We mentioned this in the other thread, but stay out of that B5 thread until you've finished the series. You do NOT want to come across spoilers and ruin this experience for yourselves.

So I first got into B5 because a friend of mine was raving about it when it was being shown on TV and I decided to check it out. The first episode I saw was The Hour of the Wolf, s4e01. I think coming into it so late is part of the reason I like living vicariously through people watching from the start because it must be just incredible.

I felt like she didn’t gel very well, and it sounds like Tomita was really struggling with the dialogue in places. She might have worked it out had she chosen to stick with it, but that was her decision to make.

Partially it depends on what version you watched, too. Originally she had very "military" line reads that the network didn't like from a female character and demanded that she be softened. The pilot as broadcast has redubbed all her dialogue with these softer reads, the remastered version has the originals back.

Yeah, but I think that only happened once in the last 10 episodes I watched (when they were hiding from the feeder). Y'all gotta keep in mind that the only thing I've seen is season 1, which may not prioritize characters the same way as later seasons.

I said "look up" the name but I just meant that I had to make sure of it before posting so I don't misspell things.

It wasn't a criticism of you not knowing the name, it was just a comment :)

I also know the name of literally every character because I used to play the collectable card game back in the 90s.

the implication here is that people on Bab 5 are allowed to murder, rape, torture or enslave anyone (of their own species) as long as they've got a religion that says it's OK.

More than safe to read for anyone up through where The Doctor is (s2e5):

It's clear that this is not the case, because when the Drazi started murdering each other in s2e3 it was clearly Not On.

I think the DVDs had subtitle/dialogue disagreements, too. Maybe they drew subtitles from the scripts-as-written versus as shot or something?

The script as shot was basically always the script as written according to JMS (and probably the script books if anyone owns them).

Anonymouse Mook posted:

Not necessarily. I'm sure mass factors into it somewhat, but I would assume shipping some perishable foods would be more expensive, as you would want it shipped very quickly, or in an appropriately chilled state. A bike is just another load of machinery

Yeah, it's explicitly getting the food before it spoils that's the issue.

If you've ever had anything shipped overseas - like some friends of mine from the UK to Australia - it apparently can get very hot in the containers.

At the end, Garibaldi thanks the ranger and tells he may have saved the lives of a quarter of a million Narn. What did he do, exactly? Just relay that the the attackers and the Centauri are linked? You could infer that information given 10 seconds’ thought, but I guess confirmed info is better.

Londo doesn't want his "forces" revealed. Although Sheridan doesn't know it, it's a threat to Londo personally.

Y'all's watchthrough got me to poking around the Lurker's Guide for the first time in decades, and I came across this quote from Straczynski which is eerily relevant, 20+ years later:

In response to a post accusing him of trying to make the epidemic a political statement due to what was going on with AIDS at the time -

"The whole point of the episode is NOT political; it says that if you make a disease political on either side, you're gonna die. You have to set aside all that crap and just Deal With The Problem. The only "side" this episode took was in advocating compassion for those afflicted.

I have enough just dealing with what's actually *in* my series; don't compound the problem by adding things that you saw only in your own head, and which exist nowhere in dialogue or in the story. You are adding the template of your own beliefs as an overlay, and seeing this story through it. That ain't my problem. If you see this disease as political, that's your lookout. This show says that ANY attempt to politicize a disease is species-dangerous thinking. Period."

Which is horrendously naive at best - compassion for the afflicted is a political position, as current events show very clearly.

The first three were sabotaged, Warren Keffer was included because the studio forced them to include a hotshot pilot character (who was, of course, unceremoniously killed off)

Sinclair actor talk:

It has come out since his death that Michael O'Hare had paranoid schizophrenia, which understandably made it rather taxing to play a character who has had his memory erased and is being potentially manipulated by aliens.

On a lighter note, here's a cool interview with him, which I'm pretty sure doesn't have anything in it you won't have encountered but leave it for later if you want to play it safe! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pR5IuVptRw
