How do people grow up racist anymore? I grew up in the 80s/90s in maine, the whitest place in the USA (aside from Utah maybe) and somehow didn't grow up to be racist.

Learn how to sing "Ebony and Ivory." If you write anything, make sure it has a diverse cast: one white person, one black person, one asian, one hispanic person. Memorize at least 2 Martin Luther King jr. quotes. Take off If someone around you makes a racist joke, look at them disapprovingly. Even if it's funny. Learn about slavery. Learn about segregation. Tell everyone that slavery and segregation and all those things were Bad, and that's why we got rid of them forever. Read one of the books your library puts up for Black History Month each year. Or at least a handout. Talk about how you wish everyone Didn't See Colors, like you. If you do come into contact with people who aren't white, don't yell any slurs at them. Remember they are people, just like you. (or, if you want to be serious, understand that everyone, including you, operates under biases. Learn what your are, and how to overcome them. Read about structural prejudice, and how to alleviate it. Think of racism as a cognitive bias to overcome, instead of some sin to atone for.)
