Bad news. Nothing serious like a computer wipe, before anyone starts to worry. Not going to be able to run a show this week. Spent six hours shoveling snow today (I’m in east-central PA, got a foot or so here last night), didn’t get everything finished with it that I needed to, and have to finish the shoveling this weekend (since I have to work from home tomorrow all day). It even hurts to sit at the computer right now thanks to my lower back being in so much pain from shoveling, and I’m not about to put myself through further physical hell beyond what I have to do this weekend. So this week’s show will be posted on January 3, as I’m still planning on taking Christmas week off. I’ll at least put out another episode of the RRW Diaries in the interim to not totally abandon the thread, but no ETA or decided subject(s) on that as of yet. Apologies for any inconvenience; it’s just a time and physical well-being matter I’m dealing with. Recently, it seems that if it wasn’t for bad luck, as the saying goes....

This is the second in a series of intermittent between-show posts that will shed some more light on some of the “filler characters”/NPCs that make up the RRW roster. Thought processes on character creation, inspirations, and the like will be shown here, as well as possibly some in-universe story to further flesh them out. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= BEYOND RRW: A LOOK AT THE CHARACTERS OF ROWDY RINGSPORT WRESTLING Brandy here is part of a head-canon that I have to keep separated from most of the other RRW NPCs, along with Elyssa Anderson and another character that has yet to debut (and may never do so, depending). Read on for an explanation as to why. THE ORIGINS OF BRANDY MCDONALD I’ve never made it a secret that I’ve done “e-fedding” in the past, as recently as a few months ago though I largely quit the game in early 2019. Brandy was one of the primary supporting cast in my main character’s story from 2007-08, though her origins go before that…all the way back to 2000. In 2000 I got caught up in a SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth e-fed (and its successor, a Here Comes the Pain version) where matches were run in that game by volunteers, who would then write out the matches and post them to a forum. The players would come up with rudimentary ideas for angles to add in to give the thing more life than a video game fed—something I realize I desperately need to get better at for RRW, but I digress—and we’d go from there. “Brandy” was the valet of another character at the time, and there was an idea to have a romance angle with the valet trying to lure my character into a trap headed by her actual client. The place closed down before that really got started. The idea stuck around in my head, and when I got into a full-on RP e-fed in 2007, I took a variant of that idea and massaged it into Brandy McDonald, a valet who actually did fall for the person she was supposed to be trapping. Then she got approached by a branch of some mafia who were trying to profit off of betting on wrestling (don’t bet on wrestling, folks), and wanted to use her to demoralize the main character into losing matches so the mafia could make money, and she’d get a cut of it. He got wind of everything, broke off the relationship, and that would have been the last anyone would have seen of Brandy…until four months later. The MC’s fiancée, officer Elyssa Anderson of the local county sheriff’s office (name ring any bells?) was pregnant with twins. They were going to be married just after Thanksgiving 2007. Instead, said mafia, furious at their plans being thwarted and thinking the time was perfect for revenge now that things had cooled down some, “coerced” Brandy into leading a guy under the cover of night to the MC’s residence, where the mafioso rigged a car bomb to Elyssa’s Jeep. She died as soon as the car started and the bomb went off, with the MC watching helplessly from the house a hundred feet or so away. (In the e-fed I was in, this was an RP that was a title defense for my character so yeah, I kind of pulled out all of the stops.) The mafia would later beat Brandy to within an inch of her life, looking to clear up any loose threads, and her final act was to confess to the MC what she did. Brandy McDonald died alone and largely forgotten in a hospital bed in January 2008, and her original story ends there. BRINGING HER INTO WRESTLING SPIRIT 3/RRW When I was assisting with character creation for the TEW 2010 mod I mentioned in volume 1 of the RRW Diaries, I brought the name back and changed things slightly. This version of Brandy originally wanted to use wrestling as a steppingstone into acting in Hollywood, relying on her looks and what limited time she got to be on screen as a valet to try to sell executives on the idea. Over time, though, she slowly got to be more interested in the actual in-ring portion of the business, and started learning from the other people in the locker room that she felt she could trust. Flash forward a couple of years, and some success on the indies, and Brandy felt ready to stake her claim on a different part of the wrestling business than she was brought in to be. The original concept of RRW would have had Brandy as someone in the entertainer/all-arounder division with six “seasons” of experience when play started, putting her as a solid contender but nothing guaranteed. The fact that she went 14-2 in season one of RRW, when scaled back to parity with everyone else, came as a total shock, as I had banked on 9-7 and on the fringes of the playoffs. Then, just like another 14-2 team in the NFL last season, she had to choke it away after a first-round bye. The engine giveth, and the engine taketh away. The plan for McDonald’s “build” in RRW is to basically keep things even, with any bias going towards brawling and speed. She doesn’t really have the size to try to work a technical game against the likes of Ulafsson and such—and I already have another technical female wrestler in Indigo Rose anyway, who takes that rule and puts it on its ear—so making her a bit of a cruiserweight with charisma is the rough sketch I have for her. I will have to boost Athleticism a bit though to open up a few aerial maneuvers, which means her signature (a top rope somersault leg drop) may finally come into play one of these days if things develop. Otherwise, as she’s had some decent success so far in RRW, I don’t see any reason to mess with the plan too much. There will be no in-character narrative for Brandy (and later Elyssa, when I get to her entry) because of the “dual existence” they have. I’d rather not confuse one timeline with another; that’s how incredibly poor movies are made and then later bombed on Rotten Tomatoes when the inevitable plot holes come along. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= In other news, now that the Christmas break and preceding foot-plus of snow is over, my intent is to go in and start running the current week’s matches tomorrow night after work, and have everything ready for a Sunday post as is standard. I do not plan to miss any more weeks (weather and technology permitting) so hopefully Season Two will be completed by the end of February, and Season Three (if interest remains) would start in late March after a short break to pursue other interests for a time and prevent burnout. As a refresher, the Week Ten schedule has been reposted below. If you’ve made picks already, there is no need to repost them as I’ll go back through the last few posts of the thread before showtime anyway to make sure I have things accurate. Anyone else looking to jump in for predictions, it’s not too late to do so! Devil's Delight (0-9, OVR 399) vs. Angela Wassermann (3-6, OVR 409) This went about as expected. Spot of hope for Delight near the end as she hit Hellborne Rising twice, but Wassermann was too much for Delight. The cross arm breaker sent Delight to her tenth straight loss in rather short order. Angela Wassermann (4-6) def. Devil's Delight (0-10) via Submission (Cross Arm Breaker) in 14:28. Rating: ** Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR + 4.22, XP + 486.94, no notable damage Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.07, XP + 103.48, minor damage to head Indigo Rose (3-6, OVR 434) vs. Jimmy Anarchy (1-8, OVR 421) A rather dull bout, the only excitement came in the last two minutes when the ref got caught by a Jimmy Anarchy Purge. This gave Rose the opening she needed to wear down Anarchy enough that a pair of Blood From a Rose DDTs were enough to score the surprise victory as Anarchy kicked out a fraction too late. Otherwise, nothing of interest to write home about in this one; let’s move on. Indigo Rose (4-6) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-9) via Pinfall (Blood From a Rose) in 16:18. Rating: * Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR + 3.05, XP + 447.17, minor damage to head Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR -0.93, XP + 111.79, minor damage to head Sven Ulafsson (1-8, OVR 436) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (6-3, OVR 424) Mahal was barely in any danger throughout this match, using his technical skills to control Ulafsson and chaining the Maharaja Clip into the Full Metal Jacket in a good piece of technical chain wrestling that had Sven quickly tapping out. Essentially a long squash match, FMJ ensures that he will remain at least tied for the best record in the Blue Division heading into week 11. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (7-3) def. Sven Ulafsson (1-9) via Submission (Full Metal Jacket) in 15:02. Rating: * Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 3.00, XP + 446.61, no notable damage Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR -0.91, XP + 111.65, minor damage to head El Tornado (3-6, OVR 444) vs. Hans Nitschke (6-3, OVR 424) At first, this was very nearly a seven-minute squash. Nitschke absolutely dominated the opening of the match and had Tornado in Euthanasia Driver territory without ever receiving more than a handful of offensive moves in return. Breaking out of a setup DDY seemed to wake Tornado up, though, and the next seven minutes were controlled by him, moving Herr Doktor closer and closer into Tornado Splash range. Nitschke weathered the storm (pun not intended), though, and managed to hit a desperation Euthanasia Driver after moving out of the way of a running senton, and Nitschke escapes week ten with a win that by all rights, he should have locked up in less than half of the time. Hans Nitschke (7-3) def. El Tornado (3-7) via Pinfall (Euthanasia Driver) in 15:00. Rating: ** Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR + 4.25, XP + 414.12, minor damage to head Changes for El Tornado: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.80, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Brandy McDonald (7-2, OVR 479) vs. George Mastachas (4-5, OVR 417) WHITE DIVISION Mastachas showed a solid game plan coming into this match. He knew that McDonald’s cardio was in good shape, so he looked to squeeze the stamina out of her in the middle portion of the match with repeated applications of the body scissors. Combine that with numerous Olympus Rises shoulder blocks, and enduring the attempted McDonald comeback long enough to break out of a Brandy With a Twist and finally land a Wrath of Zeus on the fourth try, and you have the recipe for what has to be considered a minor upset. Mastachas stuns McDonald with a pinfall victory, and opens the door for Eugene Nagata to widen the gap in the White Division a few matches from now. George Mastachas (5-5) def. Brandy McDonald (7-3) via Pinfall (Wrath of Zeus) in 23:25. Rating: ** Changes for George Mastachas: OVR + 4.73, XP + 491.24, minor damage to head Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.81, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Mel O'Hallister (6-3, OVR 427) vs. Lance Heartilly (6-3, OVR 469) This was a Match of the Night contender, and was fairly competitive throughout. O’Hallister controlled the first five minutes, battering Heartilly with a variety of strikes. Heartilly broke free from an attempted belly to belly suplex, and proceeded to wear down O’Hallister over the next six minutes by sticking to his technical strengths. A minor tactical error in causing Mel to start bleeding via a stump piledriver—though O’Hallister has not been known to exhibit rage at being busted open—gave Mel the chance to mount a comeback. A few strikes later, Heartilly was in Irish Clover territory and nearly in further danger, but a blocked jab led to a single arm DDT, and Heartilly quickly applied the Hellacious Leglock. With O’Hallister’s one bad knee, most expected a quick tap, but Mel instead started to fight to turn the hold over to reverse the pressure, causing Heartilly to break it early. A second attempt led to another O’Hallister offensive spurt, as Mel tried every strike he could think of to wear down Heartilly enough for the Dream of the Emerald Isle. It wasn’t to be, though, as the RRW Champion rolled out of the way of a leaping elbow drop, proceeded to stomp O’Hallister in the lower abdomen—replays would show that it was drat close to a blatant groin shot—and lock in the Hellacious Leglock a second time. This time, O’Hallister had no defense for it and was forced to tap, bringing one of the only notable matches of the night to a close. Lance Heartilly (7-3) def. Mel O'Hallister (6-4) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 15:42. Rating: *** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 5.55, XP + 528.16, minor damage to head Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 0.77, XP + 132.04, minor damage to head Sterling Silver (2-7, OVR 430) vs. Reverend Johnny Gross (7-2, OVR 475) For about two or three minutes in the middle part of the match, it seemed like Silver could pull off the upset, having strung together a fair bit of offense and looking to pick up the speed of the match. A missed seated running dropkick led into a Kneel Before God, and that was all it took to kill her momentum. Gross methodically picked Silver apart after that, and the Come to Jesus was inevitable, as was the tap that followed soon after. Gross keeps a step ahead of Nitschke in the Black Division with the win. Reverend Johnny Gross (8-2) def. Sterling Silver (2-8) via Submission (Come to Jesus) in 17:46. Rating: ** Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR + 4.41, XP + 488.53, minor damage to head Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.13, minor damage to head Terrance Stevens (3-6, OVR 455) vs. Eugene Nagata (7-2, OVR 453) WHITE DIVISION The match started off slow and methodical on both sides, Nagata showing a rather unusual amount of caution in his attack plan. At least, he did until about the thirteen-minute point of the match. At that point, it was like a switch got flipped and Nagata went all out. A Nagata Special, Nagata Lock 5, and four more Nagata Specials came over the next five minutes, before finally Eugene showed mercy (such as it is) and delivered the Nagata Knockout to put Stevens away and open up a little bit of a gap in the White Division. Eugene Nagata (8-2) def. Terrance Stevens (3-7) via Pinfall (Nagata Knockout) in 18:37. Rating: * Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR + 3.14, XP + 380.96, no notable damage Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR -0.96, XP + 112.05, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Lord Robert Abernathy (4-5, OVR 467) vs. Diamond Steel (4-5, OVR 457) Just barely outside of squash territory, this was a short match controlled by Steel for the majority of it. Abernathy struggled to chain much offense together and in the end, his attempt at a short-arm knee lift got dodged by Steel, who carried her momentum to the ropes and delivered her trademark All Out Blitz to at least attempt to remain in the Purple Division hunt, while Abernathy’s loss opens the door even wider for Daniel Simmons to run away with the division should he win later on. Diamond Steel (5-5) def. Lord Robert Abernathy (4-6) via Pinfall (All Out Blitz) in 11:57. Rating: ** Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 4.08, XP + 485.74, no notable damage Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.43, moderate damage to head Glenn Knight (2-7, OVR 455) vs. Jack Braddock (5-4, OVR 469) This was an all-out slugfest. Think Rocky II or Rocky IV and you’ll get the idea of how dramatic this was (even if Maven Deltzer didn’t think so). This was the best that Knight has looked in weeks as he pushed Braddock to the limit, only for Jack to push back and deliver a pummeling to Glenn’s head. In the end, though, Braddock was able to avoid the haymakers of Knight, eventually get a spinning backfist to connect and follow up with a Jack Attack, giving him a much-needed victory to stay ahead of Diamond Steel and remain in the Purple Division hunt. Jack Braddock (6-4) def. Glenn Knight (2-8) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 17:15. Rating: ** Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 4.38, XP + 488.28, minor damage to head and body Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.07, major damage to head Yoshii Nakamatsu (6-3, OVR 473) vs. Elyssa Anderson (4-5, OVR 448) YELLOW DIVISION This was surprisingly one-sided…and not in the favor of Nakamatsu. Yoshii had trouble getting started and by the time he managed to hit a couple of moves, Anderson had already hit her Shotgun Dropkick and followed it with an Elysium Whirl for the quick three-count and a huge momentum shift in the Yellow Division, making things that much tighter as the homestretch of the regular season looms on the horizon. Elyssa Anderson (5-5) def. Yoshii Nakamatsu (6-4) via Pinfall (Elysium Whirl) in 9:03. Rating: ** Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 3.91, XP + 484.34, no notable damage Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.09, minor damage to head Otto von Schwarz (3-6, OVR 467) vs. Hailey Carmichael (6-3, OVR 463) This was rather close throughout, as Otto used his size and power to batter Carmichael, who would respond in kind with her technical game to wear the big man down. Hailey’s vastly superior cardio (at least in comparison to her opponent) also played a role here, as she was able to push herself for longer periods of time. While von Schwarz was the first to push his opponent to the point where a finisher could be attempted, he never got the chance to thanks to Leslie Burrell drawing the ref’s attention by running over to argue with Hans Meyer outside the ring. This let Carmichael go low on Otto, and instead of going for a cover, she managed to lock in #NoFilter on the giant. The ref turned around from the argument just in time to see von Schwarz tap out, and Hailey escapes this match with a win that could honestly have gone either way. Hailey Carmichael (7-3) def. Otto von Schwarz (3-7) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 21:34. Rating: ** Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 4.62, XP + 416.80, minor damage to head Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR -0.08, XP + 104.20, minor damage to head Jun Onoo (4-5, OVR 450) vs. Pulsar (6-3, OVR 480) Short but competitive, Onoo managed a few hard hits to Pulsar over the course of the first eight minutes that were enough to slow the luchador a step or two when he was on offense. But even given the size disparity, trading two shots for one wasn’t going to work out in Onoo’s favor in the end, and that’s exactly how this played out. A few strikes too many led to a Zodiac Implosion, and Pulsar netting the win in a relative sprint of a bout. Pulsar (7-3) def. Jun Onoo (4-6) via Pinfall (Zodiac Implosion) in 10:39. Rating: ** Changes for Pulsar: OVR + 4.00, XP + 485.11, no notable damage Changes for Jun Onoo: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.28, minor damage to head and body Daniel Simmons (6-3, OVR 475) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (6-3, OVR 451) For a second clash of division leaders tonight, this was the polar opposite to that match. It might have been competitive, but it was dull and lifeless, ending with a Blue Collar Driver. Simmons tightens his strangle hold on the Green Division with the win, while the loss actually drops Chavinski to second in the Purple Division as Braddock overtakes him on the average time of victory tiebreaker. Daniel Simmons (7-3) def. Vladimir Chavinski (6-4) via Pinfall (Blue Collar Driver) in 14:51. Rating: * Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR + 2.99, XP + 446.53, no notable damage Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.91, XP + 111.63, moderate damage to head Billy Norris (7-2, OVR 478) vs. Blood River (5-4, OVR 451) A nice, competitive match that was missing a gear to push it to Match of the Night contention, this had River take an early lead in the match, which Norris fought back over the following minutes to even it up and eventually be in the driver’s seat. A couple of Boomerang DDTs had River on the figurative ropes, but Norris was unable to connect with the Down Under Disaster on three different occasions. Each time River would get a little more offense in before Norris made another attempt to finish the match. On the fourth, though, River finally found himself in position to schoolboy Norris into a sudden pin attempt, and got a three for his efforts to score the minor upset and thwart Norris’s attempt to inherit the Orange Division lead. The Black Division looks to be a closely contested division as the final weeks of the season start to roll on. Blood River (6-4) def. Billy Norris (7-3) via Pinfall (missed Down Under Disaster) in 13:24. Rating: ** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 4.16, XP + 413.47, minor damage to head Changes for Billy Norris: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.61, minor damage to head Markus Clay (6-3, OVR 466) vs. Brian Blackfield (5-4, OVR 469) YELLOW DIVISION Tess Bradenbury: We’ve had some good matches here on our first show of 2021, but now it’s time for some main event action! Johnny Tyler: Which only differs from the other matches as it’s the last one of the night before I can do back to my cabin and drink myself into a stupor. Tess Bradenbury: …really, Johnny? Johnny Tyler: Look, you celebrate surviving 2020 how you want, I’m doing it how I want. Tess Bradenbury: Moving on. With Yoshii Nakamatsu losing earlier on, this match will determine who leads the Yellow Division going into next week. If Markus Clay wins, he’ll lead outright with a 7-3 record. If Brian Blackfield wins, he’ll win the combined head-to-head tiebreaker against both Markus and Yoshii and will enter next week as the division leader. Johnny Tyler: Which only really matters come week 16 and knowing if leading a division means a guaranteed playoff spot, or being in the mess that is the wild card hunt. It’s still way too early for that, Tess. Tess Bradenbury: Be that as it may, Johnny, I’m just laying out the facts here. Both men have made it to the ring and look ready to go. Ref calls for the bell, and we are underway with our main event of the evening! quote:(00:04) Clay broke a Standing Head Scissors Twist Tess Bradenbury: Clay trying to make an opening for himself to get on the offensive, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: Which he kind of needs, because otherwise Blackfield was just going to run away with this one. Tess Bradenbury: Clay thrives on a faster paced offense; he’ll need to shift gears here to get back in this after the opening minutes! quote:(05:18) Clay applied a Choke Hold Johnny Tyler: Why are you shouting, ref? Do you need a candy bar or something because you’re hungry? Tess Bradenbury: I’m pretty sure the ref is getting on Markus for the blatant abuse of the rules, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: Pfft. Not likely. Ref just needs a Sn— Tess Bradenbury: Are you trying to get us sued by mentioning a product that is not one of our sponsors?! Johnny Tyler: …okay. Maybe I’m the one who needs the candy bar. quote:(10:11) Clay hit a Leaping Elbow Drop Tess Bradenbury: Clay got lucky there; he’s already taken one Tartan Effect. A second might have done him in! Johnny Tyler: You’d need to have something in the head for that to affect first, Tess. Tess Bradenbury: So that means you’d be safe then, right? Johnny Tyler: Yes, I would—hey! quote:(14:46) Clay hit a Knee Plant Tess Bradenbury: Clay landed hard on the mat; he wanted everything right there! Johnny Tyler: Cover by Blackfield, he wants to steal it! Tess Bradenbury: Here’s the count…1…2…no! Two and a half only as Clay pops the left shoulder up! Blackfield very nearly took that one! Johnny Tyler: Now all it’ll take is one Scotland Destroyer. Finish this, Brian! quote:(15:42) Blackfield hit a Slap To Chest Tess Bradenbury: Ref slides in for the cover…and has to duck as Blackfield literally presses Clay off of him, over the official and gets to his feet! Johnny Tyler: Big mistake, Clay! I give Brian about three minutes to put this away! quote:(18:59) Blackfield applied a Cravate Johnny Tyler: Called it! It’s over! Tess Bradenbury: Ref comes in for the count…one…two…three! This one is over, and Brian Blackfield emerges victorious! Johnny Tyler: I’ll admit, that was a good match. Nice way to end the first show of the year. Tess Bradenbury: Johnny…being complimentary? Johnny Tyler: Don’t get used to it, Tess. I promised my niece I’d try to be nicer this year. Tess Bradenbury: Johnny, that’s rather admirable! Johnny Tyler: Stop it! You’re going to ruin my reputation, Tess! Tess Bradenbury: With that said, that brings week ten to a close. We’re back next week as the push to the playoffs continues. For Johnny Tyler, I’m Tess Bradenbury…good night, everyone! Brian Blackfield (6-4) def. Sterling Silver (2-8, OVR 429) vs. Jimmy Anarchy (1-9, OVR 420) The first of two matches that only aired on the RRW website as a preshow this week, this was a strange match in that Silver could have ended it five or minutes earlier than she did. She had Anarchy in trouble by the nine-minute mark, but seemed hesitant to go to the top rope for her finisher. Anarchy managed to fight back, but a whiffed finisher attempt from him finally got it into Silver’s head that she needed to finish the bout, and Silver Streak followed by her 450 splash finally did the deed to open the preshow. The loss officially eliminates Jimmy Anarchy from playoff contention, as if any official measure was needed. Sterling Silver (3-8) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-10) via Pinfall (On Wings of Silver) in 14:32. Rating: ** Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR + 4.22, XP + 486.98, minor damage to head Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.74, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Glenn Knight (2-8, OVR 455) vs. Devil's Delight (0-10, OVR 399) GREEN DIVISION Looking at the remaining schedule for Delight--Knight (2-8) twice, Chavinski (6-4), Nagata (8-2), Mastachas (5-5) in a Last One Standing match, and Abernathy (4-6)--either this week or week 14 (the rematch with Knight) seemed like her best opportunities to pick up a win. It wouldn’t be this week, though. Delight may have gotten a second chance in the match when the ref missed her foot on the ropes after Knight hit The Promise in under ten minutes—replays showed that this was thanks to her sister reaching in to put her foot on the rope out of sight of the ref—but the second one five minutes later was enough to thwart a comeback effort. For the moment, at least, Knight remains mathematically alive in the playoff race, though his chances are on life support. Glenn Knight (3-8) def. Devil's Delight (0-11) via Pinfall (The Promise) in 14:44. Rating: ** Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR + 4.23, XP + 487.07, minor damage to head Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.77, moderate damage to head Diamond Steel (5-5, OVR 461) vs. Angela Wassermann (4-6, OVR 413) PURPLE DIVISION Tess Bradenbury: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Week Eleven action here in Rowdy Ringsports Wrestling! I’m Tess Bradenbury, joined as usual by Johnny Tyler, and before you can ask, folks—don’t adjust your television sets. We’re not starting tonight with Sterling Silver and Jimmy Anarchy, as the schedule says. That match, and the Green Division clash between Glenn Knight and Devil’s Delight was shown on our website as a preshow, thanks in part to the European Rules bout we have coming up later tonight. Johnny Tyler: Eh, it’s more like no one really wanted to watch those matches anyway. Tess Bradenbury: What happened to you trying to be nicer for your niece? Johnny Tyler: I’m only going off of what the viewing numbers for the preshow said, Tess. I’m not flat out saying that people are actively avoiding watching four people with a combined five wins among them wrestle after all! Tess Bradenbury: …you actually have a point there. Moving on. You may notice in the lower corner of your screen the smaller picture there; that’s for the European Rules match, which normally runs about forty minutes long. After our opening match, we’ll be showing the Euro Rules bout simultaneously with the matches going on here in the main arena, but folks can head to the RRW website to watch that match on full screen if they so desire. Johnny Tyler: Right, so can we ditch the layout and focus on what’s in front of us at the moment? Tess Bradenbury: We’re opening tonight with a Purple Division bout, one of the more closely contested divisions in RRW at the moment. Angela Wassermann is currently sitting at the bottom of the division, and her opponent tonight, Diamond Steel, is ahead of her by just one match. A Wassermann win here would tighten the race up considerably as we go into the final weeks of the season. Johnny Tyler: Nonetheless, these two look ready to get started! Tess Bradenbury: The ref is in position, here’s the bell, and this one is underway! quote:(00:09) Wassermann avoided a Forearm Blow. Tess Bradenbury: Wassermann with the early advantage—one of the positives of going early to her signature Superman punch—but now Steel with a chance to capitalize! Johnny Tyler: She’s going to need to be quick about it, too, before Wassermann finds her opening and takes back control! quote:(04:08) Steel hit a Japanese Binta Tess Bradenbury: Diamond Steel slowing the pace down a little now, trying to give herself a few moments to recover. Johnny Tyler: This might work to her benefit in other ways, Tess. Tess Bradenbury: Right. Wassermann is a former MMA champion, she’s more used to European Rules style bouts where you get a break every five minutes. We’re approaching ten uninterrupted now and she’s probably feeling the drain. Johnny Tyler: And having to carry the bulk of Steel’s weight as well doesn’t help matters any! quote:(09:48) Steel hit a Forearm Blow Tess Bradenbury: Ref surprised for a moment, but slides in…one…two, and that’s it as Wassermann gets the shoulder up. Johnny Tyler: Not sure if that was sound planning by Angela there, not against someone Diamond’s size! Tess Bradenbury: Let’s see if Steel makes her pay for that mistake even more right here. quote:(15:15) Steel hit a Women's Face Plant Johnny Tyler: Could be time for the blitz! Tess Bradenbury: I don’t think so, Johnny. She doesn’t have that look on her face like she’s setting up for it. Besides, she just got countered out of it barely a minute ago. Even more likely she’s going for something else. Johnny Tyler: Hmmm. You might have something there. quote:(19:48) Steel hit a Discus Clothesline Tess Bradenbury: And just like that, Wassermann is in complete control of this match! Johnny Tyler: But can she finally get her cross arm breaker locked in? It hasn’t worked so far! Tess Bradenbury: If any time is appropriate, it’s going to be right now, Johnny! quote:(23:57) Steel broke a Stump Piledriver Johnny Tyler: Dead center! Steel’s nowhere close to the ropes, and Wassermann has that locked in tight and deep! Tess Bradenbury: Steel tries to stack Wassermann up, but Angela just wrenches back on the arm again, and Steel is forced to tap! This one is over, and what a way to open the show tonight! Johnny Tyler: Wassermann just made the Purple Division race more interesting, that’s for certain. Especially if Chavinski takes down Jack Braddock later on! Tess Bradenbury: Folks, we’ll resume the show in just a bit after we get some sponsors to pay some bills for us. There’s plenty more to come! Angela Wassermann (5-6) def. Diamond Steel (5-6) via Submission (Cross Arm Breaker) in 25:52. Rating: *** Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR + 6.30, XP + 608.45, major damage to head Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 0.87, XP + 208.36, major damage to head This was the Match of the Night (1 [1 this season] for Angela Wassermann, 1 [1 this season] for Diamond Steel) Mel O'Hallister (6-4, OVR 428) vs. El Tornado (3-7, OVR 444) FIRST BLOOD MATCH With the exception of about three minutes in the middle of the match, this was a dominant showing by O’Hallister. He controlled the bout for the most part, and finished things when he stunned Tornado with a Dream of the Emerald Isle, hauled the luchador to his feet, and headbutted him squarely on the nose to cause the blood to come from both nostrils, likely breaking Tornado’s nose in the process. The ending sequence may be the only notable thing to come from this match, though, as it was rather average otherwise. Mel O'Hallister (7-4) def. El Tornado (3-8) via First Blood (Headbutt) in 11:03. Rating: ** Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 4.26, XP + 485.30, no notable damage Changes for El Tornado: OVR + 0.88, XP + 121.33, minor damage to head and body Indigo Rose (4-6, OVR 437) vs. Blood River (6-4, OVR 455) The first eight minutes were very even in terms of offensive output. Both gave as good as they got. River’s pounding of Rose’s head was the difference maker, though, as he soon started to pull away in the bout, thwarting every attempt of the Blood From a Rose DDT and slowly wearing Rose down to where he was able to connect with Crimson Regret and score the victory. River remains within striking distance of the Black Division title and a wild card berth, while Rose’s divisional title chances have all but disappeared, and her wild card opportunities aren’t looking so fresh, either. Blood River (7-4) def. Indigo Rose (4-7) via Pinfall (Crimson Regret) in 16:58. Rating: ** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 4.36, XP + 414.92, no notable damage Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.04, moderate damage to head w/ Otto von Schwarz (3-7, OVR 467) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (7-3, OVR 427) EUROPEAN RULES MATCH Much like earlier in the season, this match was shown picture-in-picture during the previous matches, with the match on full screen on RRW’s website being streamed live as it happened. The first two rounds were dominated by von Schwarz, as he battered FMJ down early and looked to use his size to his advantage. However, the size became a distinct disadvantage after the third round, when Otto found himself gassed out and at the mercy of Mahal. FMJ would proceed to spend the next six rounds systematically dismantling the giant, and when the match went to the main show at the start of the seventh round, most viewers only got to see Mahal finish the job as he submitted von Schwarz near the end of the seventh and ninth rounds to come away with a dominant victory. After the match, it was reported that all of the work Mahal had done on the arms of von Schwarz left the giant with minor ligament damage to the left elbow. It wasn’t an injury that would keep Otto sidelined, but it would be something to keep an eye on for the remainder of the season. