i'll be excited when it's vespene gas but seriously, i expect to be disappointed (probably from a mass grave for casualties of the climate war) when we finally learn in 50 years that the phosphine on venus is just from volcanic plumes. venus has more volcanoes on its surface than the other planet in our system and it's likely still pretty active, and we know phosphine can be produced in volcanic events. wouldn't be surprised if more is being produced that way than we expect from models based on earth's volcanoes, but i'd love to gently caress an alien so i hope i'm wrong
