Its the new iPhones where they do variable refresh right, still pages the RR drops right down and then back up when you scroll a page or whatever?

they arenít bad. theyíre actually available, which makes a big difference, turns out.

they are a little behind their desktop counterparts, but not terribly, usually.

I have a laptop with a 1050ti in it and it runs cyberpunk pretty good at medium settings, so the 20xx and 30xx laptops have to be much better than that

the nice thing about getting a ~gaming laptop~ is they usually come with nice, high refresh rate screens, so if you donít have one already, thatís a plus.

Yeah I looked at 3080 cards in the UK and the few Ti versions that are in stock are close to £1800 and maybe a hundo cheaper for the regular 3080s,

eg: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-aorus-geforce-rtx-3080-ti-master-12gb-gddr6x-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1dy-gi.html

I just looked up this 3080 laptop

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-gp66-leopard-nvidia-rtx-3080-32gb-15.6-fhd-240hz-intel-i7-11800h-gaming-laptop-lt-2ds-ms.html

and looked up a few reviews, the numbers it does on even new games are nuts, and it comes out almost the same cost as just the card above. Like you said, at least they're available.

Lots of nerd numbers but you get the general idea.

Up ta somethin'

the big downside of gaming laptops is they can be quite loud. in that MSI one you've got two blower style fans handling nearly 200W of power dissipation, that's going to make some serious noise under load.

plus with the beefy boi laptop you could still just run it with an external monitor and keyboard and whatnot and treat it like a desktop anyway.

and you could trace rays on the toilet. best of both worlds.
