NoneMoreNegative posted:I usually don't like Time Travel films but Predestination was fun just for the time-twists. If you haven't seen it I recommend it but you absolutely have to watch it unspoiled. I would even avoid the trailer. based on a robert heinlein short story which is really loving weird. I was shocked when I heard they were adapting it and even more shocked when it turned out great

Jonny 290 posted:my favorite dumb time travel thing is the set of questions posed by: this is not cheating and if time travel was invented tyere would be ads for it like those facetime ads where grandparents talked to their kids (friendly voiceover) Remember when we were young? (footage of young happy couple at a picnic) Remember the good days? Despite the bad? (footage from a hospice with the man dying, the young woman crying) Relive the old days (cut back to the picnic, old woman smiling while watching from behind a tree) And have a lil fun too (old woman approaches from behind tree. All three are overcome with joy of recognition. Then they have a three way.)

like you used people from the 1900s in your example for people who would have falsely claimed to be immune to future shock, but people from 1900 are pretty much just as close in time to the moon landing as we are.

I am reading a sci fi novel pretty kewl. has a prose style which is nice. I guess old established authors are still allowed to do that. apparently they are making a tv show

I like how the central technological conceit in this novel (timeline altering portal to the past) isnt from a lab experiment or government project but is instead discovered by a rich hobbyist on a random chinese server
