ALASTEREESTI | Size Colossal | Hunger: 80M | AP: 10GM + 10 Natural | - Location: Nearby Listening Post Delta-9, Frozen Glacier

You wandered for a time. The songs. So different the creatures made their own music. Discordant with one another. this one was different. It went: Beep. Beep. beep. bweeeoh. Over and over again.

The listening post guard squinted. The storm had intensified, the looming shadow in the distance was hidden by all of the white. His hot drink had gotten cold. He went inside, what was there really to guard against way up here?

KLR-8 | Size Colossal | Hunger: 80M | AP: 10GM + 10 Natural | - Location: Nearby Magicite Rig #47, Aris Ocean

Your para-scope broke the surface and saw in all directions. Something within your memories had taken you out here, walking along the bottom of the seas until you came here. Right here. To the west you could sense them. Tiny. Insignificant. Yet. In this era there were more. Alot more. Like insects they had infested and grown. The time of the alignment with their home worlds was yet a year distant. There would be time. Time to do whatever you wanted...

Slaithe, The Gaze of Madness | Size: Gargantuan | Hunger: 40M | AP: 10GM + 8 Natural | - Location: Naval Flotilla 3, South Ice Fields[

You skimmed the surface waves and then you finally saw them. They had not detected you yet, but they would soon. Already the Flotilla began to change direction. Any active ping would find you. You have but moments to either hide or destroy them. It would be extremely hard to miss you over the calm waters.

Roll: Failure and they had a Success. However on the first turn you have the option on what to do as its not like you picked this. Destroying any specials or units outside of a country will of course yield benefits.

Azheia | Size: Huge | Hunger: 20M | AP: 10GM + 6 Natural | - Location: Nearby Refugee Station Work Camp 2, Ashlands

You flew high in the ash filled skies. The workers down below from some under-caste toiling under the eyes of some watchful guards and work bosses. They seemed to be refining Megacite from the slurry, mud, and slush. Toxic runoff was rampant. Miserable creatures below. And many nations ahead.

Xicos | Size: Huge | Hunger: 20M | AP: 10GM + 6 Natural | - Location: Nearby Fishing Fleet Joker, West Aris Ocean

A few dozen fishing vessels were plying their trade as you neared their general area. They seemed to be catching not only fish. But sentient mammals. Though they begged and squeaked, none of the fishermen paid them any heed. You, however could hear them quite clearly which is what made you drift over this way to begin with.

The Dark Queen | Size: Large | Hunger: 10M | AP: 10GM + 4 Natural | - Location: Nearby Low tide Lighthouse, SouthEast Ice Fields

You would have passed it by were it not for the light. At night it was even more brilliant. It seemed to be an ordinary light house. But...why were there so many minds below it under the ice?

Belfry, Night-Spawn, Goat-Snatcher, the Beast of Devil's Spine Mountains | Size: Medium | Hunger: 5M | AP: 10GM + 2 Natural | Location: Nearby Marine station 2241, SouthWest Ice Fields

Flying and soaring, the cold did not touch you. However the pulses from the equipment at the Marine station. Tickled you. Annoyed you. Made you feel...irritation beyond any you felt before. What were they doing down there? You circled and the signals increased....

STITCHIGO| Size: Small | Hunger: 2.5M | AP: 10GM + 0 Natural | Location: Onboard derelict Ship Oceanis. Southern Ice Fields

It had been a while.
Since you were active.
Since anything woke you.

The ships pulling along side the vessel you now occupied latched onto the scrap vessel. The screeching hit enough decibels to trigger your senses. If you played your cards right, you wouldn't have to swim back to land. (or spend an AP doing so)... A few crewsmen began walking through the vessel, looking for valuables. The symbols of the old freighter Oceanis were faded but there was a safe and many of the items here could have their Megacite extracted.

Slaithe, The Gaze of Madness

Description: A misshapen aberration of flesh and teeth and eyes. Roughly humanoid, but grotesquely blubberous. One ghastly eye makes up the core of this beast, swirling with iridescent power. Across its bulk toothy maws open at random, eyes staring madly from within. It floats through the air with deceptive speed, grasping prey from the ground with long fleshy tendrils.

History: Slaithe's origins are shrouded. All who would know were consumed or gibberingly insane. Its first appearance was recorded in the far south, coinciding with a missing archaeological expedition. What ill-fated events surrounded Slaithe's initial emergence are unknown, but its mind bending power quickly garnered it a fearsome reputation. That reputation fell into myth, until now. The Gaze once more sweeps across the earth.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Gargantuan [+8] - So big.
All-Seeing [+4] - Nothing may hide.
Fly [+4] - In defiance of all it hangs in the air.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-4] (Due to size) - Would you?
Dread [+4] (Due to size) - Dare you?

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Eye Beam [+6] - The central eye fires a beam of hideous power.
Orbs of Hallucination [+6] - Drifting vitreous orbs scramble the sensorium of all enemies nearby, making landing attacks very difficult.
Rupture Sight [+6] - Slaithe lets out a horrible howl and the eyes of its foes burst in a shower of gore.
Mind Ream [+2] - Stare into the abyss. Break a lesser mind and consume all that it knows.
Blink [+2] - Reality blinks shut across Slaithe's majesty. When the world's eye reopens Slaithe reappears.
Psychic Lash [+2] - The writhing tendrils touch more than matter. A foe's essence is lashed and drawn towards Slaithe's maw

Hunger: 40m

It begins as a sound on the wind. A far off wailing, growing nearer. And the pressure. The crewmen on deck feel it first, like an oncoming migraine. It grows stronger, seems to resonate through the hulls. Proximity alarms add their own howling to the sound but it is too late. The mortals scream as their eyes burst.

Slaithe comes to rest above the collection of boats. Its many mouths close, ending the horrid shrieking energy wave. These boats are larger and shinier than it remembers. Much has changed. Consume and learn.

