The second Neptune Towers album, for anyone who knows what that is, uses a extremely slowed down Autobahn sample part way through.

And Kraftwerk were using drum pads, they made, which were like commercial or common when?

I cannot understand how anyone could dislike Kraftwerk, but then as I find Led Zeppelin largely unlustenable I assume this is a genre thing.

If you are an elektronishmusikmenschen, their diodes will bring about a resonance cascade deep inside you. If you are not, I guess it just sounds like a 1980s computer booting up

Have I got a headache!
The thing is I like a lot of lovely 70s prog rock, I had the misfortune of growing up on like ELP and Rick Wakeman, I get dicking around with weird electronic sounds and trying to make them into music

The thing about kraftwerk is just that they do it with that classic teutonic joylessness and precision that my feeble western brain can't help but associate with the complete antithesis of artistic expression

I guess what I'm learning is that the joylessness is the artistic expression

I did once and I thought a whole set of drums had fallen down a flight of stairs. I panicked and unplugged the rig and went to a Starbucks and got a double latte to calm down. Some guy was on garage band and I asked him if he could kindly look at some porn or play solitaire. You could tell he was a hardcore dude and not sympathetic to my anxieties. Sort of a “wrong bar buddy” moment. :negative:

Look on my Posts, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away
Fun fact if you speed up playback to 1.25 it's the theme from Sprockets.

i never understand what exactly people mean by "get" when they ask stuff like this

either the music makes you feel something or it doesn't. obviously you can read up on their history and influence and all that, but whether you respond to it emotionally or enjoy it is not something likely to happen because of anyones explanation

also perspective matters a lot. if you grew up in a world where electronic music has already been mainstream for decades kraftwerk is not going to hit you quite the way it hit people in the 70's
