despite not being from England at all I can think of two mountain goats songs off the top of my head that are about the north of England going to kirby sigston: an example of early 'lo-fo' mountain goats. john darnielle and a guitar and probably his old boombox but you can't hear the motor that's right next to the lovely compressor mic so maybe this was in a studio. there's like 50 different "going to" songs and the only thing they have in common is that they're about going somewhere because you think going there is going to fix your problems, but it's not. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-WNXOZw9kEU andrew eldritch is moving back to leeds: off of Goths (2017), an example of modern 'hi-fi' mountain goats. no guitars, because there's no guitars on this album at all. a song about getting old and realizing that your days are behind you, and the quiet dignity in that. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KYGyC-kF06w
