I do actually feel bad for modern comics because smartphones make it a bitch and a half to refine material as you go. Unless you get super lucky and either arrive fully formed out of the gate like Bo Burnham, or do all your constructive work behind the scenes like Mulaney, your entire growth process is now well-documented and makes you look terrible.

Bad standup: person reads their manifesto about minor things that annoy them, doesn't actually crack any jokes about the thing they're complaining about. Sometimes has stupid props like puppets or a guitar. People laugh because they're speaking in the same annoying cadence all standup comics do. e: This post could be a standup routine.