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-3) def. Otto von Schwarz (3-8), two falls to none, in 44:15. Rating: ** Fall 1: Mahal via submission (Full Metal Jacket) at 34:10 Fall 2: Mahal via submission (Full Metal Jacket) at 44:15 Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 5.91, XP + 501.24, minor damage to head and body Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR -0.10, XP + 106.51, moderate damage to head and arms, minor damage to body Sven Ulafsson (1-9, OVR 435) vs. Hailey Carmichael (7-3, OVR 467) This was basically a squash. Sven got a little offense in but by and large this was the Hailey Carmichael show. A lone attempt at #NoFilter was all that was needed to put Ulafsson away. Carmichael ends the playoff chances of Sven with the tap out victory, and has a chance to assume the Blue Division lead if Heartilly loses later on. Hailey Carmichael (8-3) def. Sven Ulafsson (1-10) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 15:00. Rating: * Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 3.00, XP + 379.61, no notable damage Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR -0.91, XP + 111.65, minor damage to head Brandy McDonald (7-3, OVR 478) vs. George Mastachas (5-5, OVR 422) WHITE DIVISION This was even more of a squash than the previous match. In fact, the in-game summary came up with a line I’ve never seen before when the result screen popped up: “Not really a competitive bout as such, it was mostly one way traffic from bell to bell.” McDonald just steamrolled this one en route to the victory, and keeps the pressure on Nagata for the White Division lead. Brandy McDonald (8-3) def. George Mastachas (5-6) via Pinfall (Brandy With a Twist) in 13:53. Rating: * Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR + 2.96, XP + 446.11, no notable damage Changes for George Mastachas: OVR -0.90, XP + 111.53, minor damage to head Billy Norris (7-3, OVR 478) vs. Hans Nitschke (7-3, OVR 429) This ended up being a Match of the Night contender. Fairly even through the first five or six minutes, though Nitschke started to pull away after that. Norris wouldn’t simply lie down, though, and fought back when he could to keep Herr Doktor from getting any lengthy stretches of offense. Norris managed to avoid a Euthanasia Driver, kept up the attack for another minute, and connected with a DDT that busted Nitschke open. This would prove to be the mistake that cost Norris the match, as Nitschke’s rage triggered off the sight of seeing his own blood. Norris managed to avoid a low blow a minute or so later, but otherwise it was all Doktor all the time after the rage started. Norris tried in desperation to slow down Nitschke with a side headlock, but Herr Doktor broke the hold and promptly delivered a Euthanasia Driver to put Norris away. The win puts added emphasis on tonight’s main event, with Pulsar now able to take over the Orange Division lead should he defeat Reverend Gross. Nitschke was still behind Gross via a head-to-head loss earlier in the season, but a rematch was still to come…. Hans Nitschke (8-3) def. Billy Norris (7-4) via Pinfall (Euthanasia Driver) in 14:08. Rating: *** Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR + 5.44, XP + 448.25, no notable damage Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 0.75, XP + 131.84, minor damage to head and body Terrance Stevens (3-7, OVR 454) vs. Eugene Nagata (8-2, OVR 456) WHITE DIVISION Nagata didn’t get any sustained offense in until nine minutes deep in the contest. By then, it was too late as he was just outside range of the Maple Leaf Meltdown. Stevens would come through with it a couple of minutes later to pick up his third win in four tries over Eugene. Due to the head-to-head tiebreaker, though, Nagata maintains the lead in the White Division. Terrance Stevens (4-7) def. Eugene Nagata (8-3) via Pinfall (Maple Leaf Meltdown) in 12:32. Rating: * Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR + 2.90, XP + 445.51, no notable damage Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR -0.88, XP + 94.67, minor damage to head Markus Clay (6-4, OVR 467) vs. Elyssa Anderson (5-5, OVR 452) YELLOW DIVISION FIRST BLOOD MATCH A fast-paced match that was in Match of the Night contention, this was back and forth for pretty much the entirety of the fourteen minutes this one ran. Anderson seemed to have an extra step tonight, leading some to flash back to the opening two weeks of season one when she looked like she would be one of the major players in RRW. Clay matched Anderson move for move, including a perfectly-timed roll to force an Andersault to miss, dealing more damage to Elyssa in one attempt than just about anything he had attempted to that point. In the end, both wrestlers tried to simply pound away at the foreheads of the opponent to draw blood, with no success. In an act of desperation, Anderson went low—which in this match was perfectly legal, mind you—and hit a stump piledriver that landed just the wrong way for Markus, opening a laceration near the top of his forehead. If this had gone another couple of minutes, it may have been just the fifth **** match in RRW history, but instead this was a welcome refresher after the last match. Elyssa Anderson (6-5) def. Markus Clay (6-5) via First Blood (Stump Piledriver) in 14:02. Rating: *** Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 5.68, XP + 527.30, minor damage to head Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 1.74, XP + 131.82, minor damage to head Jun Onoo (4-6, OVR 450) vs. Lance Heartilly (7-3, OVR 475) “A thoroughly one-sided bout whose lack of competitiveness robbed it of its drama.” That’s as accurate of a summary as anything I could write here. Heartilly was never in danger and the RRW Champion cruised to an easy victory following a Heartilly Arm breaker and a Hellacious Leglock. Lance Heartilly (8-3) def. Jun Onoo (4-7) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 13:28. Rating: * Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 2.94, XP + 445.93, no notable damage Changes for Jun Onoo: OVR -0.89, XP + 111.48, no notable damage Jack Braddock (6-4, OVR 473) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (6-4, OVR 450) PURPLE DIVISION The less said about this one, the better. Braddock never let off the gas the entire match, and some token offense in the early minutes aside, Chavinski was on the back foot—or down on the mat—the entire time. Braddock solidifies his lead in the Purple Division with the victory. Jack Braddock (7-4) def. Vladimir Chavinski (6-5) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 10:08. Rating: * Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 2.81, XP + 444.46, no notable damage Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.85, XP + 111.11, moderate damage to head Lord Robert Abernathy (4-6, OVR 467) vs. Daniel Simmons (7-3, OVR 478) GREEN DIVISION HARDCORE MATCH One of the few hardcore matches in RRW that spent any significant time outside the ring, this spilled onto the floor at about eleven minutes in, with Simmons trying to mount a comeback after Abernathy had decked him with a pair of low blows. Simmons would get a little momentum just to have it taken away by being sent face-first into the ring post, and then Abernathy tried for a Shatterfall on the outside, but had it thwarted by Simmons. Each man would deliver a piledriver through a table during the course of the brawl, but in the end Simmons would get the last laugh, making most people watching at home wince when he delivered a Blue Collar Driver onto a steel chair to put an emphatic end to the proceedings. A win next week essentially gives Simmons the Green Division due to how the current tiebreakers look; a win plus an Abernathy loss guarantees it (as it would be a five-match lead with four weeks remaining). Daniel Simmons (8-3) def. Lord Robert Abernathy (4-7) via Pinfall (Blue Collar Driver onto a chair) in 19:29. Rating: ** Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR + 4.5, XP + 489.35, minor damage to head Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.34, minor damage to head Yoshii Nakamatsu (6-4, OVR 473) vs. Brian Blackfield (6-4, OVR 475) YELLOW DIVISION With the Anderson win over Clay earlier, this match would determine the outright Yellow Division leader heading into Week 12. This turned out to be another Match of the Night contender that could have gone either way. Nakamatsu wrestled a defensive bout from the start, knowing that he’d have to hit a finisher, endure the adrenaline rush, and then hit a second to put Blackfield away. Blackfield was relentless, pressing the offense early and often, forcing Nakamatsu to wrestle a counter-style match which he seemed to have no issue with. A surprise DEVASTATION Knee gave Yoshii a critical opening and he took advantage, driving Blackfield to the danger zone after a second charging knee. Sensing the opportunity was right, Yoshii hit the Nakamatsu Driver, and immediately turtled up as Blackfield started his expected adrenaline rush. And that still was not enough for Yoshii to win, as Blackfield just battered Nakamatsu with strikes, a DDT, a Tartan Effect, and finally a Scotland Destroyer with the last bit of the rush to get the pinfall before collapsing wearily on the mat. Blackfield wins a short war of attrition to solidify the Yellow Division lead. Brian Blackfield (7-4) def. Yoshii Nakamatsu (6-5) via Pinfall (Scotland Destroyer) in 18:14. Rating: *** Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 5.74, XP + 529.48, moderate damage to head Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 0.80, XP + 132.37, moderate damage to head Pulsar (7-3, OVR 484) vs. Reverend Johnny Gross (8-2, OVR 479) A bit of a sprint to end the show, this was a quick paced match that Gross seemed surprisingly comfortable in given his usual slow and pompous style of playing to Reverend Johnny Gross (9-2) def. Devil's Delight (0-11, OVR 399) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (6-5, OVR 450) Somewhere, in the underbelly of Atlantic City, a nervous bookie watches RRW every week hoping this is not the week that he has to pay off an insane bet he never should have accepted. He offered 250:1 odds to some sap who bet $50,000 that Delight would win at least one match this season. In the earlier parts of the season, this seemed like a safe bet to take, as that fifty grand was used to pay out smaller bets in the interim. But with every week, as Delight seems to get closer to that elusive first win, the bookie starts to worry, wondering just where in the bluest of hells he would be able to come up with twelve and a half million dollars should Delight pull off the feat. It would not be on this night, though, as Chavinski steamrolled Delight in a squash match. For another week, at least, the bookie would be able to go about his business. Vladimir Chavinski (7-5) def. Devil's Delight (0-12) via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 13:15. Rating: * Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR + 2.93, XP + 445.83, no notable damage Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.89, XP + 94.74, minor damage to head Jimmy Anarchy (1-10, OVR 420) vs. Hans Nitschke (8-3, OVR 434) BLACK DIVISION This ended up being a painfully average match. Anarchy had the advantage for the first couple of minutes, but about five minutes in, Nitschke took over after avoiding a Purge and never looked back. The Euthanasia Driver followed about six minutes later, and Herr Doktor leaves week twelve with another win and within striking distance of Reverend Gross in the divisional hunt. Hans Nitschke (9-3) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-11) via Pinfall (Euthanasia Driver) in 11:26. Rating: ** Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR + 4.05, XP + 412.66, no notable damage Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.37, minor damage to head Sven Ulafsson (1-10, OVR 434) vs. Mel O'Hallister (7-4, OVR 432) RED DIVISION A rather competitive bout, this one went back and forth repeatedly over the span of fifteen minutes, with O’Hallister pushed into the danger zone early thanks to a Nordic Backbreaker. That was the wake up call he needed, though, and fought back quickly to bring the match back to even footing. After three failed attempts to land Dream of the Emerald isle, however, O’Hallister finally just decided “to hell with the rulebook” and punched Ulafsson right in the groin. The three count was rather academic after that, and O’Hallister can possibly clinch the Red Division next week. Mel O'Hallister (8-4) def. Sven Ulafsson (1-11) via Pinfall (Low Blow) in 15:18. Rating: ** Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 4.27, XP + 487.34, minor damage to head Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.84, moderate damage to head Glenn Knight (3-8, OVR 459) vs. Angela Wassermann (5-6, OVR 419) A rather average bout that had some decent competition, this was a good fourteen-minute filler match for broadcast. Wassermann gassed out early, trying to do too much on offense too fast, and Knight capitalized with The Promise to keep his rapidly diminishing hopes of a playoff berth alive for now. Glenn Knight (4-8) def. Angela Wassermann (5-7) via Pinfall (The Promise) in 14:23. Rating: ** Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR + 4.22, XP + 486.90, minor damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.73, minor damage to head George Mastachas (5-6, OVR 421) vs. Brian Blackfield (7-4, OVR 481) CAGE MATCH Most other weeks, this would have been the Match of the Night. This was hard hitting from the jump, and pundits had been wondering all week if Blackfield’s uncanny ability to get adrenaline rushes would even be a factor against a sit-out powerbomb that normally gets held for a pinfall attempt in other styles of matches. The brawl lasted for about twelve minutes before Mastachas got busted open after a Tartan Effect. When Blackfield didn’t go for the Scotland Destroyer or even attempt to leave the cage, it was Tess Bradenbury on commentary who made the observation that Mastachas just might be a little too big for Blackfield to hit the destroyer piledriver on. Johnny Tyler came back with the reply of “who needs to hit a finisher and escape the cage when you can force the ref to stop the match due to blood loss?” It was almost as if Blackfield heard that and took it personally. Over the next ten minutes, during his time on offense, Blackfield would focus on the head of Mastachas, delivering numerous implant DDTs and another Tartan Effect or two without even considering trying to leave the cage. Blackfield seemed to be a man possessed, unleashing his aggression on Mastachas until the referee outside the cage finally called for the bell to stop the match. Blackfield was awarded the victory by ref stoppage due to blood loss, in one of the hardest-hitting matches in RRW history…and yet another match later would beat it out for Match of the Night honors. Brian Blackfield (8-4) def. George Mastachas (5-7) via Blood Stoppage in 22:25. Rating: *** Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 6.59, XP + 531.66, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Changes for George Mastachas: OVR + 2.07, XP + 132.91, major damage to head Hailey Carmichael (8-3, OVR 470) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-3, OVR 433) BLUE DIVISION A competitive bout that honestly should have been in Match of the Night contention, this was essentially a highlight reel of the Blue Division: limited striking, lots of wear down holds and controlling tactics, and having to think a step or three ahead of your opponent. So basically the antithesis of the previous contest. Neither wrestler could establish a definitive advantage in the first dozen or so minutes, with holds sapping away momentum with no real impact moves to build it back up. Mahal was the first to attempt a big move, but Hailey sensed the Maharajah Clip coming and got to the ropes before FMJ could apply it fully. Similarly, Mahal managed to avert the VSCOverleaf on the one attempt that Carmichael attempted the move. Carmichael got so desperate at one point that, even with negative momentum, she attempted #NoFilter which was a losing proposition from the start. In the end, though, Carmichael managed to chain enough impacts together that she got Mahal into her finisher after a kneeling jaw breaker, and created a little separation between the two in the standings as Hailey sweeps the season series against FMJ with the submission victory. FMJ’s road to the playoffs just got a little tougher, especially as he currently loses all tiebreakers in the Blue Division… Hailey Carmichael (9-3) def. