esperterra posted:Fair enough. Though when I grew up up North p close to the Alberta border, getting lamb was still easy enough. Granted that was getting a whole rear end lamb for our own freezer and not going to an establishment for a gyro or w/e. I haven't gone to any donair/shawarma/gyro places in Alberta so idk Ya you can get lamb kebab here but I don’t think there’s enough demand to do shawarma from it even though I’d love it if they did. I live down the street from a popular Italian deli and they had to stop calling their calzones a calzone presumably because nobody knew what the gently caress a calzone was here.

Jesus. I'm glad I've only been to BC and Ontario, then. I did find some lamb in a grocery store in a real small town in Ontario. It was good.

Alberta and the middle provinces always make me feel weird b/c there's next to loving nothing on the horizon in most of them. Like looking out in the distance and it's all just flat gives me the heebie jeebies. Granted I was raised in the Rockies so That said, living on the Alberta border owned because when we all turned 18 we'd just drive 20min to go pick up our liquor or hit a bar.

I lived pretty far north in saskatchewan so at least I wasn't ever far from the boreal forest starting. Southern saskatchewan though? Jesus christ no. (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

There’s plenty of cool places. Stampede is the only time the “everyone is a pretend cowboy” poo poo rears it’s ugly head and you can avoid it for the most part unless you date a transplant that it seems super amazing to like I did a couple years back. I don’t see the Florida comparison, I’ve got a friend down there and the crazy poo poo that comes out of there seems like another world.

As far as I'm concerned Canada is better just because y'all killed pennies and they bring those credit card machines to the table instead doing the whole drat "taking your card away and bring it back" thing. Edit: and Caesars.

My next door neighbours own the local Chinese restaurant and they give me a special discount when I order from there

My ex-girlfriend was Chinese and she told me that most Chinese restaurants will pretty much use the same basic sauce for almost everything on the menu. Just a few things thrown in to make it a different dish

I can go to a place 2 minutes from my condo in Calgary and get a lamb shawarma. Food in Edmonton is good, but you're only getting free delivery if you order at least $20 of food. My last order of Pho I paid $18.75 for the food, and $1.50 for green tea, so that I would get free delivery. And theN I still tipped hte driver like $3.50 so it works out to $24. Don't be so cheap, and you'll find you save money, and are also a better person to others.

Best Döner/Shawarma has a big hunk of mutton (yes) fat on top and possibly inside, that melts into the beef/lamb meat. Also, I ate a Chicken Döner in a local shop in Turkey, where they prepared the next skewer in the middle of the room, which was like a bizarro butcher shop and a wood grill. It was literally the best chicken I ever had in all cuisines and all levels of restaurant poshness. Later, I had home-made mutton innards like lung and head, which is certainly... something. Anyway, don't disrespect turning meat skewers. Goat sucks tho.
