well they use a mobile emitter for the doctor so no reason you can’t bring your virtual concubines to the r&r sections of the ship if you were motivated and they didn’t have plot reasons for rationing photons

they did expand the holo-emitters to be on every deck of voyager

...in the premiere of lower decks season 4. lol

that show is really correcting a lot of the wrongs that have cropped up. it's not entirely surprising, the showrunner and writer of that episode, mike mcmahan, is a goon and still lurks at least tviv and possibly this very thread

voyager wasn't very good, but i can't call it bad any more after seeing what _really_ bad star trek is

if the lower decks guy actually reads something awful, i hope he knows how appreciative ms jones and i are of his work. watching lower decks is the television highlight of the week, and tbh i dont think it's even close

he does, a tviv goon knows him personally and therefore his username, but won't reveal it lol. i have no idea if he reads this thread specifically, but it's certainly a possibility since some of our posts have been linked in those trek threads. he was also the guy that did the "tng season 8" twitter account and i believe that got its start here anyway

e: and he's apparently not the only trek writer or producer that reads the forums. i know a lot of the vfx, editors and other production people do too but (and i hate to say this because, technically, they are my people) they don't really count, lol

It's cool because TNG Season 8 was actually very funny but that kind of ultra-concise comedy writing doesn't necessarily translate to being able to create full episodes of shows. So, good job.

Beeftweeter posted:

they were both pretty good. the premiere with all of the voyager references (and i didn't look at the credits, but i'm pretty sure ethan phillips, neelix, was the voyager museum curator) was really pretty decent too, even if you don't like voyager. they struck a good balance between making GBS threads on it and being respectful of it

the second was good too. some decent character growth in the cast getting promoted, and mariner dealing with ransom not letting her self-sabotage with some heartfelt moments. but it's hard to talk about without spoilers

it's a good show

yeah! even not knowing the references, ms. vector enjoys it and it's also made the better old shows more interesting for her as i rewatch them. it's the type of trek trek desperately needed when it needed it

yeah i thought both the A and B stories were really good this week. i like pretty much any trek episode with a malfunctioning gigantic computer lol, and they rightfully were pointing out the absurdity of it. plus i thought the setting was really cool in general

the B story with tendi, mariner and rutherford pretty obviously getting hazed was really pretty good too, had a satisfying ending and a good tie-in to the A story (with boim's first command). i definitely didn't expect the chula game to be incorporated into the story that way either, it was really good overall imo

it's really one of the best trek series in a long time. hard to say if it's better than SNW, but i think it might be just because there's been more of it and subsequently has more development

we did, too. we're doing a ds9 watch/rewatch, so the anomalies jokes landed extra well

also, boimler's third act scene led to a rewatch of s01e04 since ms. vector didn't watch the first few with me. s01 holds up better than i gave it credit for, at the time, and i think we;lol rewatch the whole first season to get in sync
