started to feel very defeated reading through this thread but these things were happening and are still happening. not knowing about it didn't change anything that isn't 100% selfish. all of these people being brave and in a safe enough place to be able to share their stories is very good and one of the very few things that can ever fight this sort of disgusting behavior. at least against some of it. predators and abusers should be afraid. i don't mean "because of this" or "now", but as an objective ideal in the future. they should be the ones shaking and hiding instead of the victims

anonymous one-liners very well could be people who are otherwise nowhere near being able to out their abuser; people who see what's going on right now and feel the closest they've ever been to being able to speak out. maybe they have a friend do it because they badly want to but aren't there yet. there are visible allies right now standing with these people, and the hatred being rained down on them by pieces of poo poo is spread thinner than it would be on just one person. like that thing with elp, it's easy to turn the tables and see an unwell person trying to jump on the bandwagon and ruin someone's life. but you can't totally dismiss every one-liner in good conscience either. dunno what to do w/ that.

there is an image of a fake sms creator being used to show riddle's wife contacting his accuser "before being deleted, cropped, and reposted" but that in itself may be faked in order to discredit the accuser. I really don't know. definitely, anyone who is trying to hush this up as quickly as possible is in the wrong.

Thanks to DrVenkman and @CommieGarfield on twitter we can summarize that riddle's wife did text the victim asking for messages Matt had sent her. the woman tweeted this as a screenshot but forgot to block out the phone number, so deleted that and reuploaded it with the number partially obscured. the reason there is a weird 'remove ads' button in the original image is not because of a fake image creator but because of a third party app, textnow, that uses ads. There isn't anything proving fake messages or anything like that

i don't want to derail but i also don't want to post in another thread about this when it was brought up only here and is something weird to talk about on the subforum. I'm sorry for my part in making anyone uncomfortable to post here due to contributing to any sleaziness or anything else of that nature. i don't really feel like i have done much in that regard on the forum but one thing i remember clearly is posting that image of hikaru shida posing with the katana and it kind of became a thing for like 2 pages of a thread with people saying "a-oo-ga" type messages and whatnot. in any case, i wish there was some way to keep anyone from apologizing by first and foremost telling everyone to consider that they have had bad things happen to them too, and going into detail about them. If you take everything else away, that apology says "I was defending my friend without knowledge of the situation. I'm sorry." It's much more of a statement for saying "I am one of the good guys" during a very scary time to be a bad guy. not making a judgement/ruling about him in this post