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-4) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 23:49. Rating: ** Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 4.75, XP + 417.72, minor damage to head Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.86, minor damage to head Otto von Schwarz (3-8, OVR 467) vs. Jun Onoo (4-7, OVR 449) RED DIVISION Tess Bradenbury: It’s been an exciting show so far, and social media is still buzzing about that cage match earlier, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: That has to be the match of the night so far, Tess. I’m not sure what could top it. Probably not this one, I’d wager. Tess Bradenbury: And why do you say that? Johnny Tyler: Because of who’s in it, Tess. I’d think it’d be hard to get a great match out of two guys who are going to be gasping heavily for air ten minutes in. Tess Bradenbury: (chuckling) It’s funny you’d say that, Johnny. Last season, RRW’s highest rated matches all had at least one member of the Red Division in it. Johnny Tyler: Wait, seriously? Tess Bradenbury: Yup. Jun Onoo in a European Rules match, Otto von Schwarz against Sven Ulafsson, Ulafsson in a separate match, and Otto against the departed Siberian Nightmare. Johnny Tyler: I’ll be damned. Tess Bradenbury: I’m anxious to see how this one goes, as Jun Onoo and Otto von Schwarz have made it to the ring and look ready to go. Johnny Tyler: All right, Tess. You have my curiosity. Let’s see if they can keep my attention. Tess Bradenbury: There is the bell, and we are underway with our seventh match of the evening! quote:(00:03) von Schwarz hit a Handshake Kick To Gut Johnny Tyler: How did the ring stay intact after that?! Tess Bradenbury: They probably reinforced it, Johnny. Either that, or RRW rings are some of the best in the business! Question now is, can Otto keep the offense going? Johnny Tyler: He’s going to need to finish this quickly before his stamina comes back to haunt him! quote:(04:34) von Schwarz hit a Legdrop To Groin Johnny Tyler: What was Onoo thinking there? Tess Bradenbury: Onoo’s not a small guy, Johnny. He’s one of the few that could match power with Otto von Schwarz. It just didn’t work for him there. Johnny Tyler: I shudder to think how the ring would have reacted to Otto being dropped with a spinebuster like that…. quote:(08:11) von Schwarz hit a Strong Open Handed Chop Tess Bradenbury: Otto being rather liberal with the rules here, and the referee is determined to get his two cents in about it. Johnny Tyler: What was the line in that one Godzilla movie? “Let them fight?” That’s what the ref needs to do here. Let these two guys just fight! Tess Bradenbury: As hard as they’re breathing, Johnny—like you mentioned earlier—they are still not letting up against each other. This is going to be a fight clear through to the final bell, at this rate! quote:(13:20) Onoo fought back against being picked up Tess Bradenbury: We’ve seen spinebusters, we’ve seen powerbombs, and nothing seems to be keeping either man down! Johnny Tyler: What is it going to take, the First Infantry Division? Tess Bradenbury: That seems a little overboard, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: Maybe, but not by much! quote:(17:56) Onoo picked up von Schwarz Johnny Tyler: Otto’s found his fourteenth wind! Tess Bradenbury: So far, he’s been the only one who’s attempted a finisher, Johnny. The advantage may be in his favor. Johnny Tyler: Yeah…Onoo may match von Schwarz’s size, but maybe he just can’t get the man into position for his running powerslam? Tess Bradenbury: You may be right, Johnny. Let’s see what happens here! quote:(22:23) von Schwarz picked up Onoo Tess Bradenbury: Onoo looks a little dazed here; Otto winds up…and Gute Nacht conn….ects?! Johnny Tyler: Tess. Tell me you’re seeing what I’m seeing. Tess Bradenbury: Folks, Jun Onoo just took the full force of Gute Nacht…and is snarling at Otto to do it again! It’s like he didn’t even feel it! Johnny Tyler: I know Onoo has a hard head, Tess, but in all of my years of being in wrestling I have never seen anything like this! Tess Bradenbury: So now what does von Schwarz do? He looks as confused as we are! Johnny Tyler: Same thing Brian Blackfield did earlier. Make the guy bleed! quote:(27:12) von Schwarz hit a Strong Open Handed Chop Johnny Tyler: Onoo almost looks out on his feet, he’s so tired…wait, cover! Tess Bradenbury: Onoo just falls on top of von Schwarz as the ref comes in…one…two…three! This one is over, and Jun Onoo has just won a figurative war! Johnny Tyler: We should just stop the show right here, Tess. I doubt anything else is going to top this tonight. Tess Bradenbury: Perhaps, Johnny, but I kind of feel sorry for everyone else who has to follow this match. Onoo keeps himself alive in the Red Division for now, and I wonder how much this is going to affect von Schwarz mentally going into the later weeks. Johnny Tyler: von Schwarz was also dealing with that minor arm issue from last week, Tess, that may have played a factor into it as well. Tess Bradenbury: True. But folks, we’ll be back once the ring crew replaces the mat as week twelve of RRW rolls on! Jun Onoo (5-7) def. Otto von Schwarz (3-9) via Pinfall (Implant DDT) in 29:39. Rating: **** Changes for Jun Onoo: OVR + 8.07, XP + 651.60, moderate damage to head and body Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR + 1.91, XP + 186.28, major damage to head, minor damage to body This was the Match of the Night (3 [1 this season] for Jun Onoo, 7 [4 this season] for Otto von Schwarz) and just the fifth **** regular season match in RRW history. Pulsar (7-4, OVR 483) vs. Sterling Silver (3-8, OVR 434) ORANGE DIVISION TABLES MATCH So…how do you follow one of the greatest regular-season matches in RRW history? With the second-shortest one, that’s how. This was a sprint from the opening bell, with neither person avoiding much offense while trying to wear down the other. Pulsar, who all told is in better physical condition at this stage in his career than Silver is, focused his attack on Silver’s weak point—her head—and ended the match with a DDT through a table half set up in the middle of the ring. This one was over so fast that even the commentators were stunned, as Pulsar picks up the victory and for the moment, retains his wild-card spot in the Wrestlehut Conference standings. This is, by over a minute, the fastest “gimmick” match in RRW history, and is only 18 seconds removed from the fastest RRW match of any type. Pulsar (8-4) def. Sterling Silver (3-9) via Table Break (DDT) in 6:36. Rating: ** Changes for Pulsar: OVR + 3.77, XP + 483.17, no notable damage Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR -0.07, XP + 120.79, minor damage to head Lance Heartilly (8-3, OVR 478) vs. Indigo Rose (4-7, OVR 437) BLUE DIVISION To start the second half of the card, Lance came in needing a win to maintain the Blue Division lead via tiebreaker, and would simultaneously eliminate Rose from the divisional race and all but do it in the wild card hunt. In the early going, it seemed like Rose was off her game, and Heartilly would simply steamroll his way to a win. Around ten minutes in, though, Rose started to fight back, and actually put a scare in Heartilly by almost hitting Blood From a Rose. That was the wakeup call Lance needed, though, and after six attempts to apply the Hellacious Leglock, the seventh finally worked for the submission victory and to keep his lead over Hailey Carmichael in the Blue Division. Lance Heartilly (9-3) def. Indigo Rose (4-8) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 18:52. Rating: ** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 4.47, XP + 489.06, no notable damage Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.26, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (8-3, OVR 455) vs. Markus Clay (6-5, OVR 469) This was a competitive bout, even if it seemed like it was lacking some compared to the rest of the card. Clay controlled most of the first ten minutes, wearing Nagata down that a low blow netted a two count and pushed Eugene into danger for a Johannesburg Express attempt. A missed spear by Clay gave Nagata a chance to fight back, and fight back he did, rattling off a barrage of right and left hooks (which seem to have become a go-to of his offensive repertoire) before firing off a trio of Nagata Specials. The first one only got a one, the second a short two, and the third stunned Clay enough to get three. Nagata notches yet another poorly-reviewed match and remains in last place in average match rating, 0.083 points behind Sven Ulafsson, but with a vastly superior record. Eugene Nagata (9-3) def. Markus Clay (6-6) via Pinfall (Nagata Special) in 17:05. Rating: * Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR + 3.08, XP + 380.39, minor damage to head Changes for Markus Clay: OVR -0.94, XP + 111.88, minor damage to head Terrance Stevens (4-7, OVR 457) vs. Yoshii Nakamatsu (6-5, OVR 474) Just outside the realm of a squash, Yoshii controlled the majority of the match and never really looked in danger throughout. A DEVASTATION Knee busted Stevens open and gave Terrance a chance to get some offense in, but a missed splash sealed the deal and opened Stevens up for an Emperor’s Fall and the inevitable three-count. Yoshii Nakamatsu (7-5) def. Terrance Stevens (4-8) via Pinfall (Emperor’s Fall) in 13:51. Rating: ** Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 4.18, XP + 486.65, no notable damage Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.66, major damage to head Billy Norris (7-4, OVR 479) vs. El Tornado (3-8, OVR 445) ORANGE DIVISION Oof. This one wasn’t even close. Norris barely took any offense from Tornado en route to a total flattening of the luchador, and keeps pace with Pulsar atop the division. The 7:42 becomes the third- shortest match in RRW history, and the second-fastest standard match. (Blood River over Terrance Stevens in season 1 week 9 remains the fastest overall, at 6:18.) Billy Norris (8-4) def. El Tornado (3-9) via Pinfall (Down Under Disaster) in 7:42. Rating: * Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 2.71, XP + 443.39, no notable damage Changes for El Tornado: OVR -0.82, XP + 110.85, minor damage to head Brandy McDonald (8-3, OVR 481) vs. Elyssa Anderson (6-5, OVR 457) In all honesty, this should have ended about seven or minutes before it did. While the opening minutes were close, once Anderson started getting some momentum and picking up the pace of the match she was in control the rest of the way. She seemed hesitant about going for either of her finishers, electing instead to pummel McDonald for an extended period before finally, some might say mercifully, putting Brandy away with a Point of Attack. Some might call this a minor upset given Anderson’s season one showing, but regardless Elyssa has shown in season two that she has every intention of competing seriously for the RRW Championship as she remains within reach of the Yellow Division crown. Elyssa Anderson (7-5) def. Brandy McDonald (8-4) via Pinfall (Point of Attack) in 20:06. Rating: ** Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 4.54, XP + 489.65, minor damage to head Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.41, major damage to head, minor damage to body Lord Robert Abernathy (4-7, OVR 467) vs. Jack Braddock (7-4, OVR 476) While it’s rather rare to win a match in the first four minutes, one can certainly lose the match in the first four minutes. That’s what happened here, as it took Braddock that long to mount any offense at all. It didn’t help the match rating any that the majority of the middle of the match was spent fighting in one of the corners of the ring (seriously, they spent like five or six minutes trading strikes in the turnbuckles or sending the opponent right back to them!). Braddock was busted open with a DDT, and try as he might to mount a comeback, Abernathy ended it rather abruptly with his submission finisher. Braddock remains the Purple Division leader via tie-breaker, while Abernathy remains mathematically alive in the Green Division and needs a miracle run to dethrone Simmons by the end of the season. Lord Robert Abernathy (5-7) def. Jack Braddock (7-5) via Submission (God Save the Queen) in 16:55. Rating: ** Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR + 4.36, XP + 488.12, minor damage to head Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.03, minor damage to head Daniel Simmons (8-3, OVR 482) vs. Diamond Steel (5-6, OVR 462) Speaking of Simmons, he can put himself into “win and clinch” mode next week with a victory here. This would turn into a Match of the Night contender (in just about any other week), as these two went at it hard from the opening bell and never let up. This was largely a knock-down brawl broken up with brief respites for rest holds and the occasional blindside high knee to send the opponent out of the ring. Simmons had the early advantage but couldn’t connect with a Blue Collar Diver, giving Steel the chance to get back into the match. She responded with a flurry of offense, capping off with an All Out Blitz that Simmons sidestepped, delivering a punch to Steel’s face as she dove forward. Diamond would not get a second chance at it, as a couple of minutes later Simmons had his ankle lock applied, and left Steel no choice but to tap out. The win all but clinches the Green Division title for Simmons—at this point the only way he loses it is to lose his next four matches with Abernathy winning his next four AND Abernathy to knock six minutes off his average time of victory in the process. Daniel Simmons (9-3) def. Diamond Steel (5-7) via Submission (Quitting Time) in 17:00. Rating: *** Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR + 5.65, XP + 528.84, minor damage to head Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 0.78, XP + 132.21, minor damage to head Reverend Johnny Gross (9-2, OVR 483) vs. Blood River (7-4, OVR 460) BLACK DIVISION This was more competitive than many thought it would be. River, who seems to have found a groove after adopting the top rope leg drop as a second finisher, took the fight to Gross here and had the Reverend in trouble early. River would withstand most of Gross’s offense and keep pressing forward, not letting up even when Gross managed a succession of trapping headbutts and a grounded headbutt that seemed low on replays. River would respond by standing on Gross’s back, choking him out on the middle rope, and firing off a flurry of stomps before ascending the turnbuckles. River slipped a little when trying to step up to the top rope, though, which let Gross have enough time to get back on his feet and thwart whatever River had in mind. The (supposed) cultist would simply hit a DDT, and this time leap up top in a fluid movement…only to miss Crimson Regret as Gross moved out of the way. The opening would be all Gross needed, hitting a DDT and a low blow in quick succession and promptly ignoring the ref’s admonishments as he covered River for the pin and, some may say, stole this win in the main event of the show. Reverend Johnny Gross (10-2) def. Blood River (7-5) via Pinfall (Low Blow) in 12:04. So, a brief update as we head into the weekend and my usual RRW work time. I have been told/warned, since today is my birthday, that what few friends I have are planning stuff to do virtually with me this weekend in celebration. There’s a fair chance I won’t have everything done this weekend like I normally would to post a show on Sunday. I still have every intention of trying to stick to the schedule as normal but be advised that this week’s show may be delayed due to outside factors.

Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-4, OVR 433) vs. George Mastachas (5-7, OVR 423) On RRW’s official fan forums, at least one user expressed the opinion that FMJ would go 10-0 outside the Blue Division, but 0-6 in divisional matches. Mastachas apparently had been looking at the forums, and took that personally as he ran away with this one in a hurry. While it wasn’t a squash match—Mastachas was definitely feeling it afterwards as Mahal worked his traditional hold-based offense—it was still decisive as Mahal never even got a chance to apply the Maharaja Clip, much less his finisher. Mastachas, on the other hand, needed just one attempt at his finisher before picking up the win to open the preshow on this last Sunday in January. George Mastachas (6-7) def. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-5) via Pinfall (Wrath of Zeus) in 13:20. Rating: * Changes for George Mastachas: OVR + 2.93, XP + 445.87, no notable damage Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR -0.89, XP + 111.47, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (9-3, OVR 458) vs. Devil's Delight (0-12, OVR 398) Nagata seemed to want to prove a point this week—namely, that he didn’t need the Nagata Knockout to beat this chump Delight. Instead, he focused heavily on the Nagata Special—and by that, he hit six of them before getting a three count…only to have the ref reverse the decision as Delight had managed to get a foot on the ropes. The suplexes continued after the restart…nine…twelve…fourteen…sixteen Nagata Specials in all. Nagata certainly looked like a beast in the ring as he threw Delight from corner to corner at will. In the end, Delight just ran out of willpower, as a simple schoolboy roll up was enough to keep her down after an amount of punishment that would have made most people quit before that point. In the eyes of the critics, though, this was a squash drawn out far too long and just barely made the one-star mark. Eugene Nagata (10-3) def. Devil's Delight (0-13) via Pinfall (Schoolboy Roll Up) in 23:32. Rating: * Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR + 3.34, XP + 382.80, no notable damage Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -1.02, XP + 95.70, major damage to head and body Indigo Rose (4-8, OVR 436) vs. Hans Nitschke (9-3, OVR 438) The last of the matches on the preshow this week, this was by far the most competitive of the three. Nitschke took an early advantage, but let it slip away about ten minutes deep as Rose started to stage a comeback. She tried on several occasions to hit Blood From a Rose, but was thwarted on every attempt. Her lone attempt at the Vite d’Indaco was also summarily nullified, and Nitschke took back over with a little bit of desperation evident in his actions. It took him three tries, but finally he managed to hit the Euthanasia Driver and fall into the cover, garnering the three count and a hard-fought victory over the last person in the Blue Division that anyone would have expected to put up that kind of fight this late in the season. Hans Nitschke (10-3) def. Indigo Rose (4-9) via Pinfall (Euthanasia Driver) in 20:23. Rating: ** Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR + 4.56, XP + 416.32, no notable damage Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.45, minor damage to head and body Blood River (7-5, OVR 460) vs. Jimmy Anarchy (1-11, OVR 420) BLACK DIVISION The main show opened with a divisional bout between the bottom two men in the Black Division. Judging from their records coming in, it was rather easy to guess how this would end up, and that assumption would prove accurate. Anarchy got some offense in, but was quickly overwhelmed by River. The alleged cultist only needed one leap from the top turnbuckle to put his opponent away, keeping himself within reach of a wildcard berth with his eighth victory of the season. Blood River (8-5) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-12) via