In Avatar 2 the entire reason the space marines are trying to capture Sully is because he's a Chief and leading a rebellion. But as soon as his family is threatened he abdicates and goes into hiding. The marines find this out and they STILL go chase after him.

Quaritch has a personal beef with Sully so I can see it being a personal vendetta. Also just because Sully abdicated his position doesn't mean he's not influential. Even with the time passed the RDA still considers him Public Enemy Number One. Jake Sully is more or less the Osama Bin Laden to the RDA.

What the RDA knew is that Jake betrayed them, then rallied together the Na'vi clans and told them about the RDA's vulnerabilities, which led to devastating casualties. The RDA was only barely managing to win when Ewya sent the wildlife after them. Then in the second movie, Jake seemingly goes a long distance. For all the RDA knows he could have been travelling far to recover some secret weapon or relic from a cache, or rallying more support. The RDA had no way of knowing that Jake abandoned the fight against them.

That's a lot of back story cut from whole cloth. It really isn't any deeper than "bad guy holds grudge".

I mean the realization at the end that jakeskully has is that he can't run from this and they will hunt down and kill his family regardless of what he does, and ended up taking his eldest from him to hammer the point home.

Sounds like the third movie has been retitled as "Fire and Ash". In Cameron's outline for the sequels, he had the third movie labelled as "The Seed Bearer". My guess is that after how disappointing it was that the second movie rehashed the aesthetics of the first movie, they're really trying to play up how 3 is going to have lots of new things to see.![]() EDIT: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cool shot. Looks like we are in for cool dragon vs dragon aerial combat? Only other instance in movies I can think of was the start of Eragon but you only saw that for 10 seconds. The guy on the left has a rocket launcher. Seems like these Na'vi have allied with the RDA, as expected. Seems to be unclear whether or not this taking place in Ash tribe territory, or if they are invading the tropics. Moofia Boss Val fucked around with this message at 03:43 on Aug 10, 2024 |

I'm glad we're finally getting to the volcano level, although I already hate the damage-over-time mechanic it has!

The movie where the Na’vi go to Earth is the sewer level then?

I feel like if the Navi invent high-flying airships, they really need to invent shirts at some point. It gets cold up there, and they got no insulation on their bodies at all.

A few things I wanna point out about the concept art: 1. The woman in the fire appears to be wearing ceremonial kuru from other na’vi. Also the claw hands look cool. 2. Those big wind jellyfish pulled by the flying stingrays go all the way back to Cameron’s original concepts for his first un produced movie Xenogenesis. Can’t wait to see them. 3. Those new flying creatures look awesome. They seem to be doing the lip snarl thing the way those panthers in the first movie did. Doesn’t look like the ash people themselves cut off their own kuru, but if they do, how do they tame these beasts?

New images from D23 Brazil:![]() Looks like they are deliberating what to do next. ![]() The Ash Tribe here seem to already have RDA weapons by the time they encounter Quarritch, so either they looted the ruins of Hell's Gate (the RDA base in the first movie), or the RDA has been entreating with Na'vi tribes offscreen during A2 or during A3. ![]() ![]() I wonder if the timely arrive of these wind traders' was by accident, or if the leaders deliberated and decided to send for transportation to reach the Ash Tribe.

A couple days ago, a trailer for Avatar 3 was shown to theater owners at CinemaCon. Naturally it isn't in the interests of these business owners to be a snitch and leak it. Hopefully the trailer will be published online soon. The first trailer for Avatar 2 went up in early May, so maybe it is a month away at most. We got an image of a new ship from Empire magazine: ![]() ![]() Wow. No way the heroes with their bows and arrows and their flesh and blood mounts could defeat that through force of arms. The whale in the second movie didn't even destroy the seadragon, just damaged the deck. The seadragon was only destroyed from the inside because Spider grabbed a fire extinguisher and smashed the controls. No chance the heroes will be able to do that again, let alone repeat it for all of these ships. I am guessing the heroes will have to flee inland away from the naval motherships, but they might be dogged by the dragon gunships until they can escape their refueling range. I am a little puzzled as to how the RDA could build such a large military force so quickly. Yeah, they introduced those little spider construction robots in the second movie that can hasten production, but the manpower that would be required to staff these ships remains limited. Not enough time has passed for human colonists to have children that could grow up to help staff the ships, and the RDA can only import so many people at a time via their spaceships. Here, we are looking at 4x Seadragons (which have... what? 100+ crewmen each?), a humongous ekranoplane carrier (thousands of people like an aircraft carrier?). Not to mention the air force in the background, and possible destroyers screening ahead dropping sound bombs to keep the whales away.

Avatar 3 trailer is out. At least it has been uploaded in 4k right away this time unlike with the A2 trailer. The trailer was not very well made, makes the movie look rather generic. The A2 trailer was more competently crafted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb_fFj_0rq8 Jake being paraded through Bridgehead with crowds of humans there is incoherent. IIRC 13 years passed between the end of Avatar 1 when the original Hellsgate people got sent home, and when A2 takes place, and Bridgehead is a massively scaled up operation. The vast majority of Bridgehead's populace would not be made up of original Hellsgate people who saw their friends/coworkers/fellow humans get drafted and then killed by the traitor, and we haven't heard of any massive devastating A1-esque battle happening in the A2 prologue skirmishes. I would imagine most people would not have cared about some fishing boat getting wrecked. I don't think after 13 years there'd be enough people at Bridgehead with a vendetta against Jake to justify crowds this large. Unless this takes place later into the movie after Jake has led an operation that killed a massive number of humans. ![]()

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Jake had been painted as an infamous traitor among the humans of Bridgehead for years.

Why don't the humans just blow up the planet and mine their dumb rocks from space while the blue monkey people float away
