However he was stabbed in his eye and lost vision for several weeks, beat in gang beating and gang beating by the Inner Circle going into and coming out of his title match with Jericho, and he was forced to fight Jake Hager in an empty arena match that really would have rather been a bloodsport shoot-style sprint. He thought this was behind him when Mr. Brodie Lee, after spending some time explaining to the world who he was and what he was all about (it's cult leader poo poo), jumped Moxley and stole the belt as Moxley accepted this challenge (against protocol, mind you, but Moxley will fight them all) It's actually an interesting juxtaposition with Cody's storyline where it shows the results of a babyface who doesn't realize that the target on your back lets you say no when everyone is trying to take shots at you. Cody is advised by a council of veterans and experts, while Mox runs alone and it shows in how they handle problems like a newcomer powerhouse challenging for everything of value they have to offer. I think it's inevitable that they will have a Blood & Guts match at some point. It's a good concept, but one that needs a crowd to work well. Will that match involve the Elite and the Inner Circle? That I don't know. The Elite / Circle feud has been in a bit of a holding pattern for a while (or more accurately taking a lovely detour around the Hardy Compound) and I doubt that the Stampede match will bring it in to land. But it might. Ultimately my suspicion is that the Blood & Guts match, whenever it happens, is going to be Cody and whoever he's teaming with versus whoever Cody's feuding with at the time.