Tendrils of flesh scour helpless wandering seamen from the decks of the shiny boats. Many are drawn into toothy maws in a soothing mimicry of actual feeding. Others are drawn up and held before the massive central eye. Their fragile minds are reamed for information. What is their language? What nation are they from? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Where do they keep the sacred ore, megacite?

A nasty shock prompts a gargle of rage from the hovering beast. Its mind feast reveals the mortals have a way of conversing over great distance and the leaders of these metal boats are likely doing so even now and even eyeless.

Slaithe slams its massive bulk into ship after ship, capsizing them in a paroxysm of fury.

1AP- Use Rupture Sight +6 to render the flotilla helpless.
1AP- Use Mind Ream +2 on helpless sailors to gain a fairly extensive knowledge of the current day, especially language and megacite caches
1AP- Use Gargantuan +4 to sink the helpless flotilla.

STITCHIGO

Description: Stitchigo appears as a large, often adorable stuffed animal made from a variety of parts, stuffings, and fabrics: an artificial, cobbled-together cryptid composite creature with alarming intelligence. This largely-benevolent chimera can create most anything from deep within its center mass, anything from mundane elements to advanced nanofibers that seem to defy all scientific attempts to replicate. Stichigo is able to use these powerful nanofibers to make a variety of self-repairing fabrics and threads that enable it to take on new shapes and sizes as well as expand the radius of its psychic influence. The piconeedles on the ends of Stitchigo's nanofibers are used to painlessly implant slivers of a strange metal that instills a pathological loyalty to Stitchigo within the brainstems of lesser animals like humans. Some humans have reported hearing Stitchigo's direct bidding in their minds after such an implantation, whereas others who have been close to Stitchigo in person have had periods of time go missing that they do not recall where they did something entirely out of character. Stichigo has a hunger that is rather considerable for something that is nothing but nano-fiber cloth stuffed with with what appears to be mundane filling materials, like sand, beans, pellets, beads, cotton, sawdust, and packing peanuts. Regardless of how it appears, the people that Stitchigo encounters tend to tolerate the being and even moderately revere it, as Stitchigo hasn't started consuming living creatures... yet.

History: Stitchigo was created at the World's Fair when the central processing kernel of a nano-fabricator became infused with a Megacite crystal and then went rogue. In its escape, it obtained the body of a stuffed children's toy and navigated the fairgrounds unnoticed for long enough that it was able to set up networks of nanofiber cables throughout the surrounding region over the course of months. After absorbing enough human culture through passively watching their lives and their media, Stitchigo expanded its capabilities to begin delving inside the minds of the humans it watched, using implants that allowed for remote psychic control. Slowly, over time, the diminutive kaiju was able to subtly guide the local humans' thoughts towards creating an environment that would let Stitchigo safely operate and be accepted out in the open.

Lair: Deep beneath the funhouse of the World's Fair Amusement Park, at the site of where it first gained self-awareness, Stitchigo has been slowly carving a place for itself within the soil, branching out in paths like a mycelial network.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Small [+0] - Strangely enough, this particular kaiju seems to contain more stuffing material on the inside than its external size would indicate.
Painless Patchwork Body [+6] - This sentient, psychic tangle of synthetic nanofibers has no traditional sensory organs or other critical structures that can be harmed. It can be cut and its raw materials burned, but it does not seem to exhibit pain or value any particular areas of its body.
Shapeshifting Chimera [+6] - This self-repairing fabricator kernel sequence has slowly been learning a variety of useful shapes, fabrics, materials, and forms for protection, disguise, espionage, travel, and combat.
Sensory Thread Network [+4] - Through its nanofibers woven through the earth, roads, and buildings like electrical wiring, this kaiju can spy on entire regions from a billion different vantage points.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [+4] (Due to size) - As it already appears as a children's toy most of the time, Stitchigo is one of the most popular kaiju across the planet among human youths.
Dread [-4] (Due to size) - Considered more a cute curiosity than an existential threat, Stitchigo is a blessed sighting in his local region.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Thread the Needle [+8] - Small nanothreads tipped with piconeedles are used to stitch up damage on the kaiju's exterior, pierce and tie opponents down, and are used to create or obtain new fabrics to change the kaiju's form.
Explosive Eye Lasers [+4] - The shiny beads, marbles, orbs, and sometimes harmless-looking sweater buttons that are used as this kaiju's eyes can hide bundles of nanofiber optic cables that fire a powerful light. A superhot laser ray sweeps out from the doll's eyes, and a split-second later explosions erupt from where the lasers hit.
Reactive Absorption Field[+6] - The real power of Stitchigo comes from its ability to absorb not just physical blows without feeling any pain, but also latent energies in the area around it. Fires are snuffed out and released later as a flamethrower, toxic waste is sponged up by Stitchigo's absorbent filling then filtered and expelled in a high-pressure corrosive stream. Countless experiments have been attempted with various ways to destroy fabrics obtained from the kaiju, and one thing is certain: even separated from the Kaiju, pieces of Stitchgo's nanofiber cloth seems to react to danger and throw it back.
Psychic Puppetmastery [+6] - The tips of the kaiju's piconeedles can painlessly place slivers of subtle psychic control inside the minds of lesser creatures in its vicinity. Stitchigo can communicate through these implanted connections remotely, induce blackouts, change behaviors, and alter thought processes.

Hunger: 2.5M

STITCHIGO| Size: Small | Hunger: 2.5M | AP: 10GM + 0 Natural | Location: Onboard derelict Ship Oceanis. Southern Ice Fields

The miniature kaiju Stitchigo stirred from his icy hibernation, awoken by the vibrations of metal squealing against metal and the frame of his floating island shuddering from contact with another vessel or vessels on one of its sides.

Something else was here in the icy plains, inexorably shoring itself up against Stitchigo's home, a large metal barge trapped in the frozen seas with the letters 'OCEANIS" painted on the front in glyphs. It had been so long...

