People think that 'nothing matters' is sad or depressing but they haven't thought about it hard enough. Understanding that nothing we do matters is optimistic and compassionate.

Everybody's crazy all the time because even the laziest look around you reveals that everybody is going to die, and humans are on a timer. Eventually, on some timescale, there won't be any more humans.

I see people going crazy constantly, all around me. It makes me feel empathetic and I can't help but feel that the only worthwhile reason for existing is to try to make everyone a little more comfortable while we all wait for extinction together.

It's a freeing philosophy because it makes it okay to fail. At the end of the day, you do what you can, it doesn't matter. How do we minimize suffering? Basically only far left politics have any real answer for that. If you're agitating for socialism you're going to fail constantly. The only way to hold onto the last bit of sanity you have is to believe deep in your heart that nothing matters.

I liked this post. History is the stories about the people that came before us and what they did and what they got.

Go up on the roof and look at the world and see, every life that came before you lived in it too. You haven't lost until you're dead, no story ends before life stops. So why not stay in it for a bit longer? See how the story ends, and where it went before the final word is said.
If we don't give up, the others can't say they won. They haven't won.

Why don't you stay the second time around?
