I love how Jin just strips in front of random lady while she sits there, chills out, then climbs out while she's still just hanging out.

Especially since there's a bunch of other people bathing around there who are not totally naked.

Japan has a way, way more sane approach to nudity than the US. I really learned to be comfortable with myself from taking in an onsen every day after work, the first couple times you’re bathing with your friends it’s weird, but you get used to it, and also it’s how I met the Yakuza.

Finished the main campaign. First game I've done that for this year. I enjoyed it quite a bit, glad I stuck through with it. Yuna grew on me the most out of any character which I did not expect.

Naw, Three Kingdoms is cool and all but if you want a Wuxia spinoff that maintains the spirit of this Tsushima game with the following:

1. An apparently unstoppable foreign invader
&
2. A character so badass he singlehandedly turns the tide of war, only to be punished because being awesome is illegal

Then the answer is obvious: we need a Yue Fei game.

I keep running into a bug where when I start a stand off there's a 50 percent chance the enemy just walks off screen forever until I press triangle, instantly losing the duel and going down to a sliver of health

Is there a way to fix this?

Finally finished it with plat after the final fight. Fantastic game! Spared Uncle, and let me tell you the best time I had in this game was using the Mongol commander armour and walking into the enemy's bases, beheading the leader and ghost stancing the surrounding enemies. NEVER gets old.

50 thousand people used to live here. Now, it's the Mushroom Kingdom.
I'm playing this game a second time and it only now occurred to me that Jin was bullied and called a coward for not saving his father. That's a lot of trauma to deal with and Shimura didn't exactly help.

He was just 17...

I hit the last Ryuzo fight and the Shimura fight with both full Ghost Stance and full Resolve. I don't think either of them got a swing off before the fight was over, Ghost strikes, Dance of Wrath, Dance of Wrath, Dance of Wrath, cutscene.

I kinda want to start over, having a better handle on combat and on how to go about finding the good upgrades and outfits earlier on. There's definitely more I'd appreciate revisiting the story, too. I'm just leery since it's so cutscene heavy and they're unskippable, I don't know if I want to see every single story moment again yet.

Re: sequel

It seems pretty clear they're setting it up for Jin to remain the outlaw Ghost and get involved again in a few years when the Mongols invade again. I could see the sequel featuring Tsushima but you also now sail to Iki, get involved there (maybe take the place of that one samurai who tried to escort the Lord's daughter out), and maybe even go all the way to Hakata Bay.

That's stinking they even do a sequel, which at this point they'd be foolish not to. If they REALLY tried to milk it, they could make a third game where Jin takes the fight to Kublai and travels through Goryo to his Court or something.

Hmm, how shall I post today?

Yeah, a sequel seems inevitable, which I'm fine with. I don't think it's likely but I'd prefer if it featured a new character and maybe a different part of Japan. I liked Jin well enough but I feel like we did his arc. I think it would be odd to have it all on Tsushima again since won't that just be basically the same map?

2nd invasion could just be a standalone DLC instead of a sequel. That would justify the same map and maybe cheaper price.

I feel like there’s places to go with Jin still arc-wise. While he embraced the Ghost thing he still regarded it as a shameful but necessary burden he was taking on himself. It’s clear by the end of the game during the conversations with Shimura and helping the trader on the road that he hasn’t really thought through what he was doing on a societal level outside the context of the invasion. Shimura and the Shogun understood the existential threat an empowered and emboldened peasantry posed to their social order, Jin doesn’t seem to really grasp it at all even by the end.

A sequel’s character arc would have him reconciling his respect for the old traditions and social hierarchies with how his abandoning of them and empowering of the labor class might be what actually transform the society he was trying to preserve in the first place. Confronting how hosed things already were for the peasantry, dealing with how being an enemy of the state will necessarily result in him killing other Samurai and members of the ruling class. Becoming Jin Sakai, hero of the proletariat, training guerrilla ninja and poo poo.

Sequel would probably just have the franchise name become "Ghost of blank" instead of ghost of Tsushima and then have it dart around Japan or maybe other East Asian countries where you could still have a swordplay heavy game like China in the warring states period.

A recognizable franchise is worth its weight in gold and if you stick with Tsushima you're kind of limited to 2 games unless you want to really stretch poo poo like have it be a hold-out samurai when the Russians tried to establish a naval base there in the 19th century and you try to fight guns with a sword for some reason.

Yeah they could go the rear end Cred route and make it a generational tale with Ghost becoming a title handed down through the ages and used in times of need (minus the stupid rear end framing story of THE FUTURE).

There's a LOT of time to cover between Ghost of Tsushima and end of the Shogunate Era.

Natural sequel would be pre-Sengoku where Jin has passed on his techniques in secret over generations, not attempting to outright undermine the Samurai but knowing that this style of warfare will someday be needed, and you play the game as a young upstart from the then-unknown Iga clan.

There was an interview with Nate Fox where early on they planned on using real historical people in Tsushima but then were told by their culture consultants that those people's defendants might find that offensive so every character became fictional. They're defintely not going to use any real names in the sequel eother.

Eh, the story is what they do best for a first. The key is to separate the franchise from the story and jump to a new era and fresh story, but iterate the gameplay. Mounted combat/archery would be a big thing for the sequel to tackle, that alone would be enough of an add to make a sequel worth it, assuming it had a good storyline.

I'm cool with that but if it means another long time before we get another game from them I'd rather a sequel come out sooner if they can maintain or increase the quality.

There's not a whole lot you can do about seemingly rare bugs on consoles. It could be something completely arcane, like a specific combination of charms, outfits, and skills. I had a bizarre issue with standoffs where if I killed everyone in the standoff and one of them had a falcon, the falcon would fly away and I would be stuck in combat and couldn't fast travel even if I rode halfway across the map. It wouldn't reset my status until i got into combat again and killed everyone. Or quit and reloaded.

Back up your saves, delete the game, and re-install.