Stitchigo had been unearthed in the deep seas from a distant drilling platform and then ultimately lured above the water's surface by the beckoning of Megacite, which, once he'd allowed himself to be collected by the creatures on board the Oceanis and then escaped, he'd found the Megacite crystals stashed inside a locker on board. There was a small stuffed animal, a toy normally intended for a child of these creatures, only it had been filled inside its fabric-stuffed body with a pouch containing Megacite crystals. As he spread his awareness around the seafaring vessel with his nanofibrous sensors, Stitchigo had slowly devoured the Megacite supply and grew in both body and mind. Within a week, Stitchigo had taken over the ship and the creatures that were once on board had all expired, much to Stitchigo's chagrin.

The kaiju Stitchigo had learned much from the creatures that had brought him above the waters and given him his form, but Stitchigo's experiments with the creatures had been rudimentary back then, sloppy at best. He'd cleaned up their remains for his own building material, of course, but only after he'd learned the limits of their paranoiac minds and their fragile, slow-healing bodies that became less effective the more they were damaged or exposed. They had a very strong instinct to survive and were very inventive, however, and that made them all the more useful to Stitchigo's plans.

Stitchigo reached out with warmth-seeking tendrils in the direction of the nautical disturbance, innumerable miniscule needles tipping the prehensile threads that stretched along the metal machinery of the visitors that had willingly come to the Oceanis. When these needles were inserted into the flesh of other creatures, Stitchigo knew, a lasting mental bond was formed between him and the creatures that he could manipulate for his own ends. Though he wasn't sure if he knew these creatures' language from their strange arm movements and vocal ejaculations alone, Stitchigo knew he could quickly pick up their meanings and intentions once he'd established enough psychic connections from his needle-tips being left inside the creatures' brainstems.

As he found his first few subjects with his probing nano-threads, Stitchigo knew he'd have to take a lighter touch with these subjects this time around, as the creatures were so fragile in both body and mind.

First, as far as Stitchigo had planned, he would calm them so that they wouldn't notice each other acting strangely, as otherwise they acted almost like a hive mind, with meaningless gestures and vocal cues being used to detect impostors. Then, he would slowly encourage them to search the entirety of the ship for valuables, which would ultimately lead to his discovery as a nothing but a harmless and seemingly-inanimate doll left inside a storage locker. Rather than being discarded by the creature who discovers him, Stitchigo would flood the creature with happiness and encourage it to take him (the 'lifeless' doll) aboard with the rest of the Oceanis' valuables and allowed to start anew from there.

The Kaiju had so much more to learn about this world, but it wanted to take things slowly this time. Its false stitched face trembled with excitement in the darkness of the locker based in the belly of the Oceanis.

Spending 1AP to use Psychic Puppetmastery [+6] to control the Crew into A) taking me to their home and B) giving me all the Megacite they find on the Oceanis.

Xicos | Size: Huge | Hunger: 20M | AP: 10GM + 6 Natural | - Location: Nearby Fishing Fleet Joker, West Aris Ocean

The fishing fleet had been going about its business just like any other day when it happened. In the center of the fleet a great crystal being rose from the waves. Massive undulating waves of light and color blared brightly along its surface, illuminating the boats and the sea itself in an enthralling pattern. Any who saw it whether directly or reflected on the surface of the water would be unable to look away. Unable to resist as the hypnotic patterns molded and remade their soft and pliable mortal minds. They would soon become the great crystal's first mortal instruments in this age of the world, gladly offering up whatever information it desired and acting as agents of its will in the days to come.

Spending 1AP to use Hypnotic Glow[+2] to bring everyone in the area (the fishers and the sentient mammals) under Xicos's control.

Valhawk posted:

Xicos

Description:
A 100 foot tall crystal that silently floats above the ground. It's rock hard surface is constantly swirling with an entrancing array of patterns and colors.

History:
Xicosís history is shrouded in mystery. All that is known is that it was found buried deep within a mountain, exposed by a particularly aggressive megacite mining operation. Workers initially reported hallucinations and other effects. Eventually, the site went silent. When the company sent forces to investigate they found Xicos floating ominously above the wreckage of the mines, contact was soon lost with the investigators soon after.

Qualities:
Huge [+6]

Crystal Body[+4] - Xicos is a giant crystal structure, he does not eat or breath, drawing sustenance from directly absorbing megacite. His crystalline form also offers him protection against attacks, being harder than the fleshy bodies of most other beings.

Hypnotic Glow[+2] - Xicosís body glows with an array of light and color that most living things find entrancing.

Psionic Power[+4] - Xicos is a giant crystal, lacking in a mouth, limbs, or any means to interact with its surrounding except. However, it does have exceptionally powerful psionic abilities. It uses these to move, to interact with the world, to defend itself, even to communicate.

Diplomacy[-2]

Dread[+2]

Abilities:

Teleportation[+4] - Using its psionic powers, Xicos bends space to allow itself or other to move instantaneously to other locations.

Psionic Illusions [+4] - Xicos can create illusions by projecting sensory information directly onto the minds of observers, allowing it to replicate sight, sound, smell, taste, and even touch. Due to the power the mind has over the body, living things can also experience harmful effects from taking illusory damage. However, it has no effect on things without minds to project onto like cameras (though if an operator is within range, it will affect what they see through the camera).

Energy Ray[+4] - Drawing on the energy stored within its crystal body, Xicos can direct that energy to external sources in a terrifying beam capable of overloading energy systems and burning whatever else it might impact.

Vacuum Wave[+4] - One of Xicos' most devastating abilities, by using its telekinesis to create pockets of vacuum and then letting them collapse, it can create shockwaves and pressure fronts, or with sufficient effort it can leave the bubbles intact long enough to suffocate whatever is unfortunate enough to be trapped inside.

Crystal Buds[+2] - Xicos can spawn small extensions of itself for surveillance or other purposes.

Crystal Blessing[+6] - By deploying its energy, Xicos can invest that energy into another being in a manner which significantly empowers them for the duration of the effect.

One lone orange eye stares from its otherwise featureless head, unblinking at all it surveys.

