Tucker's fundamentally a Strasserite socialist: he believes that hard working, fundamentally good (y'know, Aryan ubermenschen) people should get access to all kinds of government services that help them through tough times, but lazy freeloaders (swarthy untermenschen) should be punished, shamed, and locked out of government programs. The Strasser brothers were early nazis who only broke with Hitler because they didn't like the idea of absolute leaders within the master race. If anything they were on the extreme side of anti-Semitism and racism within the nazi party.

In other words, Tucker Carlson is an OG national socialist, and he's going to get more and more dangerous as people look for help in desperate times. There are a lot of racist idiots out there who desperately want to buy his combo of "people who look like you are good people and deserve help" and "people who don't look like you are scum, they shouldn't get anything, and you should feel superior to them."

Both, to some extent.

In 2017, she took a trip to Syria, sat down for a personal meeting with Assad, and came back with a "we shouldn't be involved" take that happened to include a lot of regime-friendly talking points about the good guy Assad who only wants to stop terrorist attacks in the country he loves.

Anybody who took an honest look at the Syria situation in 2017 and came away with the take that Assad was only fighting Al-Qaeda militants is either dishonest, willfully ignorant, or deeply stupid. "We shouldn't get involved in fighting in Syria" is a legitimate political stance, but it's one you have to make in light of the fact that Assad has committed a lot of terror attacks on civilians. "The situation is terrible, we should condemn what Assad is doing, but we can't send the Marines because that would make the situation even worse" is reasonable. "Actually, the rebels are all ISIS and Al-Qaeda, and Assad isn't worthy of condemnation" is not.

In the primary debates, she walked back some of what she said earlier, and called Assad a "brutal dictator" when she was called on it.

Chris Wallace and Trump are both on the same side, and Trump still treated him like a political enemy.

Wallace had also very obviously tried to come up with questions to help Trump. He was asking Biden about the dangers of "anteeeee-fa" and why he's supporting expensive environmental boondoggles like "give people modest tax breaks for greener buildings."

Trump was too stupid to accept any help and ended up fighting with the "neutral" guy who had come in trying to help him.

No - there are usually bans on electioneering (promoting or rooting for a candidate) within a couple hundred feet of polling places during an election. There have already been some Trump supporters who have gotten really angry they couldn't wear head-to-toe Trump gear when they went to vote.

Political parties will often mail you things like "official xyz Legislative District Democrats/Republicans Sample Ballot" with all their endorsements filled out, though. It's generally legal to take that kind of material into a voting booth for an in-person election, as long as you bring it yourself and don't try to hand it to other people. Fun fact: every state has their own election calendar, that has a deadline for certifying the final vote total.

Most of those deadlines are around a month after Election Day. Even states which are very strict about "must receive absentee ballots by Election Day, postmarks don't count" still have to validate provisional ballots, the absentee ballots that made it in just before the deadline, and so on - not to mention dealing with any recounts or other disputes. No state will have its final total on Nov 3, or on Nov 10 for that matter.

The only actual federal deadline is Dec 14, 2020, which is when the electoral college meets.

As pointed out below, the actual federal deadline is Dec 8, 2020, 6 days before the electoral college meets, as set by the US Code in relation to the constitutionally-established date for the EC.

They don't actually think that Fox News is going to decide the election.

The dumb ones who desperately want to live in a third-rate spy thriller see it as a last-minute plot twist: there was an enemy mole in Fox News the whole time, but the good guys caught him!

The slightly smarter ones, who know that the most likely way for Trump to hold on to power is to sow chaos in a closer-than-expected Biden victory, are trying to pre-seed a stolen election narrative. And, if Trump does get kicked out, then they're going to want to grift off "fighting the stolen election" for as long as they can. If the Trumpiest major news network calls it for Biden, they know that they'll have a harder time with those narratives, so they're trying to create some distrust of Fox News among the base.

But - in this case, the votes are already largely counted, Trump is sulking at his golf club, and his "militia" isn't an organized paramilitary, it's just a bunch of idiot hicks. He is going to keep whining for a long time, and he's going to be an annoying presence for an annoyingly long time. He's abandoned or actively hosed with all the people who could execute the kinds of doomsday "end of democracy" scenarios you're worried about. He is so bad at being a strongman that he's pissed off the Secret Service, his bodyguard corps - rule number one of strongman dictatorship is that you let all the people who carry guns in your presence in on whatever grift and luxury they want in exchange for absolute loyalty. Instead, he exposed them to COVID, forced them to work grueling overtime during his government shutdown, and they hate his guts.

