I got my tax refund yesterday for the first time in over a decade and this donation feels a lot cleaner than giving it to garbage that wants a rapist to win

Heck yeah, I found out that my employer matches donations to the MFF 1:1. I'm fortunate enough to still be well employed, so I'm in for $200 plus the $200 match.

are there places to help get poo poo immediately needed in town to the families impacted? Thinking about all the folks in North who can't get food/drugs or even take a bus anywhere since metrotransit shut down...

Crossposting from the cool zone for anybody in MSP looking for something useful to do other than protesting:MockingQuantum posted:Just FYI for anyone in the MPLS/St Paul area who is looking to help out during the day, there's an informal "dispatch center" set up at Mixed Blood Theater in Minneapolis (kind of by Cedar and 4th), they're coordinating people to help clean up and distribute plywood, etc. Mixed Blood is a local live theater that's a central part of the minority arts and business community in Minneapolis so I trust them to know who's hurting the most. Also it's probably a bunch of local theater techs coordinating so there's a halfway decent chance that it's as well coordinated as it's going to be I'm sure there are probably other efforts, formal and informal, to distribute food and supplies to people who are struggling, but I'm still trying to figure out what/where

cross posting myself from the MPLS local thread, with the caveat that this info changes frequently as sites become full. Donation sites that I know of: Huge drop off site in North at the Episcopal church on Broadway across from US Bank. They need everything - reusable grocery bags, diapers and formula, food, feminine products, toilet paper, etc. Little Earth needs disposable dishware, charcoal grills and supplies, coolers with ice and bread, feminine hygiene, batteries (AA and AAA, D), first aid, and sanitizing things. you can bring these to 2495 18th ave s until 7pm. CTUL needs diapers, baby formula and fire extinguishers. Drop off in the back alley until 7 pm. 3715 Chicago Ave S. For fund donations: welovelakestreet.com and midwayunited.org. Also look at Black Visions Collective, Migizi MN, and Reclaim the Block. Finally, the Facebook group Support the Cities is a fairly good and comprehensive repository of cleanup efforts, where to go when and what supplies to bring along.