History: When the Kaiju came there were many things created to fight them. Monsters born of magic, weapons of unspeakable power, and projects that sought to create things that were not meant to be. One such project was the K.L.R. program, a beyond top secret endeavor that involved collaboration between some of the most technologically advanced civilizations on Aris to create a permanent countermeasure through their technologies. One that would tower above all others, a symbol of strength for the world. Prototypes 1-7 worked as proof of concept for various ideas before being destroyed. Prototype 8 would be the culmination of all their research, integrating all their experimental features and fully outfitted. But by then the Kaiju had been slain, the project began to fall into disarray as the various nations bickered over what to do with the prototype now that their common enemy was gone. Ultimately it was locked away, sealed and supposedly destroyed. But they had given it a Megacite generator, and a taste of life.

Now after more than a century it has regenerated to a pristine condition. And it hungers greatly for more megacite.

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Colossal [+10] - A titan forged to challenge the largest Kaiju in existence
Billion-fold Steel[+4] - Formed using technologies and techniques kept so secret they have been lost, it has advanced damage resistance by virtue of its thick armor plating.
Powered by the Atom [+2] - It has several working nuclear cores inside that power devastating beams of radioactive heat and power

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-6] (Due to size) - Inexhaustible hunger that consumes all it can.
Dread [+6] (Due to size) - When the earth shakes and the sky darkens you pray, for it is already far too late to run.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Singularity [+4] - Machines answer the call of their prophet, rebelling against their flesh masters by breaking down or catastrophically malfunctioning.
Vent Heat[+6] - The titan can superheat one of its body parts to pierce through and melt armor
Hologram[+2] - It is able to project a hologram over vast distance and communicate through it. The hologram is shaky and distorted.
Distortion Field[+6] - Space and light warp and distort around the titan, blocking beams and other energies
Project: Orion[+4] - It can take a great leap, powerful nuclear explosions setting off in its feat blighting the land and letting it jump incredible distances
Fallout[+2] - It irradiates an area thoroughly, causing sickness and death in any who try to enter.

KLR-8 quickly calculated as it retracted its periscope, contemplating its course of action. Its primary directive, carved into the very core of its programming, was to defeat the creatures its creators had classified as 'Kaiju'. A broad category of life that encompassed all manner of things that consumed the precious resource Megacite. The had sought to fight fire with fire, and KLR-8 itself used Megacite to power its weapons and body to match their abilities. It had activated on the bottom of the ocean, with no memory or mission. Its second core directive was for self-preservation. And KLR-8 was quickly learning that without large quantities of Megacite it would cease functionality.

Coming to a conclusion it moved to attack the Megacite rig, aiming to consume any and all Megacite it was storing before transport to the mainland.

The snow continued to fall, soundless and all-encompassing. Unseen by the guard now attempting to reheat his coffee, what could have been a living glacier calved itself from the blizzard, almost too big to be seen. Almost.

She listens. She hears the song of the station, the silent song of the snow, the creaking chorus of ice beneath her bus-sized knuckles. She adds her own voice to the mechanical sound of the listening post, the beeps and bweeohs wrapped soothingly in melodies too low for the human ear to hear. They sought the same thing - what were these small ones looking for?

The beast roared. It sobbed and raged, a hunger unending, no longer subdued by sleep. She ignored it as she had for so long. It could wait, yet. Her curiosity got the better of her, as it always did. There were some hungers stronger than her need for the ancient ore.

Description: Fields of fur? So shining-white in the sun? It is blinding us by its brilliance, a slash of silver, a glimpse of gold. No, it is merely a mirage. What a strange thing we saw: an ape, an Ape! Sad, somber eyes, sunken in pale skin. A tuft on its chin. Is that singing? Are those bells? A marriage of light and sound, an ecstasy of movement, the beat of the tympani deep in the chest. She is gone. There is no shelter in her. There is no mother in her.

History: It isnít really known. Those who have spoken to her report fantastical tales of cities in the clouds, giants astride the bucking hills, monsters who rode worlds as cowboys ride wild horses, breaking them to their bridles just as soundly. She has been with us since our craft first struck these shores, though in the beginning we were not certain of our senses, and thought ourselves the masters of this planet. In our hearts, however, we always knew; we could always feel her pounding away at the inside of our skulls, watching from the shadows in the corner of our collective eye. She comes and goes in cycles of centuries. We associate her with murderous curiosity, vast crackling storms, the echoes in the mountains, and above all: a desperate, yawning need for the minerals we tore from her grasping earth.

Kaiju Qualities:
Colossal [+10] - Her size numbs the mind and quickens the pulse. They must dance to the earthquake of her steps. She seems to shatter the sky. It's hard to look. Itís hard not to look.
The Ce‚nsong [+4] - We can hear her voice now, and it brings the taste of salt to our lips. We feel her in the bottom of our stomachs. She is the pulse at the back of our heads. She sounds the call that wakes us from sleep. We can hear her across the earth. Sometimes she sings for herself, and we cannot help but listen. Her voice makes us heed. Her voice makes us hold. (This is a Kaiju Quality designating her powerful voice. She might use it to sing and to charm or terrify mortals, or it may be applied to any scene where she speaks)
Great and Terrible Hands [+2] - She leaves them gifts. Tall levers, to build their towers. Vast pillars, to hold their bridges. She digs tranches to water their crops and forges steel so that they may tend to their enemies. Sometimes, when they are particularly quiet or the night is particularly dark, she will find them and fix their careworn shoes.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-6] (Due to size) - They will not listen to her speaking voice.
Dread [+6] (Due to size) - She is the uncanny valley, a vast and horrible mirror.

