The heavy handedness, the attacking peaceful protesters, journalists... they've honestly brought this on themselves, and it honestly goes to show how much restraint people have that this hasn't happened more. wow. when i watched it, it sent me into an absolute spiral imagining what might happen to my friends or people just like them over the next few days. i felt sick. my entire body tensed up. i cut myself off from the internet and watched the sunset drinking bourbon. since then i saw a different video, much worse, from new york. and i realized things were inevitably going to escalate to at least this level: nationwide conflicts were going to have some police casualties, and those are going to motivate worse and more immediate violence.

sfpd did not ask me any questions. actually one of them said "i just want you to know, i think you're doing the right thing" and I was like WOW, WISH I COULD SAY THE SAME, THANKS FOR THE SOLIDARITY. but the mayor did cancel our curfew order this morning, and since nobody else protested it last night i give the two dozen or so of us partial credit. she's keeping it in place one more day so the police can disperse a big protest today. we'll see what happens.
