Isn't a 22in mtb huge for someone 5'8"?

OP probably wants a flat-bar bike of some sort

Fortunately the difference between “hybrid bike” and “flat bar gravel bike” these days seems to be “how cool looking is the frame/how aggressive is the geometry?”

a 1x drivetrain would be a really nice feature for a novice IMO but that seems to be mostly priced out of the budget hybrid category in favor of a front triple that the rider will never ever shift

The manufacturers gotta prank the industry every few years just to keep everyone on their toes.

Press‐fit bottom brackets was a good one.

hookless rims and bb30 both exist to make it cheaper to crank out carbon fiber parts without any regard for the person who has to ride the goddamn bike

Cervelo is a Dutch / Canadian brand.

I *thought* they were Italian, but have no idea why. I guess I've been bamboozled by marketing :argh:

a $1700 claris bike sounds like a bad value to me. $2600 for grx hydro is fine if all the other parts are nice too

I have some DMR v6 pedals with plastic pins, they work better than you'd expect and are priced appropriately for a bar bike

e: looks like Race Face Ride is like a Chester pedal but without the metal studs