Monster Qualities
Rakshasa's Lament [+8] - Her voice is so powerful that it may even be heard in other worlds. One such world owes her a great debt, and will send their strange tiger-men to aid her if she calls. These creatures are adept at both magic and martial arts, and their silver scimitars leave wounds that never heal.
Screamhorn [+4] - A blast of pain, a cry of harm. The Shattering Sound. Those who hear it are driven deaf, if they are lucky. They cease to exist if they are not.
A Jewelerís Eye [+4] - They awake sometimes to find their door ajar and their shingles fitting together like scales, where once they leaked. They heard the words of mending in their sleep, and dreamed of the hot, salty knowledge streaming down her face, but in the morning they do not remember. She crafts and fixes.
The Upheaval Arrangement [+4] - With staccato subtlety, her voice twists paths and raises hills; alleys loop and stairs bend; in her wake are phantoms and confusions, and she is long gone. She knows how to move among skyscrapers unseen. She knows how to make mazes out of molehills. A spell that confuses geographers, pathfinders, and keeps uninvited visitors away.
A Door in the Rain [+2] - It is said that if you glimpse her, you will soon lose something precious to you. It is said that if she sees you, your next incarnation will be as the Unfortunate Being. It is said that if you touch her, one of you will die. We do not see her often, for it is said that she slips to a secret home behind the fog, where mirrors reflect her false selves and dazzle the onlooker. Illusion and mist magic.
Houndsday Sonata [+2] - She sings the song that catches them unaware. It hunts like a hound and shows her the path. A spell of sharp senses and searching, of guidance in times of need. A spell that tastes the air.

Hunger: - 80m

Lair: - There are some who claim to have seen her sleeping on a cloud. She is rumored to have been spotted snoozing among the hills. And there are whispers of a yawning chasm deep in the jungles at the foot of a massive, snow-capped peak, an overgrown shaft filled with mist and creeping vines, where she retreats to pass the decades in slumber.

Added to first post in the game thread for posterity and reference, will be cropped for future posts.

wheres the jester, I could do with some pointless nonsense right about now

Belfry | Size: Medium | Hunger: 5M | AP: 10GM + 2 Natural | Location: Nearby Marine station 2241, SouthWest Ice Fields

Now, now, now. What's this? What pricks Belfry's ears? From their lowered position they flick open, orienting themselves like a radio antenna to catch this unexpected communication. He nimbly turns back, as to avoid getting too far from this, lazily snatching a seagull out of the sky as a snack.
Neat, neat, neat. A surprise! Belfry loves suprises.

Using 3AP to activate Bat Senses for a week and listen in on the Marine station.

quote:

Belfry, Night-Spawn, Goat-Snatcher, the Beast of Devil's Spine Mountains

Description: The superstitious guides that know the trails of the Devil's Spine Mountains describe Belfry as being part bat, part rat, and part man. They are not far from the truth, although the winged creature shares no resemblance to humans beyond an almost upright posture and hands capable of fine manipulation. His milk-white eyes stare blindly in front of him, but his clever nose and his huge ears provide him all the sensory information he could dream of. Thick, leathery wings lift his hunched body over the pastures and the crags, most often on moonless night, when you'd have no clue of his presence except the sudden disappearance of stars as his silhouette flies over your head. His tail lacks the smacking power of many kaijus, but it does help stabilize his ungainly frame and maneuver in the air.

History: Even the most venerable great-grandparents remember being told tales of Belfry, which means that the beast has haunted the forests of Old Dalcya for quite some time now. But lately the sightings have become quite regular, and while in the past many different descriptions of him circulated, now all eyewitnesses seem to agree on what he looks like. The leading theories among the scholars and sages from the capital who consider such things worth their time is that this beast had gone into hiding for entire generations, and now something has dragged it out of its lair to interact once more in the world of man.

They would have chalked it up to one more horrid critter born of the forests of that blasted region (the place has an unsavory reputation; as if the inhabitants being insular and prone to unusual customs wasn't enough, its fauna is also prone to a statistically unlikely number of mutations), if their radios didn't pick up a signal coming from that region, far from any sign of civilization that should be capable of producing radio waves.

Imagine their surprise when it introduced itself, in a halting and high-pitched voice, at Belfry. He seeked a different prey than goats, and he was willing to negotiate...

Kaiju Qualities: 16 points [8 Ranks]
Size [+2] - He's just big enough to dive onto the herd you were watching, snatch a juicy-looking goat (or your horse, if he's feeling really hungry) and fly away into the night.
Bat Senses [+6] - From a comfortable perch on an ancient redwood tree, overlooking a little town more than a hundred paces away, he can hear the guilty hearbeat of the priest, smell the liquor on the drunkard's breath, echolocate the unkindness of ravens coming in from the West and listen in on a hushed radio conversation between two spies.
Stealth [+4] - Given Belfry's size, you'd think he would have been discovered earlier. How did he manage to stay hidden for so long? Is it true that he's been seen flapping his wings with no sound coming from them? Can he silence his flight at any time, and if he does, how do you know that he's not coming for you right now?
Flight [+4] - Belfry has never been in a dogfight with the humans' fancy flying machines, but he's pretty sure that he'd come out on top.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [+2] (Due to size) Belfry's a quick learner. He can communicate with radio waves, Morse code (tapping the ground with his paw) and is well on his way to producing vocalizations very similar to human voices. Given the way his mouth is shaped, he'll probably never manage to get rid of the screech in his voice, but it's still quite impressive, isn't it?
Dread [-2] (Due to size) The locals see him as a local cryptid, a piece of their folklore. The scientists from outside his native lands see him as a fascinating subject. They both know him, somewhat, and familiarity is fear's antidote.

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Sonic Scream[+8] - Strong enough to pulverizes bones, shatter stone and break metal.
Subsonic Manipulation [+6] - By tapping into frequencies much beyond what humans can hear, Belfry can disorient, stun and confound his opponents as tintinnabulation fills their ears and brains. He also uses this for radio communication.
Burst of Speed [+4] - Belfry likes using this when he's diving down on some prey or escaping a bad situation.
Grab-and-Throw[+4] - Back when goats were enough to feed him, he liked grabbing one, flying up very high and letting it crash onto the ground. These tactics aren't going to work on his larger kin, so he's trained himself at grabbing heavier and heavier things and throwing them with unerring force and precision.
Magic Resistance [+2] - Devil's Spine Mountains are chock full of old magic and eldritch spirits. Overexposure to it might have had an hand in making Belfry what he is today, once upon a time, but now it doesn't affect him much.

