the score or the soundtrack?

i got the score from somebody's hotline in a collection of other, better music and thought it was fine for the time, but can't listen to it anymore

also this may fit better in the 'funny tech stuff' thread but the local Tower Records couldn't figure out how to order the score for the Matrix

I assume it was the album by Air - did the movie have any other soundtrack?

i'm sure it'll be leaked to the interwebs afterwards so there's always that, but A24 is a cool company

is this a global thing or is it US only?

I thought the concept sounded familiar but I didn’t recognize the plot - turns out there are (at least) two movies about camera teams following serial killers: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0437857/

Are there any archaic digital file formats that can't be decoded any more?

The oldest file format I can think of other than ASCII text is IGES, which is 45 years old and still heavily used in engineering.

Even if a file format did become totally archaic and unused, some nerd would build software to read it just because.

around 1997 movie piracy was beginning to take off and some people made movie rips in VIV format, which had the advantage of being 200 mbytes for a full movie (although in 160x120 resolution or something)

i have not found a player for those, though these movies already exist as 4K blu ray rips so it’s more of a curiosity

also I wanted to make a copy of some CCTV recording in a custom format that VLC didnt handle well, the codec didnt work in windows 10 and made every video editor and ffdshow puke, so eventually I said gently caress it, installed a win7 vm and played the movie back there while pointing my phone cam at the screen

It's a gradual process. Your dude wasn't crazy at the start, he became crazy through the course of the game.

huh

back in february I somehow stumbled upon the http://picturesforsadchildren.online/ site, and it had a paypal link where you could pay $5 - I took a gamble, and got a download link that contained a PDF with all the PFSC comics. it seems like now you can pay $15 for some undefined "art subscription" and I'm a bit tempted

edit: it's $15 a month apparently, which is a bit too much for me to keep recurring at least

double edit: removed a link that seems to just be for subscribers, possibly

do those giant inclinators you see in movies and games actually exist in the real world?
