lol so windows wants me to restart. I came home to this blue window. the tray icon for restarting has a RED DOT and this threatening message at "risk" of being "out of date"? mate, my pc my choice gently caress off would ya. I purposely turned off every possible thing so it wont force me to restart but god its trying sooo hard. like whats so important?

I got a Compaq running Windows ME that I haven't restarted since 2003. The drive sounds like scraping a hockey stick across pavement every time I try to close Bonzi Buddy.

i use linux and so can choose to apply updates and reboot whenever i want  it just doesn't always start up again afterwards

I found the bitmap of “it is now safe to shut down your computer” on my brother’s windows 95 machine and added “, jerk” at the end. he never figured out how to undo that.

my non-farm employer enforces mandatory computer update restarts every 2nd Monday at 0930hrs when I have no work to do and can wait for the Remote Desktop to take minutes to beam my desktop from a “cloud based service”. it’s fun.

i get around this by calling the power company and canceling and then re establishing my service whenever my computer needs to update. works like a charm.