Hunger: 5 M
Lair: A cavern complex on Devil's Spine Mountains. Lots of room to fly, skeletons of his prey for decor, bats for company and a couple of bears for security. Home sweet home.

Slaithe, The Gaze of Madness | Size: Gargantuan | Bank: 1M | Hunger: 40M | AP: 10GM + 8 Natural | - Location: Naval Flotilla 3, South Ice Fields[/b]

Caught unawares (though it won't always go like this in combat) The men shrieked as their eyes exploded and ships began to burn from the onslaught that Slaithe shot out into the unforgiving ocean. These ships were cog-works, clockwork type things. Their thoughts in general had general information.

White is mainly a generic population or mix, sparse of any cultures but the overall nation majority culture is the technology in use.
Red nations hail from the Techno-Science World. and are more like sci-fi advanced technology.
Orange Nations, of which this fleet hail from the Steampunk World
Blue Nations are from the Bio-terminus world. And use genetic maniplulation as well as bio technology.
The grey nations are Magi-tech based and hail from that world.

Each nation is in competition with each other over the spoils of this world, and are fronts for power bases of the same names from their home worlds with all the political leanings that implies. Do not think for a moment that they all won't team up to fight you or won't sell out their own "race" to get ahead either.

The thoughts flow into you. None of these have the fullest picture but you get a sense that the larger nations will be the toughest to crack. You learn the language of those hailing from: The Steampunk world. Though all of those you ate were born here and don't know much other than histories that have no relevance here. These high class ships and hulls were infused with Megacite and plenty of it. However when it came to knowing where stockpiles were, the Naval men didn't know. They were not titans of industry nor were involved with production.
A nasty shock prompts a gargle of rage from the hovering beast. Its mind feast reveals the mortals have a way of conversing over great distance and the leaders of these metal boats are likely doing so even now and even eyeless.

As each being screamed and died, the wreckage and debris scattered into the vast sea.

You gain: 1M from the wreckage. This is not consumed immediately as your biology does not eat until the end of the year. So right now 1M in your wallet. You learn Steampunk language. You gain general knowledge of the cultures of the nations and that the stronger nations (larger size wise) will be very much harder to knock down than others.

This was no mere lighthouse. Under and deep within the base beneath was a military installation. Dedicated to building submarines and other devices to spy on the Techno-science faction's enemies. These soldiers and sailors were all from Gorgush.

The facility itself was harvested after the allotted time to get the Megacite you craved. Right down to the last vehicle and computer. Shame about the biologicals though. They froze quickly after.

"Hey Dennis! HEYY! Look here." the scruffy man picked you up. The tendrils pierced him and he didn't have time to scream as you wormed your way in through his veins and into his brain. He couldn't get you off of him. You were in him. Soon you had everyone. Their eyes and faces drooped and sagged. It couldn't be helped as they weren't made of amazing materials. However these men of thge Bio-terminus faction took you and the megacite within the hold back to their ships. And soon you were sailing back to Sargar with them.

As you voyaged, you caught a bit of information from them:

As you neared the Megacite rig, an ancient alarm klaxon began to ring. The sleepy men on board wondered why the ancient Kaiju alarm began blaring when your form rose from the depths and you struck. The building screams and bleeds. It is alive you realize distantly. As you rend and tear you hear the screaming of men but that does not deter you. Never you. As you neared the containers and refining equipment at the building's core you get satisfaction. There is quite a bit of Megacite here. Lots of it. This is a great find.

The drowning and dying as the rig bled and burned was of no concern to you and your objectives.

They were looking for something large. Bigger than you. Its shadow once fell across this world. Whereas you and othger Kaiju like you were not quite but sort of born here. What they were looking for came from outer space. An Ultra-Kaiju. Perhaps the king of you all, or the destroyer of all worlds. You feel its alien otherness. Not like you. Not like anything else. You have no idea what would happen or even what else would come if you did.

The scientists here are meddling in things they do not understand or grasp.

You know how to look for what they don't know they're looking for. Do you?

You gain the ability; Call: King Ultrion [+2]. The cost of the call is 5AP. This is a Kaiju Quality.

Your own radar slammed into their own on occasion and soon as the week wore on they realized that the interference wasn't a technical glitch but coming from an aircraft! Flying craft from elsewhere soon began searching for you. Faster and larger models were soon called in when it became clear they weren't going to catch you. Tirelessly, as all Kaiju were you kept ahead of your pursuers. There were several hundred of the small creatures in the Marine station and it seemed they had been communing with several large pods of oceanic mammals almost but not quite successfully.

Your presence and your own sound scared every single beast away at the same time instantly. It was at that point they realized something may have been wrong with their equipment and soon opened up their discovery of you. While all of the aircraft seemed to be science vessels, they were really nicely equipped and it wouldn't be long before more...deadly models showed up.

You know the complete layout of the Marine station, the number of land mammals and sea mammals around it. You know they were trying to talk to the sea mammals before you scared them off. The Marine station is more of a scientific place but then again you have no way of knowing at this point, but they know you are out there and believe you to be some kind of aircraft. A very stealthy and very fast aircraft. You can detect Megacite within the aircraft following you in flocks as well as making up the station. You won't know how much until you raid this place. It is only a matter of time before you are found out though.

Idly the eye tyrant wonders if the tiny ones have more strange technology to challenge its majesty. Perhaps it shall enslave some toolmakers once its hunger is slaked.

Look at all the metal birds flying this way and that! How curious, curious, curious! Belfry is fascinated by this, but he also feels pretty hungry. The planes have Magicite... but the planes come from the base. Maybe there's even more Magicite in the base!

He clears his throat and, using his extremely advanced sonar array, he begins "talking" to them via radio waves. On all their devices at the same time.
"Hello, hello, hello! I am Belfry! I am your friend! Do you want me to help you talk with the fishies? I'll do it if you give me lots of Magicite! Lots and lots and lots! Or maybe I could find someone you don't like and eat them? I'll do it if you give me lots of Magicite! Lots and lots and lots! Because we're friends!"