Trump might have access to the tools he'd need to end American democracy, but if he could pull it off, he wouldn't be Trump. There might be a smarter, scarier fascist in the future. But Trump is just a whiny idiot who can't even manage to seize power when he already has it.

It's absolute bullshit and nothing more than a scam to run on his supporters, brought to you by the people who invented the 1000% match and "Donald Trump was looking over his supporter lists and asked where you were, personally."

The Rose Garden is a grass lawn that's less than 10,000 square feet. A closely packed party is 5 square feet per person - so, less than 2,000 people, even without accounting for stages or security or whatever else. Even if you assume that most of the government would be at the other inauguration and there's plenty of room for supporters, any kind of major event held there is in the "$10,000/head ultra-VIPs only" range, not fifty bucks for two.

How does matching signatures on a envelope prove fraud? Are they hoping to find my signature on my drivers license doesn't look exactly like the one on the envelope?

If it's part of the process from the beginning, the signature checking is done by relatively unbiased professional staff, and there's an opportunity for the voter to fix any issues, it's a decent way to stop "oh, the family ballots arrived, but Justin's off at college/Grandpa moved into a home. I'll just fill this out for him, the right way." That kind of small-scale voter fraud is rare but it happens, and if it's done right, signature verification is not much of an obstacle for the voter, but is a significant challenge for anybody else trying to vote their ballot.

Some states also use it as a voter suppression mechanism, by allowing politicized challenges and providing voters little or no notification and opportunity to fix issues.

Right now, though, it's just a way to throw doubt on the election. Arizona, like most states, guarantees a secret ballot. So, even if you go back and find signatures that were incorrectly matched, and even if you assume every single one of those was part of a great voter fraud conspiracy instead of being some perfectly normal, common issue like a person's signature changing over time, and you decided to pull every ballot with a signature mismatch - then you still wouldn't be able to go back and identify which votes are tied to those signatures. The whole system is set up to prevent connecting signatures to specific votes - the signature is on the outside of an envelope, and once you verify the signature, you pull the ballot out, put it in the "these are legit, count these" pile, and get rid of the envelope.

It's hard to tell whether Trump and Giuliani know this and are deliberately cooking up unfalsifiable "evidence," or if they're just screaming about things they doesn't understand.

I live about 30 minutes from where this lady is from and I can explain this. A real estate agent from Frisco doesn't pull enough money to commission a private jet without going splitsies with several other people and it would be their one giant splurge for the year.
Suburban DFW is basically a giant "keep up with the Joneses" everyone is a $50k dollar millionaire here. She isn't aware that she's pretending to have more money than the cutoff for a stimulus check because nobody in her immediate circle has said, "I didn't get a stimulus check because we make too much money." Her life is a lie.

Also she and her buddies didn't actually charter a private jet; she was riding in a Piaggio Avanti turboprop.

They cost around $2k/hr to fly, so it's still a pseudorich white middle age real estate agent's instagram flex that she was definitely going to try to justify as a business expense next year. But it's important for the world to know that she's not the private jet flying QAnon capitol invader, she's the wishes she was on a private jet but had to settle for the cheaper option QAnon capitol invader.

I wonder how many hedge fund managers sweating their asses off right now are rich financially versus rich culturally.
It's safe to assume that a lot of them came from money and therefore will bounce back just fine via family wealth and/or connections but any of those fuckers that don't have a safety net are boned.

To be perfectly clear: I want every last one of them to be miserable for the poo poo they are trying to pull.

The entire point of a hedge fund is to play with other people's money.

Also, a few midsize funds ate poo poo, but other massive funds that happened to hold GME made out like crazy. Don't fall for the "we did it we beat Wall Street" nonsense that's mostly coming from... lower-tier Wall Street guys on wsb who are angry they have to drive BMWs instead of Lambos

Jan 27 (Reuters) - BlackRock Inc, the world's largest asset manager, could have made gains of about $2.4 billion on its investment in GameStop Corp as retail investors pour money into the video-game retailer's shares.

The asset manager owned about 9.2 million shares, or a roughly 13% stake, in GameStop as of Dec. 31, 2020, a regulatory filing showed on Tuesday. (https://bit.ly/39nfDwv)

They probably didn't cash out the full 2.4 billion but they definitely made a lot of money here.
