I found a rules page today for an old bad webcomic's official IRC channel. They've got a lot of rules, some of which are just early 2000s internet culture things, others in-joke references to the comic or subcomics or community back then. The comic was bad, but a "sprite comic" was novel at the time and somehow the site became a hub for several different sprite comics for a while until webcomic hosting focused businesses arose. The IRC rules page included a ban specifically for SAquote:13.) For clarification, the following sites contain content that rule 7 bans. I knew this was going to be bob and george before I saw the link just from the way you were talking about it that comic had a super weird fandom back in the early internet days and back then you know it was like gang wars you belonged to a group and that's the team you were on you know like it was goons and furries and newgrounders having knife fights in the streets after dark and throwing loving bricks into skulls and it's calmed down a lot now and people who didn't live it don't understand the violence but it made sense at the time because the internet was islands and you had to go out of your way to swim to the next island now we all live on the same street and you can't throw a brick without it bouncing back in your face and it isn't like i miss the dirty knifefights of the olden days but you know like a reformed leather-clad gangster i still feel like my glory days are behind me