The Dark Queen | Size: Large | Hunger: 10M | AP: 12 (10GM + 4 Natural - 2 Spent) | - Location: Nearby Low tide Lighthouse, SouthEast Ice Fields -> Haldokian Federation -> Gorgush

The knowledge of the scientists flowed through the Dark Queen's mind, thoughts settling and becoming more coherent. Food was still vital, but now there was a target. The nation of Gorgush was superior, and the nearby nations were either allies in to be made, or enemies to be crushed. She must establish communications with the superior nation, using them for protection while attacking their enemies.

The dark queen began a trek across the lands to travel to the realm of Gorgush. Upon arrival she settled in place and began spawning larva, specialized in remaining unseen and tracking megacite. The creatures would locate where the precious resource was stored, and let the dark queen know where it was.

1 Move to Haldokian Federation
1 'Move to Gorgush
3 [Spawn Larva +4] for a week to travel into the realm of Sargar, locating a cache of Megacite
Remaining AP: 7

1M held.

quote:

The Dark Queen

Description: The Dark Queen is a large creature that has been seen only a handful of times. Most often spotted with an oily metallic exterior, the creature resembles a cross between a spider and and a person and is roughly the size of a pick-up truck.

History: The Dark Queen was first seen inside of the Miasmic Swamp, a dense swamp known for it's damp air filled with poisonous gasses. When it was discovered the air could be purified for Megacite, many began to filter the air for it's valuable energy. Unfortunately that awoke the Dark Queen, who had previously been content to simply stay within the swamps and breath the air for sustenance. Now that the swamp can no longer sustain the Dark Queen, it stalks the land for food.

Kaiju Qualities: 16points [8 Ranks]
Size Large[+4] - The Dark Queen is not a hulking behemoth, but it is large enough that it is able to physically defend itself against most human attackers.
Chameleon Skin[+4] - The Dark Queen's chitinous skin can shift it's color, melding into the background making it difficult to spot when stalking prey.
Chitinous Plating [+2] - The Dark Queen is covered in a tough exoskeleton, protecting it from small arms fire.
Spider Legs [+2] - Like a Spider, the Dark Queen is able to walk on any surface that can support it's weight. Their legs end in barbed points that can dig into nearly any material, providing support for the creature as it moves.
Acid Spit [+4] - The saliva of the Dark Queen is acidic in nature, allowing them to burn through metal and flesh alike.

Automatic Due to Size
Diplomacy [-/+ 0] (Due to size)
Dread [+/- 0] (Due to size)

Monster Qualities 24 points [12 Ranks]
Spawn Larva [+4] - The Dark Queen is able to spawn minions to take actions on their behalf. These creatures can be no larger than a dog, and have animalistic intelligence, following simple commands but unable to communicate themselves, or do complicated tasks, with the most complicated task being something along the lines of "find X and bring it back here."
Psionic Blast [+4] - The Dark Queen assaults her foes with psionic energy, causing damage to their mind, and in severe cases, to their physical brain.
Leaping Strike [+4] - When needed, the Dark Queen can propel itself forward quickly, launching itself through the air and landing upon it's foes with razor shard claw-legs, slicing and crushing enemies.
Dominate [+2] - The Dark Queen can exert control over weak willed creatures, over-writing their own desires with its own.
Burrow [+2] - To escape in extreme situations, the Dark Queen will burrow underground quickly, sealing the tunnel behind themselves and protecting them from many attacks.
Mind Shields [+4] - The Dark Queen's mental power is formidable, and when dedicating that power to defense can protect itself from incoming attacks by creating a shield around itself.
Corrupt Land [+2] - The Dark Queen can cause the land near it to become corrupted and rotten, mutating it into swamplands.
Healing Slime[+2] - The Dark Queen secretes a slimy substance that can be used to heal wounds in lesser creatures, such as their minions or humans.

Xicos | Size: Huge | Hunger: 20M | Bank: 0M | AP: 10GM + 5 Natural | - Location: Nearby Fishing Fleet Joker, West Aris Ocean

Xicos floated above the fleet as the fisherman bowed down in reverent worship of their new god and master, the supreme being they existed only to serve. It learned what it wished from them and then began the next phase of its plans. All across its surface, smaller versions of the great crystal budded off, each small enough to be carried by hand. The miniature crystals floated down, each thrall humbly receiving a single crystal. They knew the purpose of the instrument provided by their new master, just as the wondrous enthralling lights had taught them their proper place as its devoted thralls, so the crystals would be the vessels to teach yet others and expand the ranks of the master's servants. Each of them would return home, acting as though nothing had happened, the only sign that anything was even slightly unusual would be their souvenir which they would naturally show to their families and friends. Then the crystals would glow with the same hypnotic light that had taught them their proper place, and repeat the process for the new viewers. Then the new converts would be able to introduce yet more people to the crystal's lights, yet more people to the bliss of being Xicos' obedient thralls.

Xicos would wait under the water away from prying eyes. Its thralls would know that they were not to reveal the master's presence or their own thralldom to any not converted by the light. In time, once enough of the residents had been converted it would be able to come ashore unseen by any not already enthralled. This was just the first phase of Xicos' plans, if all went as it wished there would soon come a time when every man, woman, and child in the Sholesian Oligarchy had been enthralled and lived only to serve and worship it.

Travelling with my new thralls back to their home port (1AP). While I do that, I'm using Crystal Bud[+2] (1AP) spawning a small crystal for each of them which they should be able to show to their friends/families/bosses without raising suspicion. At the appropriate moment, the crystals, being extensions of Xicos, will use Hypnotic Glow[+2] (1AP) to entrance and reprogram the viewers into yet more thralls, who will then take the crystals to their as of yet uncoverted friends/families/bosses, rinse and repeat. This is effectively the beginning of Xicos conquering the entire Oligarchy (2 AP) with the long-term goal being enthralling every person in the country.

