You can't get the source code as written from the final executable. The executable is made by compiling the source code into a form that the machine can read, and it's exceedingly hard to reverse engineer just from the assembly.

I mean, mechanics can't be copyrighted, but code sure can, and depending on whether they just replicated it themselves or straight up rom hacked the game, that could be legally enforceable.