Pinfall (Crimson Regret) in 11:14. Rating: ** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 4.04, XP + 412.58, no notable damage Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.35, minor damage to head Yoshii Nakamatsu (7-5, OVR 478) vs. Angela Wassermann (5-7, OVR 419) While the next match featured two people sitting in third in their respective divisions, neither one was completely out of the playoff picture at the moment. Granted, Nakamatsu had an easier chance with being only one win behind in his division, but Wassermann could stay relevant with a win here. This was a decent back-and-forth bout, with Wassermann getting the early advantage with her striking game. However, her main weakness—her stamina—came back to haunt her once more, as she gassed out about eight minutes in and opened the door for Nakamatsu to make a comeback. She’d have a couple more spurts of offense, but Yoshii would eventually settle into the driver’s seat and cruise on the way to the victory, utilizing a finisher he had not used in a while due to the usual size disparity he faces in bouts to secure the pin. Yoshii Nakamatsu (8-5) def. Angela Wassermann (5-8) via Pinfall (Nakamatsu Driver) in 15:39. Rating: ** Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 4.29, XP + 487.51, minor damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.88, minor damage to head El Tornado (3-9, OVR 444) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (7-5, OVR 453) Chavinski came in to the match behind Braddock via tiebreakers in the Purple Division, and needed a win to keep the pressure on Jack later on in the show. Tornado was mathematically eliminated from the playoff races and could only play the role of spoiler. Which, conveniently enough, he did here. Chavinski gassed out early despite a sizeable health advantage, being on offense for most of the opening six minutes, but Tornado was able to claw his way back into the contest, eventually get the momentum fully on his side, and keep Chavinski down long enough for a Tornado Splash to connect. The spoiler plays his role to perfection, and Chavinski now needs Braddock to lose later on to keep from being behind even further at the end of the week. El Tornado (4-9) def. Vladimir Chavinski (7-6) via Pinfall (Tornado Splash) in 17:41. Rating: ** Changes for El Tornado: OVR + 4.4, XP + 488.49, minor damage to head Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.12, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Otto von Schwarz (3-9, OVR 469) vs. Sterling Silver (3-9, OVR 434) An otherwise pointless match between two competitors near the bottom of their respective conferences, this was pushed onto the main show solely by the high popularity of von Schwartz. These two then proceeded to spend the next twenty minutes in a rather dull bout that in all honesty could have been finished in half the time if Silver would have gone for her finisher before Hans Meyer interfered to throw her off the top rope. It only took another seven for Silver to finally wear down a bleeding von Schwarz enough to attempt her finisher again, and connect this time, to end a long, perfectly dull contest. Sterling Silver (4-9) def. Otto von Schwarz (3-10) via Pinfall (On Wings of Silver) in 26:50. Rating: ** Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR + 4.92, XP + 492.88, minor damage to head and body Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR -0.09, XP + 104.74, major damage to head, moderate damage to body Mel O'Hallister (8-4, OVR 436) vs. Elyssa Anderson (7-5, OVR 462) This bout, which on paper looked to be rather promising, ended up a routinely average bout. O’Hallister controlled the beginning and ends of the match, with Anderson getting an Andersault in right before Mel started to regain the offensive. Anderson was able to avoid the Dream of the Emerald Isle on two separate occasions, and managed to kick out of a third that actually landed, but she never got to attempt a finisher of her own. The third application of the Irish Clover submission was enough for a thoroughly battered Anderson to tap out in an attempt to salvage the last three weeks of the season and make catching Brian Blackfield for the division lead a physical impossibility. O’Hallister had done his part; if Onoo lost in the next bout, Mel would clinch the Red Division title with three weeks to spare. Mel O'Hallister (9-4) def. Elyssa Anderson (7-6) via Submission (Irish Clover) in 21:48. Rating: ** Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 4.64, XP + 490.46, no notable damage Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.62, major damage to head, moderate damage to body Jun Onoo (5-7, OVR 457) vs. Markus Clay (6-6, OVR 468) TESS BRADENBURY: Up next here in week thirteen is a clash of styles, as the South African cruiserweight Markus Clay faces off with big Jun Onoo. JOHNNY TYLER: I have to give the advantage to Onoo here, Tess. He still has a division title to hunt for, while Onoo needs to win every match from here out and hope others beat O’Hallister. In this sport, you never put your trust in others to help you if you can afford to! TESS BRADENBURY: That…sounds more like the normal Johnny Tyler I’m used to. JOHNNY TYLER: Point is, Tess, why leave things out of your control, and in the hands of others, when you can take care of your business and not need to get it to that point? Admittedly, both of these guys will need that extra help, but Clay’s in a position to help his own chances better than Onoo is. Plus, that whole “big guy gasses out early, little guy runs circles around him” thing. TESS BRADENBURY: This should be an interesting match, as both men have entered the ring…and there’s the bell to get us underway! quote:(00:04) Onoo hit a Japanese Binta TESS BRADENBURY: Usually you don’t see someone Onoo’s size move out of the way of a speedy one, but Onoo timed that perfectly there. JOHNNY TYLER: What he needs to do now is keep Clay close, and do not let him have any room to pick up speed. If Onoo can slow the match down, and bring his size into play, this could be over quick! quote:(05:52) Onoo hit a Slingshot To Corner JOHNNY TYLER: That’s what I meant! Onoo decided to get cute, maybe knock Clay outside the ring for a bit and instead became the victim! TESS BRADENBURY: Clay’s been trying to rally together some offense for the last couple of minutes now; this might be a good time for him to pick up the pace! quote:(10:20) Clay picked up Onoo TESS BRADENBURY: Great improvisation by Clay there to avert disaster! JOHNNY TYLER: Momentum definitely seems on his side now, Tess. He needs to press this advantage now, before Onoo can recover. quote:(14:27) Clay hit a Measured Knee Drop TESS BRADENBURY: Clay reaches for the near leg as the ref comes in…one…two…no!! Onoo gets the left shoulder up at two and a half! JOHNNY TYLER: I’m not saying the size difference played a factor here, Tess, but it’s certainly something to consider as Clay looks visibly frustrated in the ring! TESS BRADENBURY: Indeed. He needs to stay focused, stay on his match; will he be able to actually do so? quote:(16:36) Clay hit a Seated Face Plant JOHNNY TYLER: Onoo saw it coming that time! TESS BRADENBURY: Clay crashes hard to the mat, and Onoo shoots the half for the cover, trying to steal one here…one…two…thr—no! Two and a half, two and three-quarters at most, as Clay finds enough room to pop a shoulder off the mat! JOHNNY TYLER: Kind of a sloppy cover by Onoo there, not nearly enough weight on the shoulders of Clay, and it came back to bite him. Plus, he also has that laceration to worry about now; you can be sure Clay is aware of that target! quote:(23:49) Onoo hit a Low Blow TESS BRADENBURY: That one seemed to land high on the chest, almost on the head…wait, cover! One….two….three! This time the moonsault keeps Onoo down, and Markus Clay picks up a big win tonight! JOHNNY TYLER: Yeah, Tess, that moonsault might have landed just high enough to clip the jaw with a leg or something. I’d have to see a replay to be sure, but regardless Clay picks up the win here in a hard-fought contest. TESS BRADENBURY: And if that wasn’t enough, Onoo’s loss means that Mel O’Hallister has clinched the Red Division crown! The RRW newcomer has locked in a playoff berth with three weeks to go, the first competitor to do so this season! JOHNNY TYLER: Still needs to work to earn a bye in the opening round, but the hard part is at least done for him. We’ll see how much his mindset changes next week! Markus Clay (7-6) def. Jun Onoo (5-8) via Pinfall (Johannesburg Express) in 27:56. Rating: *** Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 6.45, XP + 609.53, minor damage to head and body Changes for Jun Onoo: OVR + 0.89, XP + 208.63, major damage to head, moderate damage to body This was the Match of the Night (2 [2 this season] for Markus Clay, 4 [2 this season] for Jun Onoo) Sven Ulafsson (1-11, OVR 434) vs. Brian Blackfield (8-4, OVR 488) The only reason this wasn’t a one-star squash match is because Ulafsson managed some offense and nearly got a pin off a powerbomb late in the contest. Otherwise, Blackfield steamrolled his opponent, realizing early that Ulafsson was too large to hit the Scotland Destroyer on. Instead, he decided to hit the Tartan Effect early, and far too often, to bust open Ulafsson and get the win via a blood stoppage. All told, the ref finally called a stop to this slaughter after the tenth Tartan Effect had landed, and Blackfield heads into week fourteen with a clear lead in the Yellow Division. Brian Blackfield (9-4) def. Sven Ulafsson (1-12) via Blood Stoppage in 28:22. Rating: ** Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 5.6, XP + 493.62, minor damage to head and body Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR + 1.24, XP + 123.40, major damage to head Hailey Carmichael (9-3, OVR 475) vs. Terrance Stevens (4-8, OVR 457) Markedly shorter than the previous two matches, this one still managed to border on potential Match of the Night territory. Could have gone wither way, as it was fairly balanced and did not involve copious amounts of bloodshed or excessive violence. Hailey had an early but brief advantage after locking in a VSCOverleaf, only to cede it to Stevens after a couple of Canuckle Shuffles. A missed Maple Leaf Meltdown opened the door for Hailey to get back in it, and her first attempt at #NoFilter was thwarted by the nearby ring ropes. The second, however, would be locked in and Stevens would be forced to tap, unable to reach the ropes. Carmichael keeps the pressure on Heartilly for the Blue Division lead as the win solidifies her current position as the top wildcard spot in the Ringsports Conference. Hailey Carmichael (10-3) def. Terrance Stevens (4-9) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 18:11. Rating: ** Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 4.43, XP + 415.42, minor damage to head Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.18, minor damage to head Pulsar (8-4, OVR 487) vs. Diamond Steel (5-7, OVR 463) Compared to most of the rest of the card so far, this was a sprint—impressive given that Steel isn’t made for sprinting, but the author digresses. Neither competitor let up from the opening bell, and it was Steel’s size that carried the match for her, as despite losing stamina faster she still managed enough offense that a second attempt at the All Out Blitz managed to hit, and a few seconds later, Steel picked up the minor upset over one of the contenders for the Orange Division title, leaving Billy Norris in control of the Orange Division when his match came up later on. Diamond Steel (6-7) def. Pulsar (8-5) via Pinfall (All Out Blitz) in 10:47. Rating: ** Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 4.01, XP + 485.18, no notable damage Changes for Pulsar: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.29, minor damage to head Reverend Johnny Gross (10-2, OVR 487) vs. Glenn Knight (4-8, OVR 463) The rumors continue to swirl around that Glenn Knight is set against not renewing his RRW contract for a third season, citing the lack of reports anyone has about him committing to rejoin RRW for a third season. Seems ridiculous but clickbait articles often have less than that to work from. That speculation increased even more so tonight, as he stunned Gross with a couple of low blows and then a Promise out of nowhere, keeping the Reverend down for three and throwing the Black Division into chaos, as Gross and Hans Nitschke now sit tied atop the division at 10-3, with three weeks to go in the season. Knight remains mathematically alive in the Wrestlehut Conference wildcard hunt, but needs more things to go right than a lottery player does in order to capitalize on that chance. Glenn Knight (5-8) def. Reverend Johnny Gross (10-3) via Pinfall (The Promise) in 10:54. Rating: ** Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR + 4.02, XP + 485.23, no notable damage Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.31, minor damage to head Billy Norris (8-4, OVR 482) vs. Jack Braddock (7-5, OVR 476) To say that this match, which on paper looked worthy of its spot on the card, was disappointing is a mild understatement. Braddock seemed off his game tonight, and Norris made him pay for it, only needing one shot at the Down Under Disaster to connect and grab the win for the former Tag Team Turmoil champion. Braddock is unable to create any separation in the Purple Division, as both he and Chavinski enter week 14 tied at a 7-6 record. Billy Norris (9-4) def. Jack Braddock (7-6) via Pinfall (Down Under Disaster) in 9:54. Rating: * Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 2.8, XP + 444.36, minor damage to head Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR -0.85, XP + 111.09, minor damage to head Lord Robert Abernathy (5-7, OVR 471) vs. Daniel Simmons (9-3, OVR 488) GREEN DIVISION This was a Match of the Night contender. With a win, Simmons would clinch the Green Division. A loss kept Abernathy mathematically alive, but still unlikely to win the division due to the massive deficit in the victory time category. Even through the first dozen or so minutes, Simmons began to pull away after countering the British Suplexes with a running clothesline, and a quick knee to the head of a downed Abernathy. Several more strikes and the occasional hold later, Simmons had the Englishman in position for a Working Man’s Dropkick, only for Abernathy to shake the ropes and cause Simmons to lose his balance enough to be thrown to the mat. Another attempt at the British Suplexes was thwarted, and Simmons went for a whip to the corner…only for Abernathy to reverse it and in the process knock the ref out as Simmons ran him over. What followed next might be a pivotal point in the hunt for a first-round playoff bye in the Wrestlehut conference. With the ref down for a good two minutes, he was unable to count the visual pinfall on Abernathy after a Blue Collar Driver, or either of the tap outs from Simmons’ Quitting Time hold. The second of those tap outs came literally ten seconds before the ref regained enough coherency to focus on the match. A frustrated Simmons picked up Abernathy for another Blue Collar Driver, but the nobleman slipped out of the hold, delivered a kick to the gut, and in a move that should never have worked given the momentum difference, planted Simmons with a Shatterfall that landed flush—there was no cushioning of the impact there. Three seconds later, Abernathy recorded the pin and may have struck a fatal blow to Simmons’ chance at a first-round bye in the upcoming playoffs. Lord Robert Abernathy (6-7) def. Daniel Simmons (9-4) via Pinfall (Shatterfall) in 21:38. Rating: *** Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR + 5.99, XP + 531.25, moderate damage to head Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR + 0.83, XP + 132.81, minor damage to head Lance Heartilly (9-3, OVR 482) vs. Brandy McDonald (8-4, OVR 481) For most viewers at home, watching backstage, at the commentary booth, or anywhere else on Fight Island, this screamed of déjà vu from the previous match. Even for the opening part, Heartilly pulled away a bit and got the Hellacious Leglock applied, but McDonald was able to roll over to reverse the pressure and force the break. An Irish Whip reversal once more took out the official, and once again while the ref was down he missed two submissions, as Heartilly applied the Hellacious Leglock two more times while the official was down. So naturally when the ref recovered about fifteen seconds after the second of those was applied, many thought that McDonald would make a quick comeback and put the RRW Champion away. Except that didn’t happen. Heartilly stopped Brandy With a Twist before she could apply it, leveraged her to the mat again, and for the fourth time in the match applied the Hellacious Leglock. This time, the ref saw Brandy tap out, and Heartilly closes the show with a submission win that may have done some damage to McDonald’s left knee, as she was seen limping up the entrance ramp as the show closed for the week. Lance Heartilly (10-3) def. Brandy McDonald (8-5) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 24:18. Glenn Knight (5-8, OVR 468) vs. Devil's Delight (0-13, OVR 397) GREEN DIVISION To many, this was Delight’s last chance to get a win this season. Knight was having none of it, going into a rage after being busted open to hit a Promise, get the pin—only to have it reversed due to a foot on the ropes—hit a second Promise, and get the pin for good this time. Given Delight’s remaining schedule is a Last One Standing match against Mastachas, and a divisional bout against Abernathy, the odds are heavily in favor of an 0-16 finish to the season. Glenn Knight (6-8) def. Devil's Delight (0-14) via Pinfall (The Promise) in 12:30. Rating: ** Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR + 4.11, XP + 486.00, minor damage to head Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.07, XP + 103.28, moderate damage to head Sven Ulafsson (1-12, OVR 