is this the place to whine about not being able to find a reasonably priced GPU? picked up valheim to play coop with a buddy and it is stupid silly fun but it makes my 1060 very sad.

yeah it is cross stitch, and I'm really happy how it turned out. I considered making it on a very dark blue fabric which would have really looked like non-phosphor areas of a CRT peeking through on the inside of the sprite, but the sprite is outlined in a dark color and it might have looked off. also it was surprisingly difficult to find good reference sprites. best I got was this sheet but if you zoom in on the full sheet you can see the resolution of the sheet is off from the resolution of the sprites leading to some sub-pixel smoothing which I had to edit out. hope my friend likes it, the SoR series were some of the first games he had.

snowrunner rules but Imandra blows. what an absolute poo poo map. if they had replaced that drat fallen tree near the garage with a wedged in trailer or truck that you could have pulled free to make the path more navigable it would have been merely tedious but nope gotta be an indestructible tree. I did see a video where someone "fixed" the broken bridge using a bunch of stacked up trailers. guess I could have rigged that over the tree.

a lot of the core mechanics in nes and snes era games just plain suck. at best they are well intended but flawed because developers hadn't yet honed the concepts down, at worse they are just ported over quarter-eating bullshit from arcade games that were more frustrating than fun. it's funny seeing long-running series keep the appearance of the mechanics while completely gutting them to make sure they aren't frustration sources anymore. people would flip out about a Mario game with infinite lives and no coins/1UPs so they keep that mechanic in but give you so drat coins and lives that there's practically no way you'll risk running out.

all of the stardew valley ports are great. about the only real complaints you can have about them are that they take a bit longer to get any updates and you don't get any mod support. which is a bit of a bummer because there are some really good mods like the Seasonal Villager Outfits mod (which not only has seasonal outfits but special outfits for each festival and for rain/snow).

Cybernetic Vermin posted:will say that the steam deck pricing is kind of where it needs to be considering what it offers. i kind of expect it to turn out to be just enough of a hassle to nonetheless quickly play second fiddle to my switch despite being 10x more powerful. I'm getting some strong "Product X is the iPod Killer!" vibes from the whole thing tbqh. sure the specs are nice but there's some indications there that the designers really didn't *get* what makes the Switch click so well. having vastly different storage types worries me the most since it means devs can't really count on a particular speed. playing a modern PC game from an SD card sounds like a recipe for a miserable experience.

I prefer an ANK as my recovery truck, with a scout fuel trailer loaded into the sideboard bed. there isn't much that can stop it but it still is a challenge to keep that all important fuel along for the ride because that's a thirsty truck. i haven't played since I got my new GPU. I need to give it a spin. Sapozhnik posted:Early Access: I think my game is shaping up nicely but I'm still a bit unclear on certain important aspects of its future direction. Perhaps I should consult with the most august and knowledgeable game design institution of all: Random Dickheads On The Internet I agree in general, but the Satisfactory EA has been pretty dope. each major overhaul they give things makes it practically a new game.

the consensus seems to be if you liked to gently caress around in mudrunner then you should also like snowrunner, but if you were into mudrunner because you thought it was a realistic portrayal of off road trucking you will think that snowrunner is a step back because snowrunner can feel a lot more arcade-ish

wouldn't motherboard RAID be going through the PCH anyway? on Intel systems at least a single high performance NVMe drive is capable of very nearly saturating the PCH-CPU connection so there isn't much room there for any increased performance. and slotting into the CPU PCIe lanes via a PCIe riser card would cut into the lanes going to the GPU which could be more of a performance cut than you'd get gain from higher transfers.

the big downside of gaming laptops is they can be quite loud. in that MSI one you've got two blower style fans handling nearly 200W of power dissipation, that's going to make some serious noise under load.

Homeworld 1 was one of those games what I loved but sucked too hard at to enjoy. wasn't it possible to gently caress yourself over if you captured too many vessels in a particular mission? like five missions later you'd suddenly get an insurmountable force because the game auto-scaled up?
|
|
![]() |
Sagebrush posted:i think that was definitely the case in some early patches of homeworld 2. Found someone discussing it, the final mission scales with the size of your fleet so if you do like I did and spend hours collecting nearly everything you can the mothership gets absolutely trounced before you can pull your scattered fleet in to defend it.
