Probably a little of both, but everyone I know of who has done this falls into "B". If someone throws a gender reveal party, they most likely spend 1-2 hours per day on Pinterest, have a semicolon tattoo but isn't sure what it means, has probably attempted to build something out of a pallet, goes to wine tastings because people who do it in movies are "fancy", etc.
