kinda want to play this over the holidays

quote:

Boy Problems - A Carly Rae Jepsen-themed heist tabletop RPG one-shot

It is many years into the future. A wealthy and powerful person (or persons) has claimed a rare and much sought after prize: the “vault” of 200 unreleased (this is real!) songs from renowned Canadian pop artist, Carly Rae Jepsen.

Hired by an anonymous sponsor, your team of highly trained individuals will raid a well-defended location to retrieve said item. From planning to set-up to execution, you will see this heist through to its completion, whether that be a success or failure. There will many twists and turns along the way, and don’t always trust the specialists by your side.

ngl Netflix produced documentaries have a "style" that I kinda hate. I watched The Social Dilemma a few months back and though I loved the message I hated just about everything else about it.
a documentary should feel like a scrapbook, and these netflix ones are too carefully produced.

like for example usually in a documentary the talking head segments would all have a different feel from the rest of the documentary and from each other because i guess they were just shot wherever suited the person talking. in the clip above they're all in the middle of the frame with a beautifully stage-managed background surrounding them, and so every scene looks the same as all the others.

big fan of both elliot page and robert sheehan so i'll probably persevere but it seems kinda cliched

there's an impending apocalypse. there's an apparently powerless superhero who was kept separate from her powered superhero siblings. i wonder if maybe just maybe those two things could be connected, what a big twist that would be

the shootout in the department store was fun as hell though i'll give them that

Not every show needs a twist, but the pacing of the season of Umbrella Academy is weird because it feels like it's supposed to be a mystery and there isn't really any mystery, or at least nothing that isn't really obvious from the first episode.
yeah it's this. although there's a bunch of smaller mysteries that i am actually kinda invested in i guess. i think all 7 of the academy are pretty interesting characters.

binged the rest of season 1 and it did steadily get better yeah. i guess the whole show is basically that scene where father ted tries to tap a dent out of a car, except the car is the entirety of humanity. that’s cool. also netflix went back and fixed the credits so elliot page is credited as such, which is cool too. also a normal looking older lady being treated like a desirable love interest and it wasn’t even presented as weird or unusual or anything.

it looked to me like someone had a good idea to make a miniseries about grief through the lens of a superhero thing, and then it got all MCUed. it was okay in places, katheryn hahn is the best and they should make a movie starring her but they obviously won’t
