Virginia has a bad flag (seal on a bedsheet) but the lady on the seal has a titty out, so there's that.

WOW good find, she has her titty out, is standing on a dude with her bare feet femdom style, and is holding what appears to be a giant dildo of some sort. This flag is lit, amazing that they got it past the censors.

I hadn't even noticed that! People say the US is a prudish country, but I don't know many other countries that would have an X-rated BDSM flag like that. If this is what always happens to tyrants, sign me up!!!

Unfortunately the flag fails to mention which specific right the tyrant was infringing on it was the right to own people

Shady Amish Terror posted:My home state of Kentucky has a pretty lame flag. Kentucky flag redesigns on reddit fall into three camps: 1. Horses, not terrible. I guess but its first thought and too on the nose. How many flags are based on a distinguishing economic product? Canada and that's it. This one is by far the most common. Flag of the commonwealth of the Indianapolis Colts Uses fleur-de-lis which is really only a symbol of Louisville and not Kentucky as a whole This is my favorite of the horse flags because it looks Ancient Greek. 2. Confederate/ Civil War stuff. Not much to say about this. Racist as hell (obviously) and unimaginative to boot. I won't go into this too much because you can imagine what they all look like but this category is responsible for this monstrosity and I had to look at it so now you do too. 3. Other I was going to post about handshakes which was my favorite camp because it takes the state seal and reduces it down to its most distinctive element: the handshake which is a widely-recognized symbol of unity and never used on flags but then I realized there weren't that many handshake designs so I'll just post KY redesign flags that aren't horse or confederacy related here. This flag uses as a Tulip Poplar as its central design element. Most KY redesign flags that use a plant use goldenrod. Both are official state symbols. Handshake flag! According to Reddit inspired by the catalan flag Pretty dope worker power flag. Makes me want to go strike a coal mine company. Knock-off of the Stars and Stripes. Uses Navy blue for Kentucky and Goldenrod as the state flower. 15 stars because Kentucky was the 15th state the two stars represent "unity" according to reddit. Actually looks really good, probably my favorite of the flags posted here.

But no other state flag has a different pattern on the reverse side! Is it true that for many states, the flags date back to the Civil War when they were used as regimental banners? That would seem to track with the whole seal-on-blue thing.

Red white and blue was fine when you used them because those were the three cheapest colors of dye. Very utilitarian. Now its just lack of imagination.

Libya in particular has had a range of flags over its tumultuous history; no question which of them is my favorite though:SlothfulCobra posted:Personally, I kinda like that state flags are awful. It discourages people from developing loyalty to their state rather than their country. It's also a little harder to develop unique symbols in the Americas because the old world is absolutely littered with old coats of arms or symbols for every square inch of land to adopt, while in the new world everything has to be a little ad-hoc. I really like the Maryland flag for all the symmetry and mirroring going on in it. It's very slightly controversial because the red/white portions were adopted by pro-confederates as a symbol during the Civil War era. Powered Descent posted:Earth: http://flagofearth.org/ :salute:

not strictly speaking a flag, but I like Gateshead's logo because I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a pun not 100% because I couldn't find anything explicitly saying so and helmets are a p common heraldic symbol and there's one on their actual coat of arms, but like 99%
