Known for his screaming antics on stage — as well as berating audience members — Grape Ape's career fizzled out shortly into the 1990s.

Jaguars! got St. Francis of Assisi.

One of the cleanest comedians of the 80s stand-up era, St. Francis relied heavily on observational humor to dazzle audiences across the US.

Prof. Crocodile got "Wild" "Bill" Slater III.

Using an array of props in his act, Bill had the stand-up world on fire in the mid 80s. His career is still going strong well into 2020!

The Voice of Labor got Bobcat Goldthwait.

Known for his acerbic black comedy, delivered through an energetic stage persona with an unusual gruff and high-pitched voice. Bobcat would go on to become an auteur film director.

Coolness Averted got J. Wayne Miller, PHD.

His material—encompassing a wide range of social issues including religion, politics, and philosophy—was controversial and often steeped in dark comedy.

Heartstrings Tugboat

Doctor Dogballs got Yanni.

His stand-up comedy persona makes use of paraprosdokians spoken in a wandering falsetto tone of voice. The confused, childlike delivery of his material produces the intended comic timing in a manner invoking the "wisdom of children" or the idiot savant.

Heartstrings Tugboat

GODSPEED JOHN GLENN got Sinbad.

A former Pentecostal preacher, he performed stand-up routines that were characterized by an intense style, similar to charismatic preachers, punctuated by his distinct scream.

Heartstrings Tugboat

BUG JUG got Louis Pasteur.

One of the biggest stars of the 80s, he reached a broad audience with his trenchant observations and storytelling style, and is widely regarded as the greatest and most influential stand-up comedian of all time.

This comedienne reached new heights with her routines on race and sexuality. A recipient of many awards and honors, she is one of fifteen entertainers to have won an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award.

Ice Phisherman got Joe Weber.

A pioneer of the 80s comedy scene. He is known for his distinctly lethargic voice and slow, deadpan delivery of ironic, philosophical and sometimes nonsensical jokes, paraprosdokians, non sequiturs, anti-humor, and one-liners with contrived situations.
