread that one of the guys from two of my favourite bands has gone chud. Oh well.

Punk is neat. Here have a song about cops.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eSyhGT9sTDU

I don’t think they are around anymore but they had the cretin from dayglo abortions playing guitar. Every time I saw them the vocalist had to drop his mic as soon as the set was over and run out of the bar to home because he was on probation.

No offense to anyone posting in that thread it just wasn’t what I was interested in or could relate to whenever I looked.

Thanks for letting me ramble about music stuff

you're right. ive had the nmd thread bookmarked for a long time. i sometimes post there but they don't discuss the stuff i enjoy the most.

this is a book about toronto punk band bunchofuckingoofs. lots of stories of illegal bars and fighting nazis in kensington market.

i read a bunch of chris walter's books quite a few years ago. the guy who wrote the dayglo abortions book. he is not a good writer.

if you like good pictures glen e frienman has a book of pictures from the 80s. there is a lot of hardcore bands and rap groups and skateboarding. it's real nice.

My punk rock story is I got really loving hammered in Toronto and went to see the band mature situations play. They are a gimmick band who pretend to be very elderly punk band. They brought a bunch of walkers and canes for the kids to smash up. I thought it would be fun to watch the band at the very front of the crowd and try not to move at all... that is unless someone tried to take a walker at which point I would grab it from them and try to put it back in the exact spot that it had been in. The bass player spit in my face and the drummer threw a water bottle at my head, he missed, and I continued not moving.

In hindsight it was a dick thing to do, but it’s funny as hell.

no justice is heck of good. i completely forgot about them.
they aren't considered chugga chugga poo poo are they?

i thought i would take a picture of some of the cool records i have, except i don't have many.
i stopped collecting records like 16 years ago.
i haven't had a turntable in 12 years.

the no justice post made me look at the old records.

the top left is ds-13. it's a 5" record.
top right is the oath - trans atlantic thrash terror. the vinyl is cool because it looks black, but if you hold it up to the light it's dark red.
chuck b - cuz come on, chuck b
oath/total fury - clear
infest/phc is good
exclaim, i don't remember why i chose that one. i was listening to them in the car earlier.
the swarm/morser - the swarm is the last *really* good chris colahan band
and no justice because it's what set off me looking at the old records.

my one injury was at the left for dead reunion show

left for dead
they live
think i care

a few more bands
left for dead and they live are two of my all time favourite bands of all time forever.

it was a big show for me. i heard people flew in from bc and as far away as scotland to see left for dead play.
left for dead starts playing and of course since they are a hamilton band there are firecrackers going off all over the place.
it was a bar called moe's tavern. it was one of those places that the tables were really tall. i was standing at the edge of the pit
and the vocalist from hosed up, who is a monster of a man, shoved someone super loving hard right into me and i went flying. my back hit a table.
i noticed a few days later in the mirror that i had a bruise the size of a dinner plate on my back.

it's not a super interesting story, just i find it incredible that he could push someone that hard that the next guy hit gets a big bruise.
i don't bruise easily either.

anyway, i've had that no justice band on my mind and it made me think of redemption 87, who are also very good.

NinetySevenA
Feb 10, 2013

in ontario fireworks aren't legal to use without a permit, except for canada and victoria day long weeekends.

i've don't buy a lot of fireworks but i've never seen those firecrackers for sale.
afaik you need to go to usa to get them, or buy them from someone who brought them across the border.

left for dead and haymaker are both from hamilton, and every time i've seen those bands people are using those firecrackers.
i just associate hamilton hardcore bands with firecrackers.

my favourite venue is the embassy on london ontario.

it burned down in 2009 unfortunately

when trying to find out when it burned down i found this nice quote describing it

quote:

Then: The Embassy Hotel was a dank, unsterilized pit that gave local adolescents a semi-supervised space to fulfill their rebellious desires.
The Dundas east venue was the go-to place to see live performances of your friend’s cousin’s boyfriend’s band.

also, someone mentioned earlier in the thread. the vocalist has since become a huge chud.
