2017 Thread 2015 Thread 2014 Thread 2013 Thread So, I have a lot of extra free time on my hands for the next month or two, so I am resurrecting a forums favorite. I create you in NHL 20, and follow your career until you retire. Last time I did this, it took a few months, but I am going to try and get through this career in about a month or so. Some things have changed since I tried this last, and I certainly don't have the time to do all the pre-draft stuff I used to, so we are going to streamline this a bit. I post a start of season update, an All-Star Game update (I will do educated guesses on ASG selections), End of Regular Season, then Playoffs/Offseason/Start of next season. Since my time is still somewhat limited, I am going to limit registration to 25 players, over 2 draft classes. I will focus player creation on the player type you choose (SNP get high shooting accuracy, PLY get high passing, etc). Also, this year I am asking for a character trait or 1 attribute you want to customize to add into your character. Or even, a real-life hockey player to model your play after. For example, in the past, Pleads has been a PIM machine (so, I would set his discipline low), or you want to be the next Iafrate/McInnis/Chara (so you would get 99 Slap Shot Power), or you are a multi-concussed goon who only knows how to check (so, you would get a high Checking rating). You don't have to use one of these three, so be creative if you would like. However, since we are expecting Seattle to join the NHL, I will be adding them as an Expansion Team beginning with the 2019-20 season (because that is how the game makes it happen). So, we will have 32 NHL teams and 32 AHL teams. Burnaby Aces will be the AHL team for Seattle, since 1) The game does not have Palm Springs as a city to be used, and 2) I'm lazy and that is the team that is auto generated. Much like what will really happen in the NHL, Arizona will move the Central Division, and Seattle will join the Pacific division. I will track all of your stats, awards, and any transactions on a Google Spreadsheet that I will get up and running once this gets started. I ask that anybody that decides they want to join this, to please bookmark the thread, follow it, and contribute, because I don't want to spend the next month just posting to myself in this thread. So, going through, getting my behind the scenes stuff ready... I learned that this game auto-populates the AHL affiliate of the expansion team into the North Division (Eastern Conference), giving them 9 teams and keeps the Pacific Division with 7, and there is no way to adjust it. So, the AHL standings are going to be unbalanced, but whatever.

Pleads posted:Interested to see how many levels of bullshit EA has added to the normal bullshit process of creating and managing skaters. Luckily, very little has changed in 3 years (lol). There is one nice addition that has been missing for the past 5+ years, that I am excited to unveil tomorrow or this weekend. And, one feature is back after weirdly being absent for a few years, which will make more work for me (but you will enjoy it). I have updated the draft classes in the 2nd post, and I took some artistic liberties with your pathways since I was vague on what I asked for. This time around, it is not as difficult to track players pre-draft in the game, so I hope you enjoy your amateur teams.

For example: big names like Taylor Hall, Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton find new homes. Central Scouting Preseason 2020 NHL Draft Projections  The Kraken end up with a pretty decent team from the players available for the Expansion Draft. I am not going to do a mid-season update of the 2019-20 season, since there isn't much affecting you guys happening. But, I will do a final recap of what a simulation of a regular 2019-20 season would be like, with final standings, and award winners tomorrow afternoon. Then, I expect to do a shortened version of live posting of the 2020 draft tomorrow night during the 1st intermission of the CBJ/TOR game (like 8:45pm Eastern).

If you draft smart, you can assemble a Stanley Cup quality team. He wasn't even the best player available for the Flames... Giordano was also available.

End of 2020-21 Regular Season Update    Transaction News ANA gets: Reilly Smith (84), 2022 3rd Round Pick VGK gets: 2021 2nd Round Pick, 2022 2nd Round Pick BUF gets: TJ Brodie (84), Martin Frk (80) LAK gets: 2021 1st Round Pick, 2022 1st Round Pick Comments There wasn't any change in the Draft projections at all. Van Buren finished 3rd in points in the AHL, Banks finished 8th Banks finished 2nd in goals in the AHL A handful of other trades happened, but I'm not going to detail all of them I guess they changed that the AHL plays 82 games now (even the Pacific division), but it helps that both seasons end on the same day now. It used to be a big pain because the AHL season would end 2-3 days after the NHL season and it would make things difficult to track in the AHL. 2021-22 All-Star Break Update    All-Stars Prep Hemlock - AHL All-Star Game (Central Division) Transaction News 12/21/2021 - PHI - called Pierre Delecto up from Lehigh Valley SEA gets: W. Karlsson (85 OVR), 2023 7th Round Pick VGK gets: A. Raanta (83 OVR), 2022 4th Round Pick, 2023 3rd Round Pick Comments Soup Van Buren basically lives in the press box in Detroit. Healthy scratched, all season. Tom Nook missed a few weeks with a Bruised Hand In late November, Vancouver called a forward up from Utica and started to scratch Large Adult Son for a bit. Adam Banks missed over a month from a concussion Mike Smith got hurt in early January for LA, and the Reign's starter got called up, so Tom Nook is currently the starter I didn't see anything about DJ Exile getting injured or anything, but a lower OVR goalie has starter numbers and DJ Exile does not. No idea why Pierre Delecto got some ice time in Philly, probably on the 3rd D pairing, but he is currently a healthy scratch The AHL still technically goes by Points percentage, so that is why they aren't exactly in order. 2021-22 Trade Deadline Update    Transaction News 2/12/2022 CHI gets: P. O'Bourke (??), L. Stankoven (70), 2022 2nd Round Pick NYR gets: J. Toews (88), D. Keith (83) Comments Since I'm able to get multiple updates out per day, I think I am going to reintroduce this update, pretty much halfway between the All-Star Break and the end of the season (March 2nd). Nothing exciting happens during the first half of the season, so the December 1st update is not coming back. So, the first goon trade happens, and Potatoes O'Bourke gets traded for an injured Jonathan Toews (and others) In early February, Detroit finally let Soup Van Buren dress. He immediately started and is now their 1st Line LW Prep Hemlock leads the AHL in goals. Adam Banks leads all rookies in goals and points, even though he has played 14 less games than the 2nd place guy. End of 2021-22 Regular Season Update    Transaction News None Comments Adam Banks lead all rookies in goals and points, so he should win the Calder. Prep Hemlock lead the AHL in goals Surprisingly, Jørgen Jørgensen didn't lead the AHL in PIM. That would be Ryan Reaves (275 PIM). For comparison, the leader in the NHL (Brendan Gallagher) had 84 PIM. Jørgensen didn't come close to the most fights either. Brett Gallant (known fighter, and pretty nice guy) lead the league with 37 (Reaves had 35). Fun fact, in real life AHL players are supposed to be suspended 1 game each time they get into a fight after their 10th fighting major, and then 2 games for every fight after their 13th fighting major.