435) vs. Sterling Silver (4-9, OVR 439) The one glaring criticism of Sterling Silver this season has been her apparent unwillingness to go for her finisher when she can. It came back to bite her here as a match that she could have won in about fourteen minutes without being in danger, went a half hour on the preshow before she succumbed to Pure Power, gifting Ulafsson just his second win of the campaign. This would have been a perfectly fine filler match, but it went far, far too long. Sven Ulafsson (2-12) def. Sterling Silver (4-10) via Pinfall (Pure Power) in 30:01. Rating: ** Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR + 5.10, XP + 494.41, major damage to head, minor damage to body Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR -0.09, XP + 123.60. minor damage to head and body Jack Braddock (7-6, OVR 475) vs. Angela Wassermann (5-8, OVR 419) PURPLE DIVISION FIRST BLOOD MATCH Originally scheduled for the preshow, this got bumped to opening the main show after the Ulafsson/Silver match went far too long. Braddock had the early advantage, dropping Wassermann into danger territory early by largely focusing on the head of his opponent, but Wassermann managed to avoid being busted open on several occasions. Angela would make a comeback, attempting some ground and pound of her own but also not succeeding at drawing blood. Both competitors would hit their traditional finishers during the match, hoping to weaken the other to make drawing blood easier. In the end, though, Braddock would maintain his Purple Division lead after a DDT landed flush to cause some blood to come from the nose of Wassermann. Braddock wins a close one that could have gone either way. Jack Braddock (8-6) def. Angela Wassermann (5-9) via First Blood (DDT) in 17:17. Rating: 2 Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 4.64, XP + 488.30, moderate damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR + 0.95, XP + 122.07, major damage to head Jun Onoo (5-8, OVR 458) vs. El Tornado (4-9, OVR 449) This was really a nothing match. Onoo had an early advantage but couldn’t convert on it, and Tornado ran away with the contest in the last third, eventually putting Onoo away with his finisher with little hassle. El Tornado (5-9) def. Jun Onoo (5-9) via Pinfall (Tornado Splash) in 11:28. Rating: ** Changes for El Tornado: OVR + 4.05, XP + 485.50, no notable damage Changes for Jun Onoo: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.38, minor damage to head George Mastachas (6-7, OVR 426) vs. Yoshii Nakamatsu (8-5, OVR 483) Nakamatsu wasn’t in danger of losing this match. While Mastachas got plenty of offense in, Nakamatsu controlled more of the match and an Emperor’s Fall keeps Yoshii in the hunt for the Yellow Division title at the end of this routinely competitive bout. Yoshii Nakamatsu (9-5) def. George Mastachas (6-8) via Pinfall (Emperor’s Fall) in 14:47. Rating: 2 Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 4.24, XP + 487.10, minor damage to head Changes for George Mastachas: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.77, moderate damage to head Jimmy Anarchy (1-12, OVR 420) vs. Daniel Simmons (9-4, OVR 489) Take what was said in the previous match and apply it here. Simmons easily wins this one and in the process clinches the Green Division crown. There wasn’t even any drama to increase the tension surrounding the contest, so Simmons clinching the division seemed more anti-climactic than it had a right to be. Daniel Simmons (10-4) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-13) via Submission (Quitting Time) in 13:10. Rating: ** Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR + 4.15, XP + 486.32, minor damage to head Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.58, minor damage to head Hailey Carmichael (10-3, OVR 479) vs. Indigo Rose (4-9, OVR 436) BLUE DIVISION For the first ten minutes of this bout, it looked like Carmichael simply hadn’t bothered to mentally show up this week. Rose was taking her to task, hitting moves at will and nearly busting Hailey open with Blood From a Rose about a dozen minutes in. About a minute after that, Hailey found her mental focus and carefully fought back, liberally applying the VSCOverleaf as she swung the match inexorably to her favor. The second attempt at #NoFilter would be the last, as Rose was forced to tap while being nowhere near the ropes. The pressure is now on Heartilly in the Blue Division to keep pace. Hailey Carmichael (11-3) def. Indigo Rose (4-10) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 20:17. Rating: ** Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 4.55, XP + 416.28, no notable damage Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.43, minor damage to head Diamond Steel (6-7, OVR 467) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (7-6, OVR 452) PURPLE DIVISION For someone tied for the best record in the Purple Division, Chavinski certainly didn’t fight like it tonight. Steel dominated in a squash, and moves up to second in the division (having split the season series with Chavinski, she holds the tiebreaker by over four minutes in average victory time with this win). Diamond Steel (7-7) def. Vladimir Chavinski (7-7) via Pinfall (All Out Blitz) in 11:21. Rating: * Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 2.85, XP + 444.99, no notable damage Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.87, XP + 111.25, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (10-3, OVR 461) vs. Elyssa Anderson (7-6, OVR 462) A competitive match, this could have gone either way numerous times. Anderson had the first shot at finishing the bout, but her Point of Attack failed to connect on a couple of occasions. A missed Shotgun Dropkick opened the door for Nagata, who then proceeded to put on a five-minute clinic on “how to slowly sap the will to kick out from your opponent.” A number of Nagata Specials and schoolboy roll ups kept forcing Anderson to spend energy to kick out, with each one getting closer and closer to three. Finally, it took a running roll up, with a handful of tights, to keep Elyssa down for the pin. Nagata picks up a much-needed win, and will clinch the White Division if Brandy McDonald loses later on, while Anderson is all but eliminated from the hunt for the Yellow Division crown. Eugene Nagata (11-3) def. Elyssa Anderson (7-7) via Pinfall (Running Cheating Roll Up) in 21:04. Rating: ** Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR + 4.59, XP + 416.60, minor damage to head and body Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.53, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Lance Heartilly (10-3, OVR 487) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-5, OVR 432) BLUE DIVISION SUBMISSION MATCH Mahal needed this win to remain mathematically in the Blue Division hunt after Carmichael’s win earlier. Heartilly needed this one to remain even with Carmichael atop the division. And given that the Blue Division is home to the more technically sound wrestlers of RRW, it seemed fitting that a Submission Match would determine the outcome of this important bout. What followed was a back and forth affair that lasted almost nineteen minutes and saw both competitors lock in their secondary submission finishers (the Heartilly Arm Breaker and the Maharaja Clip), but fail to secure a victory with them. The finish seemed a bit cheap, however, as Heartilly went low on Mahal to drop him, then applied the Hellacious Leglock to force the tap out. While Heartilly was technically in the right, as there were no DQs in this match, it still came off as cheap with a hint of desperation, as the RRW Champion maintains pace with Carmichael in the division, and leaves FMJ for moment on the outside looking in at the wildcard standings. Lance Heartilly (11-3) def. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-6) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 18:55. Rating: ** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 4.47, XP + 489.08, no notable damage Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.27, no notable damage Mel O'Hallister (9-4, OVR 441) vs. Billy Norris (9-4, OVR 484) In a fair and just world, this match would have been the semi-main of the night. In fact, it would be this match and the Black Division match later that forced the Commissioner to take control of the match ordering process from the Duke of Clarence starting next week…but the author digresses. This ended up being a sprint between two divisional leaders, with Norris wanting to put O’Hallister down quick and Mel knowing he would likely have to hit two finishers to keep Norris down due to the Aussie’s resiliency. It would be O’Hallister who would succeed, only needing a single Dream of the Emerald Isle to keep Norris down for the count of three. Pulsar has a chance in the main event tonight of drawing even with Norris, as O’Hallister continues his chase for a first-round playoff bye. Mel O'Hallister (10-4) def. Billy Norris (9-5) via Pinfall (Dream of the Emerald Isle) in 12:34. Rating: ** Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 4.11, XP + 486.03, no notable damage Changes for Billy Norris: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.51, minor damage to head and body Blood River (8-5, OVR 464) vs. Lord Robert Abernathy (6-7, OVR 477) What appeared on the surface to be a cooldown match came dangerously close to being in contention for Match of the Night honors. Abernathy had the first shot to end the bout, but could not connect on Shatterfall or lock in God Save the Queen, allowing River a chance to get back into things. The passage of a couple of minutes saw River hit The Sacrifice, his knee driving into Abernathy’s head to make him bleed. River would focus on the head over the next five or six minutes, at one point smearing the blood of Abernathy across his own chest as if it was a badge of honor of some sort. The referee seemed about ready to throw the match out due to blood loss when Abernathy avoided another Sacrifice, dropped River with a DDT, and desperately locked in God Save the Queen. River was unable to make the ropes, and had to tap, relinquishing his shot at a Black Division title in the process. For the moment, at least, Abernathy remains in the wild card hunt, but only by a thread, as he pulls out the victory from the jaws of defeat tonight. Lord Robert Abernathy (7-7) def. Blood River (8-6) via Submission (God Save the Queen) in 26:06. Rating: ** Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR + 4.88, XP + 492.53, major damage to head, minor damage to body Changes for Blood River: OVR -0.09, XP + 104.66, minor damage to head and body Reverend Johnny Gross (10-3, OVR 487) vs. Hans Nitschke (10-3, OVR 443) BLACK DIVISION Another sprint between two of the more successful wrestlers this season, this match would determine who led the Black Division heading into the penultimate week of the regular season. There was no clear-cut advantage for the opening nine minutes of the contest, as both men game back as good as they got. Gross was the first to attempt a finisher, only for Nitschke to break free before it could be locked in. Nitschke would attempt his own finisher, only for Gross to slip out behind Herr Doktor and take the legs out. A low blow did not lead to a pin attempt, and some think that was what caused Gross to lose this match. Instead of going for the cover, he went for his finisher, saw Nitschke break free again, and barely twenty seconds later land a Euthanasia Driver to score the pinfall and remain atop both the Black Division and Wrestlehut Conference with a chance to clinch the division next week. Hans Nitschke (11-3) def. Reverend Johnny Gross (10-4) via Pinfall (Euthanasia Driver) in 12:13. Rating: ** Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR + 4.09, XP + 412.98, no notable damage Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.47, minor damage to head Terrance Stevens (4-9, OVR 457) vs. Brian Blackfield (9-4, OVR 493) Just barely outside squash territory, Blackfield never really left this one in doubt, putting Stevens away in a hurry in a little over ten minutes and remaining in the Yellow Division lead with a chance to clinch next week. Brian Blackfield (10-4) def. Terrance Stevens (4-10) via Pinfall (Scotland Destroyer) in 11:15. Rating: ** Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 4.04, XP + 485.40, minor damage to head Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.35, minor damage to head Brandy McDonald (8-5, OVR 481) vs. Markus Clay (7-6, OVR 475) Another match that ran a bit long, this was also a match that should have contended for Match of the night honors had Maven Deltzer decided to not be so stingy. Rather even throughout, this took about twenty minutes to get to the point where anyone attempted to seriously win the match, as both wrestlers went for spears to garner the win rather than their finishers of choice. McDonald would attempt hers first, only to have Clay break free in mid-move. Clay managed to attempt his a few minutes later, but crashed hard to the mat and still managed to kick out before the count of three. His second attempt at the moonsault would connect, and Clay keeps himself alive in the Yellow Division with a huge win over McDonald, who is now on the outside looking at in the wild card chase as her only method of making the playoffs—the loss means Eugene Nagata has clinched the White Division! Markus Clay (8-6) def. Brandy McDonald (8-6) via Pinfall (Johannesburg Express) in 28:34. Rating: ** Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 5.02, XP + 493.71, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR -0.09, XP + 123.43, major damage to head, minor damage to body Otto von Schwarz (3-10, OVR 469) vs. Pulsar (8-5, OVR 487) The main event of the night featured two ref bumps, a couple of finishers hit, and the cheapest ending to a match since the days of the NES versions of Pro Wrestling or Tag Team Wrestling. During the second ref bump, von Schwarz sent Pulsar to the outside due to a charging forearm, and went out after him. A Gute Nacht got delivered on the floor but with the ref out of it, Otto continued to press the attack. Pulsar started to make a comeback as the ref recovered and began counting both men out of the ring. At the count of 8, von Schwarz blocked a punch and went down low on Pulsar, rolling into the ring at the count of nine. The luchador could not recover before the count of ten, and Otto von Schwarz emerges with the cheap upset victory to close out week fifteen. Otto von Schwarz (4-10) def. Pulsar (8-6) via Countout (Low Blow) in 13:29. Rating: ** Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR + 3.18, XP + 413.50, no notable damage Changes for Pulsar: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.62, minor damage to head NOTE: THERE IS NO MATCH OF THE WEEK THIS WEEK AS NO MATCH MANAGED BETTER THAN TWO STARS =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= DIVISION STANDINGS AFTER WEEK 14 OF 16 RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE RED DIVISION Champion—Mel O'Hallister: 10-4, ATV 14:47, (AMR 2.214), OVR 445.00 2. George Mastachas (6-8, OVR 426) vs. Devil's Delight (0-14, OVR 397) LAST ONE STANDING MATCH What should have been a treat for preshow viewers—a Last One Standing match—because an absolute bloodbath when Delight simply would not stay down after numerous DDTs, Olympus Rises shoulderblocks, and stump piledrivers. Mastachas never found himself in trouble at all as he forced the referee to stop the match due to the amount of blood Delight had lost, instead of winning via the traditional method in this match. George Mastachas (7-8) def. Devil's Delight (0-15) via Blood Stoppage in 14:09. Rating: ** Changes for George Mastachas: OVR + 4.70, XP + 486.79, no notable damage Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR + 1.04, XP + 103.44, moderate damage to head Sven Ulafsson (2-12, OVR 440) vs. El Tornado (5-9, OVR 453) This match saw Ulafsson largely keep pace with the quicker Tornado for most of it, getting the advantage at times when Tornado was really starting to pick up some momentum. Despite this, Ulafsson was never quite able to connect with a Nordic Backbreaker despite several attempts to do so, and Tornado finally managed to get enough of an advantage off of one of these failed attempts that a single shot at the Tornado Splash was all that he needed to secure the win in a match that was really rather close. El Tornado (6-9) def. Sven Ulafsson (2-13) via Pinfall (Tornado Splash) in 12:15. Rating: ** Changes for El Tornado: OVR + 4.09, XP + 485.88, minor damage to head Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.47, minor damage to head Vladimir Chavinski (7-7, OVR 452) vs. Angela Wassermann (5-9, OVR 420) PURPLE DIVISION This clash between the bottom two people in the Purple Division was not the best of matches to end the preshow on. After an even first couple of minutes, Wassermann controlled the next six or seven, battering Chavinski with a variety of strikes mixed liberally with her Superman punch. She could not get the cross arm breaker applied, though, and Chavinski found his way back into the match. A headbutt busted Wassermann open, and persistence paid off as the third attempt at the rear naked choke was the charm, applied well away from the ropes, and Wassermann eventually had no choice but to tap. Vladimir Chavinski (8-7) def. Angela Wassermann (5-10) via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 17:47. Rating: * Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR + 3.11, XP + 447.82, moderate damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.95, XP + 111.96, minor damage to head Jun Onoo (5-9, OVR 458) vs. Indigo Rose (4-10, OVR 436) The show proper opened with a competitive bout, even if it seemed to lack any sort of flow to it. Back and forth throughout, with no sustained offense stretches lasting more than 90 seconds at a time, Rose got the last laugh with the Vite d’Indaco, taking advantage of a heavily winded Onoo to get the submission in what was ultimately a pointless, throw-away match. Indigo Rose (5-10) def. Jun Onoo (5-10) via Submission (Vite d’Indaco) in 16:10. Rating: ** Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR + 4.32, XP + 487.76, no notable damage Changes for Jun Onoo: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.94, no notable damage Pulsar (8-6, OVR 487) vs. Jimmy Anarchy (1-13, OVR 420) Tess Bradenbury: A decent match to open our main broadcast, and we’re following that up with one of the contenders for the Orange Division title looking to avoid an upset. Johnny Tyler: This is probably going to be over quick, and without a lot of hassle. Pulsar’s got, what, about three times as many wins in RRW as Anarchy? Tess Bradenbury: That’s about right, Johnny. Coming in to tonight, Pulsar has a career regular season record of 19-11. Jimmy Anarchy comes in at 6-24 over two seasons. Johnny Tyler: So yeah. This one is over within twelve minutes. Calling it now. Tess Bradenbury: Both men have gotten into the ring…there’s the bell, and we are under way with the second match on the main card this evening! quote:(00:07) Pulsar hit an Estacas Tess Bradenbury: Anarchy needs to take this chance and get some offense in quickly, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: As long as he doesn’t get DQ’ed by the ref! We all know Anarchy loves to break the rules! quote:(03:19) Pulsar blocked a Rear Chinlock Tess Bradenbury: There’s the opening Anarchy needed! Can he press this advantage and get the upset? Johnny Tyler: Might be his best opportunity to get his second win of the season, Tess! Especially if he hits another one or two of those! quote:(06:33) Pulsar blocked a Legdrop To Groin Johnny Tyler: …what the hell was that? Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar might have been thinking for Zodiac Implosion, but changed his mind in the process? Johnny Tyler: More than likely he had a brain fart. Makes me wonder how he’s in contention for a division title. quote:(09:12) J. Anarchy countered a High Cross Body with a Punch Johnny Tyler: Ballgame! Tess Bradenbury: Here’s the cover…one…two…three! Pulsar wasting no time tonight, as he puts Anarchy away quickly for his ninth victory of the season! Johnny Tyler: I said it’d be under twelve minutes; I’m so tired of being right! Tess Bradenbury: Nobody likes a braggart, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: I like me, and that’s all I need! Tess Bradenbury: Oy, vey…. Pulsar (9-6) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-14) via Pinfall (Zodiac Implosion) in 10:58. Rating: *** Changes for Pulsar: OVR + 5.20, XP + 600.70, minor damage to head Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR + 0.72, XP + 206.43, minor damage to head This was the Match of the Night (2 [2 this season] for Pulsar, 2 [2 this season] for Jimmy Anarchy) Sterling Silver (4-10, OVR 438) vs. Hans Nitschke (11-3, OVR 447) What started as an easy victory for the Black Division leader went horribly awry in a hurry. Nitschke controlled most of the opening four minutes, went for an Invasive Procedure at the seven-minute mark, and missed as Silver raised herself out of the Tree of Woe just in time. Nitschke would not get a chance to execute a single offensive maneuver after that. Silver dominated the last three and a half minutes, and staring daggers at Hijo del Cadaver at ringside to prevent interference, she connected with On Wings of Silver to score the huge upset victory and bring further chaos to the Black Division title hunt! Sterling Silver (5-10) def. Hans Nitschke (11-4) via Pinfall (On Wings of Silver) in 10:31. Rating: ** Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR + 4.00, XP + 485.05, no notable damage Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR -0.07, XP + 103.07, minor damage to body Mel O'Hallister (10-4, OVR 445) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (8-6, OVR 432) A fairly even match throughout, this one was just starting to get interesting when it ended abruptly. O’Hallister had just come off a fairly lengthy offensive stretch, and was trying to recover after a missed elbow drop. Mahal pulled the Irishman to his feet, applied a hammerlock, and immediately chained it into the Maharaja Clip. O’Hallister looked like he was doing well fighting it, and would break the hold at any moment, when FMJ tightened the grip and cut off any chance Mel had of getting out of the hold. He tapped, and though Mahal is out of the Blue Division hunt, his quest for a wild card spot remains just barely alive for the moment after this quick submission victory. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (9-6) def. Mel O'Hallister (10-5) via Submission (Maharaja Clip) in 12:15. Rating: ** Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 4.09, XP + 485.88, no notable damage Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.47, no notable damage Brandy McDonald (8-6, OVR 481) vs. Terrance Stevens (4-10, OVR 457) WHITE DIVISION Stevens was fighting an uphill battle here. In three previous encounters, he had yet to score a victory over McDonald. Brandy would push that streak to four as she was never in danger the entire time, though it took her about a half-dozen attempts at her finisher before she finally managed to connect with it. Brandy McDonald (9-6) def. Terrance Stevens (4-11) via Pinfall (Brandy With a Twist) in 13:29. Rating: * Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR + 2.94, XP + 445.93, no notable damage Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR -0.89, XP + 111.48, minor damage to head Glenn Knight (6-8, OVR 472) vs. Lord Robert Abernathy (7-7, OVR 482) GREEN DIVISION With Pulsar’s victory earlier, that officially knocked Knight out of the Wrestlehut wild card chase. All he could here was make the same thing happen to Abernathy. He might have been able to do it within ten minutes if he didn’t try to play a psychological game and allow Abernathy a bit of a hope spot. The Englishman nearly made him pay dearly for that, controlling the middle of the match and nearly getting Knight into Shatterfall territory. But after a stump piledriver was broken up following the British Suplexes, Knight finally knuckled down, connected with The Promise, and summarily ended Abernathy’s chances at a wild card berth this season with three beats of the referee’s hand. Glenn Knight (7-8) def. Lord Robert Abernathy (7-8) via Pinfall (The Promise) in 16:03. Rating: ** Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR + 4.31, XP + 487.70, minor damage to head Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.93, minor damage to head Markus Clay (8-6, OVR 480) vs. Diamond Steel (7-7, OVR 470) An even matchup highlighted by Clay’s hesitance to go up top for the Johannesburg Express—maybe thinking that Steel was just large enough of an opponent to not be as affected by it—this developed into a straight brawl before the seven-minute point of the match. Nary a hold could be seen, it was all strikes and impacts. Clay’s hesitance in going aerial wasn’t helped much when his lone attempt at his moonsault got thwarted by Steel, who simply threw him off the top rope. She was unable to wear down Clay in time, though, and after a succession of spears, Clay finally kept Steel down for a count of three. Clay still needs help to win the division or the second wild card spot in the Ringsports Conference, but at least he has a chance. Steel is now eliminated from the playoff picture altogether—Braddock and Chavinski face each other in week sixteen, and one of them is guaranteed to be at nine wins at the end of the week. The best Steel can manage is eight. Her hopes for a postseason run end in heartbreaking fashion tonight. Markus Clay (9-6) def. Diamond Steel (7-8) via Pinfall (Spear) in 17:24. Rating: ** Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 4.39, XP + 488.35, minor damage to head Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.09, minor damage to head Otto von Schwarz (4-10, OVR 472) vs. Billy Norris (9-5, OVR 484) This went about as well as one would expect. Otto started off strong, but faltered under the speed of Norris’ offense. A single Down Under Disaster was all that was needed (after a pair of Boomerang DDTs), and Norris picked up the easy win in one of the quickest matches of the evening. This sets up a match next week against Pulsar where, if Pulsar won fast enough, the luchador could steal the Orange Division title right out from underneath Norris. At least Norris could rest slightly easier knowing that he’s guaranteed a spot in the playoffs regardless. Billy Norris (10-5) def. Otto von Schwarz (4-11) via Pinfall (Down Under Disaster) in 10:24. Rating: ** Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 3.99, XP + 484.99, no notable damage Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR -0.07, XP + 103.06, minor damage to head Hailey Carmichael (11-3, OVR 484) vs. Blood River (8-6, OVR 464) This ended up being a perfectly average match. Nothing of interest, no outstanding sequences or even moments. Just your basic, competitive bout that ended when Carmichael managed to get her submission hold locked on, leaving River no choice but to tap out, unable to get near the ropes. The loss puts River in a situation where he needs to win, and get help, to reach the playoffs as the second wild card. That loss also ensures that both Reverend Johnny Gross and Hans Nitschke will make the playoffs in some fashion, whether as Black Division Champion or as a wild card entrant. As for Hailey, her path still wasn’t clear as of yet. She’d know more after Lance Heartilly had his match in the main event of the evening, and what exactly she needed to do to win the Blue Division. Hailey Carmichael (12-3) def. Blood River (8-7) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 17:50. Rating: ** Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 4.41, XP + 415.28, minor damage to head Changes for Blood River: OVR -0.08, XP + 103.82, minor damage to head Brian Blackfield (10-4, OVR 497) vs. Elyssa Anderson (7-7, OVR 462) YELLOW DIVISION They may not admit it, but both Nakamatsu and Clay were rooting for Anderson in this contest. A Blackfield win clinched the Yellow Division; a loss still gave them both a fighting chance for the moment. As for Anderson, a win kept her ever-dimming hopes of a wild card berth alive pending the next match. Both wrestlers fought like they were fully aware of the stakes in this match. Anderson knew she was the underdog, given Blackfield’s unnatural ability to find an adrenaline rush in times of need, and so tried to wear down Blackfield with a series of strikes and speed-based tactics. Blackfield fought in close, trying to keep Anderson in reach to make it easier to hit his preferred maneuvers of choice. Anderson hit the first big move of the match, connecting with a pair of Andersaults, which Blackfield responded to in kind by later hitting a pair of Tartan Effects. Anderson fought back from this, a Shotgun Dropkick setting up Blackfield for the Elysium Whirl, but he was having none of it. He broke free from the finisher attempt and a few minutes later landed a Scotland Destroyer, scoring the pinfall and in the process the Yellow Division crown. Brian Blackfield (11-4) def. Elyssa Anderson (7-8) via Pinfall (Scotland Destroyer) in 17:10. Rating: ** Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 4.37, XP + 488.24, minor damage to head Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.06, moderate damage to head Eugene Nagata (11-3, OVR 466) vs. Yoshii Nakamatsu (9-5, OVR 487) Nakamatsu sprinted to an early lead in this contest, and try as he might, Nagata could not claw his way back enough to land even a single Nagata Special, much less any other high-profile moves. Yoshii rolls through easily, picking up the victory, and puts himself at a “win and in” scenario for the second wild card spot next week. Nagata tumbles out of his spot in the conference standings, losing the tiebreaker to Brian Blackfield, and now has a potential first-round match to go through in the playoffs if nothing changes after next week’s show…and that playoff match would be against Yoshii Nakamatsu. Yoshii Nakamatsu (10-5) def. Eugene Nagata (11-4) via Pinfall (Emperor’s Fall) in 18:43. Rating: * Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 3.15, XP + 448.24, minor damage to head Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR -0.96, XP + 95.25, moderate damage to head Daniel Simmons (10-4, OVR 493) vs. Jack Braddock (8-6, OVR 480) A Braddock win in less than an hour or so of match time would clinch the division based solely on numbers. The author will go into this below at the Divisional Standings recap. Braddock made sure to leave absolutely no doubt whatsoever. Simmons barely managed any offense at all, and Jack needed less than ten minutes to put away the Green Division champion and claim the Purple Division in the process. This was the definition of a squash match. Jack Braddock (9-6) def. Daniel Simmons (10-5) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 9:23. Rating: * Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 2.78, XP + 444.13, no notable damage Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR -0.84, XP + 111.03, minor damage to head Lance Heartilly (11-3, OVR 492) vs. Reverend Johnny Gross (10-4, OVR 487) As we enter the main event of the evening, let’s see what the stakes are for both men heading in. Heartilly: A win keeps him in the driver’s seat in the Blue Division. He’s 1-0 against Hailey this season, and she would need to win fast enough to make up over a minute of Average Time of Victory against him next week to steal the Blue Division. If he loses tonight, it’s Hailey who is in control, and she would win the division with any victory over Heartilly in week sixteen. Gross: Quite simply, Gross must win this match to have a shot at the Black Division title. He’s 0-2 against Nitschke, and so would lose the tiebreaker. Gross needs to win this match, his week sixteen match, and hope Nitschke loses next week in order to win the Black Division. Any other combination of results, and it’s Herr Doktor who claims the division. As for the match itself…neither man backed down from the opening bell. Sure, there were illegal tactics, and a low blow or two during the course of the match, but from two men who wanted to win and ensure their places in the postseason, can you blame them? Heartilly tried to end it first, looking for the Hellacious Leglock, but Gross kicked free of it before Heartilly could apply it. The Heartilly Arm breaker was also thwarted in short order, and Gross fired back with a hard DDT that nearly stood Lance on his head vertically on impact. The Reverend wasted no time in getting Come to Jesus applied, sliding the pair back towards the center of the ring before falling back and applying a body scissors at the same time to fully trap Heartilly. Lance struggled to find an escape, at one point trying to weaken the leglock by going after the knee of Gross, but the hold was applied too well and Heartilly passed out rather than submitting. Gross gets his much-needed win, ending week fifteen with several divisional races still to be decided in the final week of the regular season. Reverend Johnny Gross (11-4) def. Lance Heartilly (11-4) via Submission (Come to Jesus) in 14:47. Rating: ** Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR + 4.24, XP + 487.10, minor damage to head Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.77, minor damage to head =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= DIVISION STANDINGS AFTER WEEK 15 OF 16 RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE RED DIVISION Champion—Mel O'Hallister: 10-5, ATV 14:47, (AMR 2.200), OVR 444.93 2. Real simple for the guy holding the spot everyone wants. Win, and get in. McDonald (#7): Win under 37:42 + Nakamatsu Loss + Mahal Win (Clay result irrelevant). Since Mahal has not faced anyone in spots 6-8, adding him would nullify combined head to head and go to Average Time of Victory, which McDonald leads by over two minutes. She loses head to head tiebreakers against Yoshii and Markus so this is her only way of making it in. Clay (#8) needs to win a match in under 29 seconds plus have Nakamatsu lose, McDonald lose, and Mahal win. In close to 600 matches run in this engine, I have yet to see a match end in under two minutes. While mathematically alive, Clay is essentially out of the playoff hunt barring some sort of miracle. Mahal (#9) is worst in Average Victory Time by far, well over four minutes. If Mahal were to win in a time of 0:00 (essentially by forfeit), he could at best drop to 17:48, still behind Yoshii’s mark of 15:28. By this comparison, Mahal is mathematically eliminated from the playoff hunt but could still play spoiler. WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE 1. Devil’s Delight: 0-15 (Green #4) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE CLINCH SCENARIOS Pulsar (#6): Win. Real simple for the guy holding the spot everyone wants. Win, and get in. He still has a shot at the Orange Division title as well; if Pulsar wins the division, Norris slots into the wild card spot. River (#7): Win under 8:16 + Pulsar loss + Chavinski Win. This would force the tiebreaker to Average Victory Time, and anything under 8:16 would go in favor of River by mere fractions of a second. A visual difference wouldn’t appear unless it’s at 8:08, for reference. Chavinski (#8), much like Mahal above, cannot catch Pulsar even if a forfeit were to happen, and he has not faced either Pulsar or River this season. Thus, he is mathematically eliminated. I just want to say for the record, as I sit down to start running matches this morning, that I find it humorous that Senerio’s “(duh)” when he picks Hailey to win has been slowly adopted by Halaxy and DNEA occasionally when they pick Hailey, too. I’ve noticed Halaxy doing that a few times this season, and it caught me off guard to see it in DNEA’s list, too. Had a good chuckle about that.

