Anybody got any idea what it would cost to host all the hobby boards, say from this one down excepting maybe TCC (has anyone said harm induction?)? There isn't anywhere on the internet that has such a collection of good and available information as the userbase here, on any topic let alone all the ones these boards cover. No disrespect for Games but a. it's really big, and to a lesser extent b. the subject matter is a lightning rod for some very unpleasant people. Wouldn't it be easier / more effective to ask one of the admins to do a compressed DB dump and perform incremental updates offsite until D-Day? Or are board admins != sysadmins here?

I made parachute accounts and all, but if Jeff is being straight with us all and he's taking everything, I think that gives pretty much everyone what they wanted out of this and thus I don't see a reason to abandon ship. Not sure if Lowtax was clever enough to put in backdoors on the servers or by sabotaging it all by pulling billing accounts for hosting fees but that's kind of standard when you have shady, unreliable people running organizations.
