yeah theres no way I would go back to flat-earth SUPERHOT after playing it in VR; maybe if they do a VR version of this new one it'll be a freeb for previous VR owners.

also what I came to post; Beneath A Steel Sky was a good old-school pixel point&click adventure, there's a sequel out today

looks good.

for VR hat-havers; FALLOUT4 and SKYRIM are available cheap via GMG right now. Skyrim is the more polished game (and even then it's a hack / shoehorn vr implementation) but I really liked the pistol gunplay in F4, plus they are both still the only true big open world VR games on offer.

I think I posted it before, but one of my favourite VR moments was in FO4VR - I was at the Drive-in location where you can build a settlement but you have to clear it out of big ugly molerats first, I plinked a bunch of them from the roof then jumped down to finish off the last couple with my pistol. Now the game didn't ship with proper positional 3D audio but a patch added it, and a good job as well, I heard a loud SKREEK behind me and even as I was turning I put my gun hand behind me and cranked the trigger, finished the 180 turn to have a dead molerat literally slide to a stop at my feet. gently caress I wish I was recording that :o:

lol another VR favourite moment; in the end stage of the Covenant quest, you follow some clues down into a sewer where you find some rear end in a top hat scientists trying to make a reliable 'Are you an android?' test, and the head science lady gives you a speech and then says 'well kill me if you dare' and I had just finished crafting a rocket powered baseball bat and spent some level-ups on melee perks. She stood quite still waiting for my response while I held the bat up next to her head, took a few practice swings and KLONK triggered the 'Big Leagues' perk where your opponent's head flies off and bounces off the walls etc. I laughed so loving hard.

What you need is to save up your ingame cash and buy the AR-C Shark machinegun ASAP as it will give you a massive upgrade over the plink-guns you scavenge off the cultists. I used it all the way through the game and upgraded it with a mid-range optic and a silencer.

The AR-C regular version is locked until a good portion of the game has passed, but scavenging up a few thousand bucks from prepper stashes (which are fun to do themselves anyway) will let you get ahead of the game with the prestige AR-C.

My only Diablo-like was Titan Quest, which was really an entertaining singleplayer play-through but drat it was a long slog (Steam has me at 42hrs but some of that was newgame+ futzing); I wish it had included a hidden counter of every mouseclick you made in-game, I bet it took a significant percentage of my mouse button life.

Idk if I'd pay the full asking for it but if you dig on Diabolo clones put this on your ITAD watchlist: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/titanquestanniversaryedition/info/

Burnout Paradise was still great though, just a shame the recent remake didn't up the traffic count, the streets are way too empty.

I just thought - also really good for physics-based impact racing; Wreckfest (by the Flatout devs)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6LQz-I-0PE

https://store.steampowered.com/app/228380/Wreckfest/

I played a few hours and really enjoyed the car-feel and the realness of the physics engine. I would say this is a little better than Flatout as the engine seems to not get your car stuck on a single roadcone or loose brick and ruin your entire race like FO did.

I don't think I'd pay full whack for WF but on sale, definitley.

about as cheap as you're going to get it, though its been down under a tenner at least once: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/wreckfest/info/

I started Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen expecting a simple open-world ARPG to run around and chop monsters; while you can play it like that it seems more balanced to a player who wants to tinker with the shitload of subsurface mechanics for the main character vocations, your follower / pawn setups and all the gear and alchemy tinkering. I made the mistake of reading some of the wiki stuff and honestly it's put me off a bit that I'm not interested in sinking so much effort in to play the way it's meant to be played.

A lot of stuff online about the Warrior 'vocation' in DD:DA says it sucks, only has half the special move slots et, pawn AI companions can't time the attacks well - all those are facts, but swinging a seven-foot sword with huge slow arcs and absolutely demolishing monsters and bad guys is very entertaining.

I got my Warrior Vocation up to the top level and the 'Arc of Deliverance' special is ridiculous, takes like ten seconds to charge in which time you can't do anything else and then you can slowly plod around to position your huge mega-hit. If you have 3 decent pawn companions to keep you safe and distract the monsters this is hilariously powerful.

Far Cry 1 was an impressive technical construction, an okay as a game. It was only the second shooter game (Serious Sam 1 being the first) that wasn't set on a dingy space station or moon, instead opting for a bright, sunny exterior location.

Speaking of SS1, it was a shame the remakes of the first game couldn't manage to pull off the wacky gravity rooms the original engine could do seamlessly, that was some of my favourite early shooter games 'wow' moments.

Looking at the Steam reviews (never a good idea usually) this version has some always-on connection DRM bullshit that neither the Epic nor the upcoming (sept 10th) GOG version do, so if that's an issue then wait for the GOG version.

Well I killed the big dragon, credits roll, any other game would have ended there and maybe given you a NG+ button; DD keeps rolling on and has a bunch of post-credit-scene missions exploring what happens after the "story" is finished. Its unexpected and an interesting twist.

Finished the main story on Hard and am considering a switch back to normal, the monsters that have spawned in the world after the dragon died are unfun levels of spongy and hard-hitting.

DD:DA - lmao I rolled in to a big chamber with my adventure party and spawned the online Ur-Dragon - a thing than has several billion HP and the whole of the online multiplayer collaborates in whacking at it in separate ten minute battles until it dies - the final hit player is crowned king poo poo and the dragon goes into a 'grace' period of about an hour where it respawns with almost no health so other players can try to kill it in 10 minutes for a big set of rewards.

I didn't know any of this, just though oh boy a big zombie dragon in this postgame arena, I'm boned and then about two minutes pass and its dead and I have armfuls of endgame armour and weapons. After reading up on it I must have hit an hours grace slot by accident after the rest of the world working on it for the last week or so. I've seen so many posts of people desperate for the 'Abyssal Armour' pieces after playing this months and months :o:

Now the ur-dragon respawns at full health and everything starts again.