Lord Robert Abernathy (7-8, OVR 482) vs. Devil's Delight (0-15, OVR 398) GREEN DIVISION This went pretty much how you’d expect it to go. Abernathy wins in essentially a lengthy squash, and Delight ends up 0-16 on the season. Despite this, she claims she will be back for another season, citing she wants to work on the basics during the offseason, and that she knows she’s capable of so much more. Lord Robert Abernathy (8-8) def. Devil's Delight (0-16) via Submission (God Save the Queen) in 11:41. Rating: * Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR + 2.87, XP + 445.14, no notable damage Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.87, XP + 94.59, minor damage to head Terrance Stevens (4-11, OVR 456) vs. George Mastachas (7-8, OVR 431) WHITE DIVISION A solidly average match all around, Stevens seemed a little less like his usual showman self tonight and took the fight to Mastachas. The change in attitude paid off as he scored the minor upset with his superkick, denying Mastachas a .500 season in the process. Terrance Stevens (5-11) def. George Mastachas (7-9) via Pinfall (Maple Leaf Meltdown) in 13:27. Rating: ** Changes for Terrance Stevens: OVR + 4.16, XP + 486.46, minor damage to head Changes for George Mastachas: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.61, minor damage to head Otto von Schwarz (4-11, OVR 472) vs. Sven Ulafsson (2-13, OVR 440) RED DIVISION Tess Bradenbury: Our last match on the preshow this week is a Red Division clash. The powerhouse Sven Ulafsson squares off against the German giant, Otto von Schwarz. Johnny Tyler: You sure this isn’t a pre-screening of Godzilla vs. Kong, Tess? Tess Bradenbury: …I’m sure, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: Darn. At least the movie would be more interesting. Tess Bradenbury: Ignoring the obvious troll bait there, both men are in the ring, and we are underway in this Red Division battle! quote:(00:03) Ulafsson hit a Kick To Gut Tess Bradenbury: It’s not very often we see anyone manhandle Ulafsson like that, but von Schwartz just did it with ease! Johnny Tyler: It kind of helps when you’re 7-foot-4 and over 440 pounds, Tess. Tess Bradenbury: That it does. quote:(04:44) von Schwarz applied a Choke Hold Tess Bradenbury: von Schwarz took too long on the windup there! Johnny Tyler: No kidding. Sven had all day to avoid that slap. Hell, even I could avoid it with that much time! Tess Bradenbury: And I’m sure there are some who would pay decent money to see that. Johnny Tyler: Was that necessary, Tess? quote:(11:21) Ulafsson hit a Corner Stomp Flurry Tess Bradenbury: Johnny, I think it has to be asked at this point. Can Ulafsson, who is arguable the strongest member of the RRW roster, get von Schwarz up for Pure Power? Johnny Tyler: I would think that if he could, we’d have seen it by now. He’s barely able to hit powerbombs on von Schwarz; asking him to hit Pure Power may be a task too large for him! quote:(17:47) Ulafsson hit a Short Arm Knee Lift Tess Bradenbury: Johnny, I think you’re right. Ulafsson seems hesitant to even attempt his finisher, almost as if not being able to lift von Schwarz into position would be an utter embarrassment or something. Johnny Tyler: Perhaps. But there’s always the fallback option of just pummeling your opponent into oblivion, and so far Ulafsson seems to be doing pretty well at that! quote:(23:58) Ulafsson hit a Backbreaker Johnny Tyler: Finally! Cover the man! Tess Bradenbury: von Schwarz looks absolutely exhausted as he collapses into the cover…one…two…three! This one is over and von Schwarz has won a war of attrition! Johnny Tyler: I guarantee you, Tess, if Ulafsson had managed to attempt and hit Pure Power, we’d be singing a different tune altogether! Tess Bradenbury: That may be, Johnny, but for now the record books will show that it was Otto von Schwarz who emerged victorious on the final day of the second regular season! Otto von Schwarz (5-11) def. Sven Ulafsson (2-14) via Pinfall (Gute Nacht) in 30:23. Rating: *** Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR + 6.63, XP + 519.18, major damage to head, minor damage to body Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR + 0.92, XP + 208.95, minor damage to head and body This was the Match of the Night (8 [5 this season] for Otto von Schwarz, 4 [1 this season] for Sven Ulafsson) Indigo Rose (5-10, OVR 441) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (9-6, OVR 436) BLUE DIVISION A few people in the Ringsports Conference were watching this one closely, as Mahal was the key piece to a number of tiebreaker scenarios. The catch, of course, was whether he could win a division match for the first time all season. In the beginning, it didn’t seem like it would happen. Some chain and counter wrestling led to FMJ getting an early advantage, and attempting the Maharaja Clip, only for Rose to find an escape before she could tap. She would go on the attack, and the ref would be taken out by an errant Irish Whip. A brief bit of action saw Rose land a Blood From a Rose, and score a visual pinfall as she had Mahal down for about a twelve-count before the ref finally recovered enough to attempt an actual count…that FMJ kicked out of at 2.9. That seemed to destroy Rose’s drive, however, and Mahal would turn that into the Full Metal Jacket a few minutes later to finally nab his first (and only) Blue Division win of the season, and ensure that maximum chaos would ensue in the playoff chase this week. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (10-6) def. Indigo Rose (5-11) via Submission (Full Metal Jacket) in 19:57. Rating: ** Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 4.53, XP + 489.58, no notable damage Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.39, minor damage to head RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—UPDATED quote:1. Carmichael 12-3 Diamond Steel (7-8, OVR 470) vs. Angela Wassermann (5-10, OVR 419) PURPLE DIVISION While an even bout, this seemed to go without a lot of energy. Perhaps they both knew it was pointless and phoned it in? Regardless, Steel gets the duke with an All Out Blitz coming immediately out of a schoolboy roll up. Diamond Steel (8-8) def. Angela Wassermann (5-11) via Pinfall (All Out Blitz) in 14:02. Rating: * Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 2.96, XP + 446.17, minor damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.90, XP + 111.54, minor damage to head El Tornado (6-9, OVR 457) vs. Sterling Silver (5-10, OVR 442) ORANGE DIVISION Another “filler” match on the card, Silver finally managed to put together a winning formula against Tornado and dominated this from start to finish. She was never in danger and picks up the win, though due to the average victory time being in Tornado’s favor, she is unable to escape the basement of the Orange Division. Sterling Silver (6-10) def. El Tornado (6-10) via Pinfall (On Wings of Silver) in 14:06. Rating: * Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR + 2.96, XP + 446.20, no notable damage Changes for El Tornado: OVR -0.9, XP + 111.55, moderate damage to head and body Reverend Johnny Gross (11-4, OVR 491) vs. Jimmy Anarchy (1-14, OVR 421) BLACK DIVISION Jimmy Anarchy very nearly lived up to his ring name here, and almost sent Rev. Gross spiraling into anarchy. He controlled a fair portion of the match, and about ten minutes deep hit The Purge and the Final Step in quick succession. Gross kicked out at 2.95, the ref’s hand maybe a half-inch off the mat. Anarchy tried to press the attack but a missed second attempt at the Final Step let Gross get back into it, and three minutes later Anarchy passed out via Come to Jesus. Gross has done his part; all he can do now is watch and Reverend Johnny Gross (12-4) def. Jimmy Anarchy (1-15) via Submission (Come to Jesus) in 13:33. Rating: ** Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR + 4.17, XP + 486.50, moderate damage to head Changes for Jimmy Anarchy: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.63, minor damage to head WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—UPDATED quote:1. Gross 12-4 Jun Onoo (5-10, OVR 458) vs. Mel O'Hallister (10-5, OVR 445) RED DIVISION O’Hallister made drat sure this one was never in doubt. Basically a squash, he made certain to rub it in that he didn’t need his finisher to beat Onoo, electing instead to just punch Onoo in the dick and get the pin that way. Short, simple, and effective. O’Hallister rolls on, looking ready for the playoffs. Mel O'Hallister (11-5) def. Jun Onoo (5-11) via Pinfall (Low Blow) in 12:11. Carmichael 12-3 Blood River (8-7, OVR 464) vs. Hans Nitschke (11-4, OVR 447) TO DETERMINE THE BLACK DIVISION CHAMPION Gross’ win earlier makes this a must-win bout for Nitschke. Win, and he claims the Black Division via head-to-head tiebreaker. Lose, and Gross wins the division by way of a better record. On his end, River needed a quick win, a Pulsar loss later, and a Chavinski win later to get him into the playoffs at the number six seed. Huge implications in this matchup. It was competitive, no doubt, but try as he might Nitschke could not seem to get into a groove. Every time he’d start to get some momentum, River would find a counter and press the attack. River got busted open, then Nitschke…only for the blood rage from Herr Doktor to be immediately stopped by a DDT and immediate Crimson Regret. River wins a bit of a sprint, but was it fast enough to keep him alive in the playoff hunt? Blood River (9-7) def. Hans Nitschke (11-5) via Pinfall (Crimson Regret) in 11:15. Rating: ** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 4.04, XP + 412.59, minor damage to head Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR -0.07, XP + 103.15, minor damage to head WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—UPDATED quote:1. Gross 12-4 Jack Braddock (9-6, OVR 483) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (8-7, OVR 455) PURPLE DIVISION This was a squash, plain and simple. Braddock never left this one in any doubt, taking just over ten minutes to put Chavinski away. He looks ready for the playoffs, and probably wants the first round to start right now given how little damage he took tonight, but rules are rules. Jack Braddock (10-6) def. Vladimir Chavinski (8-8) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 10:23. Rating: * Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 2.82, XP + 444.57, no notable damage Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.86, XP + 111.14, minor damage to head WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—UPDATED quote:1. Gross 12-4 Yoshii Nakamatsu (10-5, OVR 490) vs. Elyssa Anderson (7-8, OVR 462) YELLOW DIVISION This was a Match of the Night contender. Quick-paced, back-and-forth, and several near falls made this a fun one to watch. Anderson took an early advantage, outpacing Nakamatsu and hitting an Andersault about eight minutes in for the first real big move of the contest. A second attempt would miss, and Nakamatsu roared right back with a DEVASTATION Knee to square things up. Anderson avoided a second one, and a few seconds later hit a Shotgun Dropkick to send Yoshii hard into the corner. He broke out of the Elysium Whirl, hit a second DEVASTATION Knee, but couldn’t hit Anderson with the Nakamatsu Driver. Anderson’s attempt at another comeback would go wanting, as a missed Andersault led eventually to a Nakamatsu Driver, the three count, and ending Brandy McDonald’s hope of a redemption appearance in the playoffs. Yoshii Nakamatsu (11-5) def. Elyssa Anderson (7-9) via Pinfall (Nakamatsu Driver) in 15:27. Rating: *** Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 5.53, XP + 528.03, minor damage to head and body Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 0.77, XP + 132.01, moderate damage to head RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—UPDATED quote:1. Carmichael 12-3 Brandy McDonald (9-6, OVR 484) vs. Eugene Nagata (11-4, OVR 465) WHITE DIVISION Bless her heart, McDonald tried to pull Nagata to a two-star match. But he was having none of it. It was certainly competitive; another three minutes and McDonald could have set Nagata up for her finisher. Instead, Nagata’s season-long focus on his signature moves and some grappling training over the last week made up the difference. The fourth Nagata Special did the trick here. Eugene Nagata (12-4) def. Brandy McDonald (9-7) via Pinfall (Nagata Special) in 21:26. Carmichael 12-3 Glenn Knight (7-8, OVR 476) vs. Daniel Simmons (10-5, OVR 492) GREEN DIVISION A decent bout to end the Green Division on for the season. Could have gone either way, but Simmons had more to fight for in the bout, and the results showed it. He slowly opened up a gap that Knight simply could not close up, and a Working Man’s Dropkick into a Blue Collar Driver was enough to send Simmons on to the playoffs with some momentum behind him. Daniel Simmons (11-5) def. Glenn Knight (7-9) via Pinfall (Blue Collar Driver) in 14:15. Rating: ** Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR + 4.21, XP + 486.84, no notable damage Changes for Glenn Knight: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.71, moderate damage to head WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—UPDATED quote:1. Gross 12-4 Billy Norris (10-5, OVR 488) vs. Pulsar (9-6, OVR 492) ORANGE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH Despite Pulsar needing the fast win, it was Norris who nearly got it. He controlled most of the first five minutes, effectively ending Pulsar’s chances then and there, and at eight minutes in attempted the first of several Down Under Disasters. The only reason this wasn’t a squash match is because Pulsar seemed to have this uncanny knack for knowing when it was coming and getting out of the way, getting some offense in slowly but surely. It took seven tries but Norris finally connected with his finisher to pick up the pin and lock up a first-round bye. Billy Norris (11-5) def. Pulsar (9-7) via Pinfall (Down Under Disaster) in 12:36. Rating: ** Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 4.11, XP + 486.05, no notable damage Changes for Pulsar: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.51, moderate damage to head WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—FINAL quote:1. Gross 12-4 Markus Clay (9-6, OVR 484) vs. Brian Blackfield (11-4, OVR 502) YELLOW DIVISION It was up to Blackfield to win and reclaim his number-two seed. This ended up being another Match of the Night contender, as both men attempted finishers somewhat quickly. Clay was first, though he never got the moonsault off before Blackfield started shaking the ropes to stop the move in its tracks. The second time—after a rare Boarding Call sighting—Blackfield threw Clay off the turnbuckle, bleeding forehead be damned. A Tartan Effect busted Clay open, and this match seemed to be more Bloodsport than wrestling. A few seconds later, a lone attempt at the Scotland Destroyer was all that Blackfield needed to pick up the win and punch his ticket straight into the second round of the playoffs. Brian Blackfield (12-4) def. Markus Clay (9-7) via Pinfall (Scotland Destroyer) in 14:16. Carmichael 12-3 Lance Heartilly (11-4, OVR 491) vs. Hailey Carmichael (12-3, OVR 488) BLUE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP For Carmichael, there was a bit more at stake than just the divisional title and a bye—a win gives her the best record in RRW this season, as the lone entrant with 13 wins. A loss puts her in a five-way tie with Heartilly, Nagata, Blackfield, and Gross at 12 wins. The first eight minutes were filled with constant counters, though Heartilly managed a few more holds and cheap shots than Carmichael did, getting the early advantage. Hailey looked like she wanted to snap and go fully on offense, but some words from Leslie Burrell at ringside helped her keep focus and find her opening to go on the attack instead of brute forcing it. Lance didn’t let her get much offense in, though, and a few minutes later had Carmichael to the point where he might catch her in his Arm Breaker. He had effectively shrugged off the VSCOverleaf, and at the fourteen-minute mark looked to be in clear control. A single arm DDT and a kneeling jaw breaker put Carmichael on the cusp of Hellacious Leglock territory. A stump piledriver left her vulnerable to it, and at twenty minutes deep, Heartilly locked in his finisher. Only for Carmichael to fight through it and nearly turn the hold over to reverse the pressure before Heartilly broke the hold himself. Lance found himself a bit bewildered at how Carmichael managed to avoid submitting, and an avoided stump piledriver that turned into a Carmichael chop block finally gave her a bit of life in this bout. A running knee drop, a spinning arm breaker…Carmichael seemed to finally be getting some momentum. Then, she missed a knee drop, and Heartilly quickly got the Hellacious Leglock applied again. This time, Heartilly fought back against Hailey’s attempts to reverse the pressure, and she finally tapped out to preserve her chances at making a deep run in the playoffs. Heartilly wins the Blue Division in what honestly should have been a Match of the Night contender. Lance Heartilly (12-4) def. Hailey Carmichael (12-4) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 25:16. Rating: ** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 4.83, XP + 492.00, no notable damage Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR -0.09, XP + 105.00, minor damage to head and arms RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE PLAYOFF HUNT—FINAL quote:1. I plan to start running what matches I can on Thursday. So if anyone is going to do final training for the season, I’d appreciate getting that ASAP so that as soon as I get done working Thursday afternoon I can go right in, update the database, and start on these 11 matches that are going to be longer to run than normal. Now, having said that...since it’s on record that I haven’t done any updates yet, let me submit my own playoff brackets just for shits and giggles. SEASON TWO PLAYOFFS OPENING ROUND—2/3 FALLS (2 Points per correct guess) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE #6 Pulsar (9-7, OVR 492) vs. #3 Daniel Simmons (11-5, OVR 496): Simmons has been all around the better competitor this season, plus he has two ways of finishing a match. Pulsar likely puts up a good fight but I see this going 2-0 to Simmons. #5 Hans Nitschke (11-5, OVR 447) vs. #4 Jack Braddock (10-6, OVR 485): This comes down solely to the OVR difference. Give Herr Doktor another season like this and I doubt I’d be debating this even if Braddock had similar gains—it would give Nitschke more time to make a comeback. This season, though, rookie jitters set in and Braddock advances 2-1. RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE #6 Yoshii Nakamatsu (11-5, OVR 496) vs. #3 Eugene Nagata (12-4, OVR 468): The evidence says Nakamatsu (1-0 vs Nagata, higher overall). But one match has to play spoiler, and this is it. 2-1 Nagata. #5 Hailey Carmichael (12-4, OVR 488) vs. #4 Mel O’Hallister (11-5, OVR 448): See also what I wrote for Nitschke, and add in that Carmichael beat O’Hallister this season already. 2-1 Hailey. SECOND ROUND—2/3 FALLS (4 Points per correct guess) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE #2 Billy Norris (11-5, OVR 492) vs. #3 Daniel Simmons: Norris is 2-1 in postseason matches. Experience wins out. 2-1 Norris as Simmons scores a pin off a missed Down Under Disaster. #1 Reverend Johnny Gross (12-4, OVR 495) vs. #4 Jack Braddock: This is tough to call. It’s going 2-1 either way, but I look at the fact that Gross holds a victory over Braddock. That’s barely enough to sway my decision. RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE #2 Brian Blackfield (12-4, OVR 507) vs. #3 Eugene Nagata: Nagata’s tendency to try to spam the Nagata Special means he just needs to hit a 1 in 5 shot twice, and it avoids the adrenaline rush. These two are 1-1 against each other but given Nagata’s recent form, I have to go with him, 2 falls to 1. #1 Lance Heartilly (12-4, OVR 496) vs. #5 Hailey Carmichael: It pains me to do this. But Heartilly is 4-0 against Hailey. I don’t see two falls happening here. 2-1 Lance. SEMIFINALS—2/3 FALLS (6 Points per correct guess) #2 Billy Norris vs. #1 Reverend Johnny Gross: Norris costs himself a fall off a missed finisher, Gross wins the second with his own. Gross is also 1-0 against Norris. I see a 2-0 sweep here. #3 Eugene Nagata vs. #1 Lance Heartilly: What saved Nagata against Blackfield will be his downfall against Heartilly. Lance won’t hesitate to focus on his finisher, Eugene will not likely go for his, and that spells the end, 2-1 Heartilly. RRW CHAMPIONSHIP—60-MINUTE IRON PERSON MATCH (10 Points) Wrestlehut Conference Champion Reverend Johnny Gross vs. Ringsports Conference Champion Lance Heartilly: This is not going to be a repeat of last season’s finals that went to a 17-0 final. Gross has beaten Heartilly before. The OVRs are almost identical. What decides me more though is that over the seasons, the head has been targeted far more in attacks than any other body part. Gross’ finisher targets the head, and the more it’s worn down, the more likely he is to submit someone. Once he gets a finisher applied, that will start the momentum going and Lance won’t be able to stop it. 13-8, Gross wins and denies Heartilly a second RRW Championship. Do not even ask posted:Wait is Blackfield the second or third seed? Hang on. I might have typoed. Going to look real quick. Edit: yeah, I goofed. Blackfield is 2, Nagata is 3. Editing as necessary now though I still stand by semifinals/finals picks as written. ShadowedFlames fucked around with this message at 20:33 on Feb 23, 2021 |

Update: 8 of the 11 playoff matches have been run. No writing done to them yet, I want to get the whole series done before starting that so if I need to craft longer narratives I know everything that’s happened in earlier bouts. I’ll have all matches run likely by the top of the hour, then it’s adding the commentary and such. Aiming still for a Sunday posting of the opening round at minimum. EDIT: I’m not normally one to hype up things, but... I’ve just witnessed a “*****, Match of the Year” match in this engine for the first time. Stick around, folks. You’re in for a hell of a treat when we get there! ShadowedFlames fucked around with this message at 23:10 on Feb 26, 2021 |
