LOTS of setup all over the place, dearly missing from the first eps of the series. Ehhhh kinda. It gets brought up when it's important.

TraderStav posted:We mentioned this in the other thread, but stay out of that B5 thread until you've finished the series. You do NOT want to come across spoilers and ruin this experience for yourselves. So I first got into B5 because a friend of mine was raving about it when it was being shown on TV and I decided to check it out. The first episode I saw was The Hour of the Wolf, s4e01. I think coming into it so late is part of the reason I like living vicariously through people watching from the start because it must be just incredible. The_Doctor posted:I felt like she didn’t gel very well, and it sounds like Tomita was really struggling with the dialogue in places. She might have worked it out had she chosen to stick with it, but that was her decision to make. Partially it depends on what version you watched, too. Originally she had very "military" line reads that the network didn't like from a female character and demanded that she be softened. The pilot as broadcast has redubbed all her dialogue with these softer reads, the remastered version has the originals back.

Torrannor posted:It's really cool to see all of you happily watch B5. And you're fortunate, you don't have to wait a week between each new episode, or even months between seasons, like we had to back in the day. You can watch it at your own pace. Didn't have to scour the tv guide like a hawk to work out where it had moved to S4: 11pm on Thursday evenings S5: 10am on a Sunday morning during a beach themed breakfast show

Unkempt posted:the implication here is that people on Bab 5 are allowed to murder, rape, torture or enslave anyone (of their own species) as long as they've got a religion that says it's OK. More than safe to read for anyone up through where The Doctor is (s2e5): It's clear that this is not the case, because when the Drazi started murdering each other in s2e3 it was clearly Not On.

TheAardvark posted:but then they made a big deal about how hard it was for him to get the ingredients for Bagna Cauda! shipping an entire bike up there must have been insanely expensive !!!! Anonymouse Mook posted:Not necessarily. I'm sure mass factors into it somewhat, but I would assume shipping some perishable foods would be more expensive, as you would want it shipped very quickly, or in an appropriately chilled state. A bike is just another load of machinery Yeah, it's explicitly getting the food before it spoils that's the issue. If you've ever had anything shipped overseas - like some friends of mine from the UK to Australia - it apparently can get very hot in the containers.

2x20 is my favourite episode of the entire programme. It feels like there's enough plot for 3-4 episodes, and it has some of the most iconic moments in the show (most notably Londo staring out the window, which is a lovely little shot).

Watch the films after you're done if you want to. They were produced during S5 and are far from essential. S1/S2 talk: The first three were sabotaged, Warren Keffer was included because the studio forced them to include a hotshot pilot character (who was, of course, unceremoniously killed off) Sinclair actor talk: It has come out since his death that Michael O'Hare had paranoid schizophrenia, which understandably made it rather taxing to play a character who has had his memory erased and is being potentially manipulated by aliens. On a lighter note, here's a cool interview with him, which I'm pretty sure doesn't have anything in it you won't have encountered but leave it for later if you want to play it safe! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pR5IuVptRw
