Here's what's awesome about the decline of NXT:

Before they hit USA Network they would trust these two guys to put together a match with not much more instruction than "you have <x> minutes, <this dude> is winning, try to do some callback spots" and unless something got royally botched it'd be a MOTY candidate.

This will end up as an overbooked clusterfuck with, oh, let's say three different instances of interference, someone turning on their stable, and then another rear end in a top hat turning up after the decision to declare he's the REAL champion.

I went to a SmackDown in Tampa in Oct 2013, it was fine I guess.

Dark match was Sami Zayn vs some dude I had never heard of named Adrian Neville and I was really hyped to see Sami until Neville hit the Red Arrow and the people who were already there in their seats went WHOOOOOOA. There were also Main Event matches, one of which featured Los Locales which I think was Tyson Kidd and Ricardo Rodriguez under masks? Also Goldust was still there and Damien Sandow in his "enlightened genius" gimmick and the Wyatt Family when they were still creepy swamp people.

Sami Zayn has been stuck in this company for seven years now lol

I got to see several NXT "Largo Loop" house shows and they were always fun. I could never hear anyone's names over the blaring entrance music so it really did have a good indie feel lol.

The realistic absolute best-case scenario is that enough "big name stars" will raise a shitstorm about this one particular issue, Vince will back down, and nobody will learn any larger lessons or push for any more workplace reforms.

It's easy to get swept up in the fancy lights and billion-dollar TV deals and giant arenas and the Saudi blood money but pro-wrestling is still, at its heart, a carny business run by grifters, schemers, liars, scoundrels, ne'er-do-wells, con artists, whatever other term you want to use for jumped up petty criminals who happened to find the right grift at the right time.

The business is what it is, it will always be gross and disgusting and exploitive even when it's at its "best". There will always be a new crop of performers ready to endure countless indignities and violations and lick the boots.

I think we're finally to the point where outside talent has seen what happens to the vast majority who sign long-term WWE deals and they'll say "no thanks".

Eventually the COVID stuff is gonna end and there will be indie shows again, and the workers who have been hustling nationwide their entire careers anyway will probably see higher paydays thanks to pent-up demand will tell NXT Paul "I've seen what this company does to hot indie workers and I'd rather just keep doing my own thing"

That's when it's gonna get fun.

I think Dijakovic is definitely one of them, I have no idea on anyone else. It is fun to to see them try to code some members as female despite dressing in all-black hoodies and masks so they don't get angry letters for male-on-female violence though.

Him bringing up the fake razor and diesel example and then saying he's rooting for AEW show a level of understanding and interest that i didn't expect. I know it'll probably go nowhere but the interview is interesting.

Yang seems reasonably tuned in to the real world vs the typical rich tech dude. That's not a super high bar to clear, but he does it.

NXT is no longer interesting or cool since it became Just Another WWE TV Show. It's the same thing as Raw or SmackDown now, even the Takeovers are watered-down overbooked garbage. It's the biggest reason I dropped my Network subscription, but the first Raw Underground was the final straw.

All I watched was the clip posted here, it seems fine. They had a story they wanted to tell, they told it in very simple repetitive fashion to beat it into our skulls, it made some sort of sense. The test is whether they move on to the next thing for Roman or have the Usos eat beatings for another month.