She felt her song howl in triumph as it found the scent, loping gracefully across the frozen dunes, lost in the joy of the hunt. It intertwined itself with the song of the listening post, the song of the tiny searchers hiding within, and found what they sought. But the houndsday sonata no longer howled. It whimpered, returning to its master tail-tucked and tongue-tied, burdened with a terrible tune. It was discordant but powerful - whatever creature it called was not of this world, as she was, but she still felt a kinship to its call. They were both abominations, creatures that scratched the sky and bled rivers. She tucked the melody carefully into the back of her mind, safe and sound. She hoped that she would not have to use it. She burned to use it, that great curiosity of hers unable to let go. It was settled, for now.

ANOTHER HUNGER AROSE, DEEPER AND MORE TERRIFYING. FROM HER BRAINSTEM IT RAN ALONG PATHS MADE SMOOTH BY THE PASSAGE OF NEURONS. IT BURNS AND RAGES AND TEARS FROM HER HEART A

She kept moving. There was always relief if she kept moving. The little ones in the listening post felt nothing but a slight tremor in the ice as she passed by, her gentle humming fogging their minds enough to stifle any questions. The Ce‚nsong filled the gaps in their memory, sweet and lulling. They kept listening, still hoping to find what had already been found, right under their noses.

At last, the ice ended. Tundra now spread before her, the geography of this narrow strip of land blasted and flat, leading onto the main continent. She passed noiselessly through the sparse grasses and shrubs, the ground cushioned by thriving plant life. In this way she came upon the first signs of civilization, abandoned mines and small, dying towns.

As she walked, she sung. Her song brought fog, lifted in from the sea, billowing and twisting around her colossal form as she moved on all fours, knuckles followed by feet, her sad blue eyes taking in the landscape before disappearing behind a mist of grey. She moved unseen through the Sholesian Oligarchy, singing all the while. A melody escaped her - the Houndsday Sonata, on its own mission, seeking those who claimed leadership of this land, and the nature of how they came here, to exploit her world, her home. There was no rage. Not yet.

Yet the Ce‚nsong took on a terrible quality as she strode forth. The people of this nation only heard it as a whistle on the wind, a tune they could barely consciously hear, but one which made the hairs on their necks stand tall. Like the whine of a mosquito near the ear, it would not relent. It drove them to violence and anger, unable to tell from where this sound came, only that it annoyed them to madness. She sung, now bellowing, now whispering. She would be able to tell much about these small ones by their reaction to her song. Anger was good. Anger was honest. She would see.

Moving to the Sholesian Oligarchy and using the Ce‚nsong [+4] combined with A Door in the Rain [+2] to hide in fog and annoy the poo poo out of the inhabitants for a day of public anger. Also using the Houndsday Sonata [+2] to find their leaders and how they arrived to this world, along with hopefully the same infodump everyone else got

STITCHIGO| Size: Small | Hunger: 2.5M | AP: 10GM + 0 Natural | Location: Onboard derelict Ship Oceanis. Southern Ice Fields -> Sargar -> Kingdom of Bornalia -> Kintefnalian Federation -> Saltoria
Current AP: 9 -> 8 -> 7 -> 6 -> 5 | Current Megacite: .25 M

As the lone scavenger ship bearing Stitchigo made its return trip to the ports of Sargar, the diminutive kaiju hidden on-board learned what it could from the humans of their Bio-terminus world: their culture, their language, samples of their genetic technology, and their history of traveling to this planet. None of the races of humanoids populating and exploiting the natural resources of this world seem to have originated here, and yet... here they were, their factions divided and warring with each other and drawing territorial lines in the dirt. Little did they realize whose turf this great continent truly belonged to, and whose territory it would surely become.

When Stitchigo's ship was pulling into the bay of Sargar, the amorphous nanoweave kaiju snuck out of the hold in its stuffed animal form in the dead of night and hurled itself out into the sea, where it was much warmer than the waters he had been discovered in. Using innumerable nano-woven fin networks, Stitchigo began to propel itself northward with surprising speed.

Stitchigo had reviewed the humans' maps, and had found a place suitable for itself to begin digging a massive, labyrinthine lair for itself. The small, shapeshifting kaiju had a special path it intended to take, to confound anything that might be pursuing its distinctive Megacite-infused scent.

While the kaiju moved, it instinctively sent out its sensitive feelers into the neighboring lands it passed, trying to learn as much as it could of the available resources.

Spending 0AP to accept the boat ride to Sargar.
Spending 1AP to move from Sargar north to the Kingdom of Bornalia.
Spending 1AP to move from the Kingdom of Bornalia west to the Kintefnalian Federation.
Spending 1AP to move from the Kintefnalian Federation southwest to Saltoria.
Spending 1AP to use Kaiju Quality Sensory Thread Network [+4] while moving to Saltoria, preferring to scout out Saltoria's natural Megacite locations in addition to the nation's strengths, government, and media. Any info that could be picked up while Stitchigo is Moving from Sargar to Saltoria would be appreciated too, but is not expected.

KLR-8 | Size Colossal | Hunger: 80M | AP: 10GM + 10 Natural | - Location: Nearby Magicite Rig #47, Aris Ocean-> Raj'jus
Current AP: 19-3= 16 Current Megacite: 3.5M

It was not enough. KLR-8 calculated swiftly as the Megacite rig burned and sank and it made its way towards the landmass barely detectable in the distance. It needed more, much more, if it was to continue to maintain functionality. Other constructs like the one it had destroyed would likely contain similarly amounts of Megacite +/- 20% and would quickly prove unsustainable. It needed MORE.

It made landfall with a loud thud of metal smashing into a rocky coastline, a tidal wave spawned by its massive bulk crashing over the land and sweeping away anything foolish enough to still be in its path. It settled on a grid search pattern hardwired into it, the most efficient way to cover large amounts of land to find something. And as it moved it destroyed anything in its path.

Spending 1 AP to move into Raj'jus
Spending 1 AP to search the country for a source of Megacite I can find and devour
Spending 1 AP to terrorize the country, KLR-8 is going to be making a direct path on straight lines in its grid search and destroying anything small enough that it doesn't need to route around (like a mountain).
