It's a ridiculously indulgent, bigger budget ripoff of Nightmare City (Umberto Lenzi, 1981) believe it or not. I was pleasantly surprised when I had finally seen it and ended up liking it a lot more than Death Proof. Great fun!

Plus it stars Brigitte Lin and Leslie Chung! Honestly going by the slightly looser rules here it may count from how the third act plays out. There's a particular part where a character is bounced off the walls repeatedly that is reused in Freddy vs. Jason when Freddy is flinging Jason around the boiler room. Definitely worth a watch. There's a sequel that concludes their story but unfortunately it's kind of blah as it focuses newer, not nearly as interesting characters while the ones played by Brigitte Lin and Leslie Chung are sidelined. We stream a movie to a bunch of our friends every Saturday night with it and haven't had any problems with it. It's very easy to switch which screen your streaming too so we expose everyone to compilations of cult/horror movie trailers prior to it, it's been great.
