Yes.

The convention is that everyone who spends any time near the station speaks English. There's probably some in-universe justification for it, but really that's just because it's an American TV show. If there's a shot with a group of aliens who would all speak another language, you can assume that they're speaking some other language and that it's just being presented in English for the convenience of the viewers.

Since not everyone in the galaxy is a regular on B5, people who spend time in space elsewhere tend to pick up at least a few words in other languages for whatever business they're on. Sheridan was a starship captain, and it's plausible that he picked up a bit of the Drazi and Narn languages during that time.

Its kinda funny, since english is a sortof a european pidgin ( at this point world wide), that it kinda becomes a alien lingua franca.though i image the narn and centauri throw f bombs at each other in centauri.centaurian?centaurianese?

Also please everyone :justpost:

Yeah, but lets be honest here The station is suposed to be a closed loop, with limited resources , unless they can ship massive chunks of h20 and their hidroponic system is really really good.it would be less resource intensive just to send them home.or other more unsavory solutions.

I think earth-centric views of relative wealth kind of skew things here. Even ambassadorial quarters, the absolute height of expense and luxury in any Earth city you care to visit, are no more than a one bedroom apartment at most on B5. The poor scrabblers in down below are the working class on the station. "Hostels to home them" are what they already live in.

Yeah this is the one that makes sense and is now cannon in my head. work there, live in squalor but maybe you find a way to strike it rich by sheer luck.b5 is a trade hub that's poor in terms of wealth, but the wealth that goes through it is massive.like a space tollbooth

Have one jump gate in front of another that leads directly into the first so that you have a jumpgate ouroboros
