Spent yesterday night at an event with some friends here in berlin, we talked about trump and how unimaginably hosed America is at this time. I realized that not only was I not alone in staying informed about it, I'm also not the only one quietly going "what the fuuuuuuu" at any given moment. And now I wake up to this, incredibly. Also a comment to the mods: I think it's really cool how I and others get probed for posting about biden in any capacity while you guys pepper tweets and poo poo about him into the thread constantly. That's the mod integrity I'm used to from this forum and it's great to see it's being upheld. In all seriousness, I get that you hate him and that this thread isn't the place for talking about him, but at least stop doing it yourself then please.

hey I took a break from the thread back when things returned to GBS because it was going too fast, and that was probably a good thing because I really needed a break. I was still tangentially following the news between then and now because, hey, gently caress that rear end in a top hat in the White House, he's literally making everything worse every loving day. I was at work tonight when I heard about RBG's passing. There's nothing quite like hearing about how she died and how they're already planning to nominate a new Justice from a clueless Christian Republican woman. There's nothing quite like hearing a woman like this legitimately beam with joy when she tells you, in absolute sincerity, that she can't wait because maybe Ted Cruz could get a seat on the Supreme Court. I just kind of stood there, stupefied, trying to change the subject until I could check my phone five minutes later to confirm the veracity of these claims. Jesus loving Christ. I am defeated. Even if we get Trump out of office, the fact that people in the country like this exist and persist... it's ghastly. I look around in rural Minnesota and see tons of Trump flags in front of houses, occupied by MAGA hat wearing seniors. It's hard living in this country and hoping for change when each day brings more bad news. Realistically, this country has been derailed for atleast 20 years after a four year Presidency, assuming Trump is voted out. If he isn't, well... I don't even want to think about that now. I don't think it's really an option. As I told my girlfriend when I confirmed the news, I'll also say here: "these next two months are going to be absolute hell."
