Cardiovorax posted:I'm just kind of pissed off at the self-congratulatory hypocrisy of the industry and the culture surrounding it every time they act as if this kind of thing was some sort of actual gesture of acceptance, when the truth is that they're not really taking any risks or doing anything particularly progressive at all. Now that some people are finishing the game/getting to the second half- is it just me or do Ellie and Dina have very little chemistry? For two people who've just started dating, for all of Day 1 they don't have anything to say to each other, just environmental commentary. "This quarantine zone sure is big" "Yeah." :/ Lost Legacy did this perfectly, usually ND does amazing character work but I know nothing about Dina other than she really loves Ellie and is pregnant. The same kind of goes for everyone, especially Abby's crew & Lev. I'm super confused because I remember there were lots of rewrites to make them more likeable, so maybe I missed an optional dialogue at the beginning? My friend is horrified by the blandness of the gay relationship & the treatment of the trans character (she's both) but at the same time I see people intensely praising both, using all the opposite words of what we used, and I think that I had to have missed something.

I guess it's realistic that they've exhausted everything they could talk about, but it doesn't help me feel attached or interested in the characters, since I don't have any of the context they do. Their first kiss- a pretty huge piece of context- is a flashback waaay later lol. If it were a secondary plot, it would be fine that they're just getting along & kinda bored, but it does not feel like the right note to open with and have half of the game revolve around. I don't know if it's more of a choice to be understated, than it is a limitation of having a revenge plot to get to, and not spending too much time on who these people are & why they like each other.

Are there any actually good Lets Players/streamers doing this game? I don't mind commentary, but they're often really dumb and get lost in circles for 20 minutes/spend another 20 minutes in the upgrade menu. Gimmie a show!

Are there any more games with that mood of failing at stealth, frantically running away from poo poo chasing you?

I like the TLOUs because (as far as I know) it's unique in being less of a power trip. It's tense and if you gently caress up you need to run, vs a stealth game where you're scored on clearing the room. I haven't tried Dishonored, I'll pick it up next

I haven't been into factions but I really hope some of the designs make it onto Artstation or something. The art & level design of these games was always the coolest part EDIT: From resetera FalconImpala fucked around with this message at 02:37 on Dec 15, 2023 |

The battle pass, seasons, battle royale stuff definitely rubs me the wrong way. Like it's chasing a trend that ended 5 years ago. I guess a "normal" multiplayer game can't exist anymore, it has to have engagement loops & content calendar & be a massive success
