I listened to a podcast once with a former (I think recon) Marine who worked as a consultant for one of Segal's movies. He also worked as close protection for him and helped him learn how to shoot guns etc. One time he went to a jewelry shop with Segal and he was trying on gold chains. When he was taking one off the chain took a chunk of his hair off from his widows peak. So they had the owner of the store clear the staff out and lock the door while his driver went out to the car and returned with a messenger bag that contained some glue and some fibers and some spray on poo poo to rebuild his hair.

He also tried to brag to the dude about doing recon work when he was with the CIA in Vietnam in 1970 which would have made him 18 at the time.

Eh, some people get almost 0 symptoms beyond a bit of a cough for a day. Some people end up in the icu.

While the ufc are for sure cunts and Cody is for sure dumb as gently caress. There is a scenario where these guys are pretty much completely fine and just need their contagious period to end.

What is the minimum yall think the UFC would allow between date of 2nd confirmation test and a fight, 2 weeks?

Id assume once you test negative you're good to go?

Reasonable— wonder what the test frequency is after a confirmed positive. Not daily, right?

I wouldn't think so i think its mandatory 2 weeks and then a retest. If the ufc is paying for it they might check again a week later. I think thats why the people showing no symptoms are so hard to predict.

Poirier’s saying he and the UFC can’t come to terms on the Ferguson fight. As awesome as that fight would be, it’d be great if Tony took some more time to recover and (hopefully) get the next title shot. How long must I wait?

More than likely Ferguson is pushing to get back in the cage than the UFC pushing him back before he's ready.

The dudes certifiable.

I gotta admit, I for one would be 100% down for Joe Rogan saying "Is that true?! Jaime pull that up!" every 5 minutes and pitching Trump TRT, DMT and the iron neck while he pressed him about the existence of aliens. I assume within 20 minutes Biden would forget where he was and start sniffing stuff.

Which fighters have you most enjoyed watching "put it all together"

As a WEC/Fightville fan, Poirier going from being a roughneck brawler with an ok sub game to a guy with good boxing (including defensively) has been rad.

Same with seeing Gaethje in WSoF barreling out with 1000% pressure behind haymakers and lowkicks, to now a guy that has the patience to pick his shots.

Nunes probably had most of her skills, but again, patience plus developing her cardio is probably the biggest thing she's improved, but it's been fun to watch. Though she still really only finishes people super early in fights. Still, p rad to see the development!

TJ Dillashaw was a big one for me, I liked a lot of what I saw from him early on and was really down for him to beat Barao. So much so that I threw some actual money on him to get the win at (I think) like an 8 dollar underdog. I lost my poo poo in the first round when he dropped him and spent the next 20 minutes sweating a big come back from Barao that never came. That fight literally bought me a TV so I'll always be a fan of TJ - even if he is a filthy cheat.

I also ear marked Weidman really early on as a future contender and it was pretty special to see him put Anderson to sleep. It really sucked to see him go on a long skid after the Rockhold fight, but it happens.

Kevin Lee tripping over his dick constantly sucks big time because I always thought he was destined for greatness. 2 from 6 is not amazing and while he can definitely turn it around (he's only 28) I'm starting to wonder if he ever will. Kelvin Gastellum might have the same issue too if he can't get it together. He's had a bad run of luck with some hard match ups in his three losses but I wonder if he's going to be a little like BJ Penn where he has all the talent in the world but just breaks down mentally because he doesn't have that insane drive in the lead up to fights to get himself to where he needs to be on fight day.

i can't qwhite put my finger on why he'd say this

(and now I'm wanting Nate Diaz to face Covington next and go full 209 on him)

Probably because its true? The ufc is kind of short on marketable stars rn. A dude people hate and want to see get starched is just as good in the bank account as someone they cheer for.

Diaz won't fight unless jts Masvidal or McGregor. McGregor is too busy waving his cock at women in the Maldives or whatever.

Khabib won't or can't leave Russia.

They need something to draw eyes. Might as well use the rage.

if colby is actually doing a bit and playing The Heel Wrestler in the real rear end sport of MMA then he's still loving it up because the point of playing The Heel Wrestler is to make a big show about getting your comeuppance and sending the crowd home happy. when he lost to Usman he just ran away from the octagon as fast as possible and then shut up for a few months before coming back to the same exact schtick

It's because he's not a wrestler in fake fighting he got his rear end whooped in a 25 minute world title fight and was right there for 4 out of 5 rounds. It would have been exhausting in every possible way. Everyone in the know has referenced it as being a schtick. He was on the cusp of getting let go while on a 4 fight win streak. He talks poo poo about brazil after beating Maia and his next event - hes in the co main at ufc 225, after that he's headlining a fight night and earns a title shot. That's a crazy turn around.

You can hate it, and its fair enough to hate it but it's a little disingenuous to say it hasn't helped his career. Neil Magny just did the same thing to Lawler that Covington did and you don't hear poo poo about him getting a shot. He also said the funniest poo poo in history when he said that Robbie Lawler should have learned from his friend Matt Hughes and got off the tracks when a train is coming.

The first gym that can reliably produce guys who can counter calf kicks effectively is gonna run on some divisions

There already is a counter to it, the calf kick isn't really anything new - it's just finding guys who can reliably do it that's difficult. The reason why Gastellum was so good against Israel is because he penetrates and fights inside better than most fighters and has the footwork to stay out of range when he needs to. He also moves his head well on his entries (until he gets tired). Costa didn't really have a strategy at all yesterday and that's why he got smashed so badly. Had almost zero distance control just plodded into range and then tried to chase and had no plan B.

Israel isn't invincible it's just not a lot of guys have the attributes to do him harm where he's weak.

So was Izzy likely taking steroids or are people just memeing?

It's the simplest explanation. I can definitely see a scenario where a fighter decides to cycle during the covid break knowing testing is far more unlikely and then fucks up their PCT. If you want to buy Jones' gas station dick pills and Anderson Silva's thai liquid cialis along with the exotic medical conditions being thrown around the internets right now, thats fine but I don't think "pro athlete takes PEDs" is too crazy tbh.
